Getting a way late start on this week, but about to qualify in the Riley and hopefully have an official race tonight.

I'll be in Grand-Am at 8, I see Kevin and Eric are already in, anyone else?

Ugh. Hit a little bit of curb on the last turn, lap 4 or something. Hit the outside wall, probably didn't hurt the car THAT bad, but then I got hit by what felt like two Rileys. Into the pits. 4 minutes of required, I'm in pit stall 4. I pull out, realize theres no way the car will drive straight. Back up to my pit box and was disqualified for doing so. I had 20 minutes of optional repairs. I still don't understand why those are optional. If the wheels aren't facing the correct way, the car shouldn't be allowed out of the pit box. Just that simple.

Had a great battle with Kevin and some other Mustangs, until 2 morons in DPs decided to gang up on me right before the bus stop.. A fantastic race ruined by some stupidity and impatience.

Oh my....

I really feel for you man, better luck next time!

And always do the optional repairs in the Riley, I also figured that out on Barber last season. I manage to do a lap with a wreck of a car with only one lost control and went for a smoke when I parked in the pit box. Finished the race to look good, but no fun of being 17 laps down. (or so)

Anyway hope the next one is incident free for you Eric!

Edit:
Argh, you too Mac K, guess it was the eavening of wreckers tonight, bad luck guys

The corner was yours to own, as you were in front of them both at your turn in point. But the fact that you turned in made the black Riley brake and the white Riley don't have better brakes than the black one so he have no where to go.

It's not my intention to blame you for the incident, but I swear those two Riley drivers have a different story than you.

When driving the Riley you have to think and act much faster than when in the much slower Mustang.

The White Riley should have yield much sooner so it's his mistake in my opinion, but next time your out there letting them just go much easier will lose you some tenths, Since you said the race was ruined I guess it costed a lot more. So see it as a tip for next time out there mate.

Yup! Blame is on the white DP for not recognizing he had lost the possition a loooong way before the corner, black car probably couldn't see Mac there but that's what the F3 box is for! Not a very smart move on any of the 2 DP drivers here, specially so early in the race!
People just don't realize how much responsibility is on their hands when they choose the fastest car...

Yeah the waste management DP is to blame here, he should have known going in 3 wide wasnt going to work. You had the corner going in anyway, they should have been more patient. Really ruined what was a tight mustang pack up until that point.

Kevin, I know it was during practice, but the time I passed you, you did a little bit of the "big no no" move of changing sides on a straight. We had plenty of distance and it was fine in that case, but just be wary coming out of the carousel that DPs might be expecting you to stay left at first.

Anyhow, will be hopping into the next race, hopefully it gets populated.

Edit: 19 drivers with a few minutes to go.

I only saw one car, if you notice I stayed to the left to let him go, and next thing I know they're trying to go 3 wide into a corner. When I saw the other DP I knew something was about to happen. The white DP driver sent me a message apologizing and taking the blame on himself and the other DP.. My intention was to let them by, but they decided to race each other hard into the bus stop and ruin my race in the process..

Oh, i must not have seen you coming my mistake. Usually if a DP is within a few seconds coming off that turn ill stay to the left. At least i didnt blatantly cut in front of you

Like I said quite clearly I did not mean to blame you of it so no need to explain. We all agree if the white Riley wasn't there the accident wouldn't have happened. But if you had better awareness of the white Riley you could easily avoid the accident.

I would never have dived a Mustang that way, but I can't drive my ideal line if there is a something in that line. Then we have to be flexible, and that is my tip to you, because even though that guy took the blame for it and it was clearly his fault. You still didn't finish the race like you would have liked to.

So if you want to go back out there with the thought of stupid Riley drivers be my guest, but I thought I give you a friendly advice for the future and you might have more fun.

The turn in in the video looks a bit stupid I have to admit, you have the right to turn in, but you could just as well crossed a pedestrian crossing even though you saw a big truck coming up to it doing 90. You could blame the truck driver, but you would be dead.

That race was better. Finished it anyway.

Was running 4th place until coming out of the carousel there was a Mustang on the right, lapped DP passing the Mustang and staying left. He was going maybe 90% of full speed. I came up on him but it didn't look like he intended to let me on by so I fell in line behind him and moved right when he moved right to set up for the turn. Then he brakes early and I clip the corner of his car trying to avoid it. 4 minutes in the pits for me. 18th place. Multiple laps down. I don't feel so badly for him because I saw him in the pits for a long time later, so he might put himself in that position often.

So, made a pretty good charge back to 10th place. Fastest lap was within a few tenths of the fastest lap of the race (set by the winner), so that's good. I don't think I was ever running faster than 1'06 after coming out of the pits, I see Kevin's average lap was 1'05. Proud to say I was never passed on-track in that race, but would have been caught by Kevin if we had about six more laps.

