Not totally confident with my Mustang on Daytona so far. My times seem to be stuck around low 2:06 while i saw two guys post :04 and lower. 80 mins is a long race though, i hope i can keep it out of harms way and finish well. I think ill be able to make it on one tank.

edit: both those guys were division 1 drivers, so obviously ive got more problems than just setup

No work tonight! Means a full night of practice for Daytona in the Grand Am series. Ill be hopping into the 8pm race as well, ive been looking forward to this track for a long time as it was one of my favorites on GT5. Its quite a bit different though on iracing, especially the bus stop. Anyone else doing Grand Am besides me and Mac?

Daytona will be different in iRacing because it is the freshly paved version, and they altered the bus stop a little when they did it.

Well that was kind of boring, 80 minutes and only 1 other Mustang to race. He finished 4 laps behind me so the whole race i was just staying out of the way. More people need to start using the Mustang, sigh

I was about to enter that race actually, then my wheel came lose in the qualify session. I figured I look into it before I race among other drivers closer to my car. Manage to pull off a lost control 2 from it only, but I was lucky..

Guess I be racing tomorrow instead, after some wheel repair and testing :P

Oh and the wheel came lose from the base, not from the plate its mounted to. No steering what so ever.. And just because of one little screw.

I managed to fasten it back together, but the screw is holding it in place and since its 80 minutes I didn't take the chance of it holding up.

A nasty experience :dunce:

I'll jump into a race with you sometime this week when I get the time (and motivation) :p

Jav
The basic Fanatec pedals are terrible for iRacing

Jav, why do you say that? I have G25 pedals with the Nixim mod and was thinking of buying the Fanatec CSPs expecting them to be a step up - are they not? :nervous:

The CSP's are not the "Basic Fanatec Pedals. Buying the CSP's is a DEFINITE step up. Nothing compares to driving with pedals that you can adjust the positioning of the pedals and metal.

Strange, when you are driving do you intend to pull the wheel towards you? Maybe you don't realise it?

When i am racing I have the intention to push the wheel away from me whit my right hand. I am right-handed and i have a death grip on my wheel. Whitout realising it i use more strenght on my right hand.
I am not sure but i think thats why my old wheel is a bit off-center. I forced the wheel to bend. Also the clamp got lose, always from the left becaus i push it on the otherside. I don't have this on my new wheel apart from the terrible wrist problems on my right hand. Apperently i don't use my left, so my righthand does all the work. I can't fix my way of driving, its in my nature to use the right hand.

I'm not pulling in the wheel, I think I actually pushing it, but the screw you have to loosen to be able to turn the big plastic nut behind the wheel to change wheels (if you have the F1 wheel) actually had snapped off so the big nut had loosen itself and into turn 2 at Daytona Road I steered into the corner and the wheel snapped on me. It didn't come off or anything that dramatic, but I didn't want to force anything. Managed to put it back on, reset to pit and tightened the plastic nut and finished my qualify. But since it wasn't secured by the screw I decided I didn't take a chance on racing for 80 minutes.

So I went to bed instead, and fixed the wheel today. Replaced the screw and it's good as new again ;)

But now I'm painting the roof in my man cave, then I need to paint the walls and this weekend the new floor arrives so I might not get to race on Daytona :ouch:

EDIT: My wheel isn't off center, but I have to turn the wheel more to left than to right for the same amount of steering.

If I turn the wheel 90 Degree to the left I only have to turn it 80-85 degree to the right to do the same amount of turning. But I honestly don't mind, I guess I got used to it.

Probably gone jump in the next race.
Anyone else?

Edit: That is the Grand AM race :P

Edit 2: Anyone knows how much fuel we need in the mustangs?
Gone try and run a couple of laps and see how it goes.

That's 2:00AM GMT I believe, making it 03:00CET for me. I'm awake now and you might even see me race at this hour. But I'm not ready to bind my self to race every Wednesday for 10 weeks at 03:00.

But I do hope you get's lots of people and get all those people into Grand Am official races as well, that series need Mustang drivers ;)

Good Luck with the series :)

Thanks I appreciate that. Of course you are welcome to drop by for a race or two, no pressure to commit to the series. We are all pretty easy going so it is usually a fun race.

Truer words have never been spoken, on the other hand im racking up easy wins because almost no one shows up lol.

I finally bought Homestead today because I was tired of being left out of races! It seems that my wheel doesn't like super speedways but 1.5 tracks or so are fine.

After racing 2 races tonight there, I have to complain a little about other drivers. My latest race this one guy kept talking through out the race like telling people not to race hard (lead pack he was in) because people bobble and then just random crap. I messed up during green flag stops and got caught a lap down in the middle of the leaders but lead the guy who caught me first go by pretty easy. Mr. Talker called his inside line before the corner and then coming off the corner I was on his rear quarter panel. He starts telling me not to race him hard because I'm a lap down.

Now I don't mind some talking or calling stuff but don't tell people how to race period. It's your job as a faster car to pass me but I'm not slowing my pace for you just to give you a break usually.

I bet the Mustang nearly makes it the whole race.

Had some guy in a race today that wouldn't stop typing where he wanted cars to go and to not hit him when around him, he did it for most of the race. He was asked several times to stop nicely, but he wouldn't... Then he got mad after the race for no reason :p Some people..

You raced it in season 3, we then had to pit. Now they increased the amount of fuel you use. What do you think?

I see, I was a bit confused whit the race lenght i thought it would be the normal 50min.

Mac

Even some people type in the middle of corners. I don't understand how they do it, but they can't be concentrated on there driving.

I think i was a few gallons short in my only race so far, depends how many laps you get in i suppose. I started with a full tank and came in half way to add a few and get fresh rubber.

Not sure how many of us will find this useful, but just in case. All new members should be required to watch this, pretty comprehensive video.

On my "old"account, I had the Zandvoort track on it, is it possible to somehow access it on my "new" account? It still shows up in my iRacing folder..

What's with the ''old'' and ''new'' Can I ask why you need a new account ?

Make stats look better? lol jk Mac, but i see a lot of people do it. They'll have their name and a 2, 3 or 4 next to their name. Makes me wonder why they would create a new one. Me personally i like to see my entire career under one name so i can look back and view my progress.

I always thought that was to distinguish between users with the same name. I bet there are a few John Smiths , could get confusing if they all went by that title alone ?

That is what I always thought. I didn't realize people actually make multiple accounts.

Anybody else having trouble playing iRacing? I haven't even logged onto the service for 4 weeks now. And I just have no desire to play iRacing? I've been playing Forza 4 and GT5 the past 4 weeks.