Or, at the risk of being slightly slow, but definitely quite clear, staying to the right would also work. The DPs would have no doubt, if you didn't track out, which side of the road you want for the next corner.

Best bang for the bucks is definitely G27 + Nixim Mod!

Why do you feel this is compared to maybe a CSR package (comes with CSR basic pedals) and CSR shifter? It would run roughly I think $330 shipped compared to about $210 for G27 shipped.

I really have no experience with any wheels outside what I have now which to me is not smooth at all as it never feels fully connected with any cars I drive or tracks.

My last race was a win, +.02 (I got booted, but saved it wonderfully) from the time I entered to the time I left this race I didn't get one 0x, 1x etc.

Maybe it just hates me :p these street stock races haven't given me very good SR boosts lately, no matter what I do.

You have a new G27 already? Or...?

I didn't expect it, but Watkins Glen Cup is a really fun track with the DPs. I've heard it described as having a "speedway feel" before and I kind of agree. Pulled off a 4th place finish in my final race. Lower SOF but the three guys ahead of me were good. 3rd place was 9 seconds ahead, if I hadn't spun myself in turn 1 by staying in the throttle I probably would have been fighting him for position. Some idiot in a Riley ran out of fuel with 2 laps to go and managed to stop sideways in the bus stop. 1st and 2nd place were within a couple seconds of each other through the entire race, and the leader had held the lead since the start. That guy blocked up the bus stop, the leader had to cut through the grass to avoid him, got a slow down penalty and had to take 2nd place. I was 25 seconds behind the leader and the DP was still sitting in the bus stop when I came through there. Idiot.

Hey guys, been lurking here for a while, haven't been playing though cause of university. And just had my first two races in like 3 months.
The first one I competed in the grand am series, ran wide in the last corner of Watkins, a dp was trying to overtake from the outside and we collided. That was just a racing incident but then he proceeded to catch up and spin me for no reason. So I was dreading the iracinng return.
The second race was just a mx5 rookie around okayama. It restored my faith, was having a great battle for second for nearly half the lap, with the top 4 within 5 seconds of eachother. Then my internet started to lag and ended up colliding with 3rd. He gained second place and I finished fourth. Amazing race though, we were running side by side for a fair bit of it.
Anyway hope to race some of yous soon.

So i checked the iRacing forums, and still can't seem to figure out which cars I can use to get to class A from class B license. I figured you guys would know.💡 Help please:sly:

from the home page click the 'series' tab and look under class B. Is that what you were asking? or were you asking what car you think you should buy?

Thanks mate. That was exactly what I was looking for! 👍

So simple.. yet I spent 20+ minutes looking around the darned iRacing forums for my answer.

Just needed to come to the right forum:)

Yep its great track. It was my first race whit a DP previous season. I heard everybody likes Watkins Glen. Me not so much. But after racing whit alot of diffrent cars on the track i have the say its a great track. Specially in fast paced cars's. Had some problems to take the first corner in the past. its a bit tricky becaus its going a bit downhill. Now i take it much better. I can run consistent 1:5's, i notice the faster people gain a second on me in the Bustop. I could do the same but i know if i push there i make mistakes. Besides i rather do it easy in that corner becaus i had to avoid some spinning DP's and slow mustangs there. My "safe" way of racing there saved me from some incidents. Its not a happy feeling if you have to step on the brakes in the middle of the corner.

MrMelancholy15
Polar; his G27 broke
Not yet, post office is closed today, I'll ship it tomorrow. Right now I have a unreasonable amount of duct tape holding it down. Ironically, the other clamp broke in the EXACT same place! The snaps are truly identical. I'll have a new one in 2 weeks.

I don't like the cup layout... even with the bus stop chicane it just doesn't seem exciting to me. Sure there is the odd hairy moment when you get some oversteer or when somebody crashes in front of you but it just isn't exciting. I think it may be because the lack of lower speed corners and heavy braking. Maybe thats why I don't mind the Boot layout.

The basic Fanatec pedals are terrible for iRacing and with all the aftermarket support and development out there for the G27 is kind of a no brainer, if I was to buy my hardware again I would definitely go for a G27, perfect pedal mod and some other aftermarket goodies! One advantage of the Fanatec wheels is having the tunning menu right there on the wheel, wich with all the new sims auto-calibrating the wheel's lock to lock is becoming kind of irrelevant...

Is it possible to map buttons to a wheel to automatically deselect fuel/tires with one button? Sometimes i get speeding penalties because i have to scroll through and manually deselect things with my DFGT wheel.
