Mr Melancholy, the trick to jumping the hill is to let off the throttle for a split second, because if you don't you just wind up your wheels faster than you're going and you're guaranteed to spin your tires when you touch down and if one tire touches first, it'll turn you. So just let off just as you crest the hill and mash it back down as soon as you have landed, that should prevent the violent jerk to the right

I suggest you go run an entire practice session in the MX-5 and if you still can't control it by the end, I don't know what to tell you. Of course you're going to spin on occasion, but you should at least feel more in control after some decent practice.

I don't lift, I just make sure the wheel is straight as I am about to land. The amount of time I can gain there is... well a lot, and it provides a perfect moment to attack the car ahead in the next corner.

It's more in the angle at which you launch than how your wheels are when you land, you have to launch dead straight to do that

No you don't.

I'll try and put a video up to prove that you don't have to lift or aim dead straight, you just have to have your wheels straight and be ready to catch a little tiny bit of oversteer.

So I’m 3.34 and my MPR is complete for road. What series are popular in C-Class? I was thinking either GT Challenge or Grand-Am.

Is the GT Challenge a multi class?

Yes it has the McLaren (GT3), Corvette (GT1) and Ford GT (GT2).

I must say if you decide to go for Grand Am Do Not but the Mustang as it is being replaced by the McLaren soon.

Star Mazda is also pretty popular.

Haven't driven lime rock + mx5 for a long time, but I'm pretty sure this is true. You definitely don't have to lift. Any of the videos from fast guys on youtube will confirm this. I think launching straight with your wheel completely centered is best. Wheel centered and launching at an angle might give you a little bit of wiggle at the landing. Wheel not straight regardless of the direction of your launch is just asking for trouble.

This is the most dangerous part of the track with this car, so pay a bit of extra attention to it during practice.

Well my video didn't upload in time but here is a guy that takes it flat and just has his wheel straight on landing...

Ok thanks. Should I get the McLaren as its used in more series?

Ya I guess so, I think a lot of what I see then is people still are trying to make a turn there to get away from the wall and get that jerk to the right

I guess so, it is supposed to run in Grand Am, GT Challenge and have its own series so it would be a good choice I guess.

Ok I’ll get that then. Ill probably run it in the 2.4 hours of Daytona too.

Are the tracks the same for the whole year? Say from season 1 to season 4 or 5?

Errm I don't think so. If a new track comes out that is suitable for the series it will take a different tracks place. Some season it stays the same though I think.

Got the Lotus 79 and hit a 45.4 around Lime Rock :)

 My word the lap times are short, in general, there. What does the HPD run there? 35 seconds?

Like, for example, an entire practice session in Mac K's race session? I was only more in control because I was slower. Then, I was still spinning, despite trying to slow myself down. Fact is, I don't like the Miata. I can drive the Mustang (a notoriously difficult to drive car,) the Jetta (again, difficult to drive fast because understeer,) and the Star Mazda etc. just fine, but the MX-5's really tricky for me.

It's just like Polarbear telling me "the Solstice is hard to drive at Charlotte." Then I joined to ghost drive, and found that the Solstice was incredibly easy to drive. To each their own.

I didn't say it was hard, just tricky....

By the end I was good to go.

Anywho, I just got done with a hosted star Mazda race at Watkins glen with no bus stop or boot. It was very fun! I finished 4th, but should've done better... But I spun with 2 laps left xD

As normal, Watkins Glen is an awesome track, and the Star Mazda's just fun. Also, D, I'm coming on FB now. :)

Exactly, I love the Mustang cause it's easy to drive.. :D

I'm loving the V8, thanks to some help from Mad and some other quick drivers, I'm able to turn a competitive qualifying lap, and finish a race. I did an unofficial race last nice and finished with only 1 incident, with an average lap time of 1:22.3xx, and I was still running 22s at the end of the race.

As for the mx-5, it's difficult to drive at first but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. The mustang took me a lot longer to figure out, it took until week 9 of this season for me to start being competitive.

Which track is that?

I think so, but, it caught me off-guard the first time, then everyone else here seemed to think it was hard-to-drive.

I find it "easy" to drive, very predictable. That being said it's very hard to get fast and consistent laps with it, it really helped me learn a lot to be honest. I recommend it to anyone!

Yeah. It's not that bad. As soon as I figured out how to use the brakes :dopey: effectively, the car wasn't bad. I loved trying to go flat-out through the VIR esses and coming very close to doing it. I dropped a single tire = off track (x1)

All in all, it's a fun way to meet MPR.

I'm guessing Mosport as the V8SC ran there this week.

That's a respectable effort. I cant seem to get a good setup there , by best is around the mid 22s.

I can validate that. The 1:22s at Mosport (my home track) are good lap times.

Yup, it's at Mosport. ANZ Motorsport (one of the top teams) posts a setup each week in the v8 sub forum on the iracing forums. That's a good place to start, just tweak some setting until it suits your driving style. It's bloody difficult to get an official race though, I'm going to try again tonight.

The V8 Supercar Series in my opinion is the second most competitive series on the road side. A Class Grand Prix is the most, V8 second. DWC and Pro obviously are ahead of those 2. The problem is with that though, almost everyone practices all week long for 1 main broadcasted SOF race (Tonight 9:45pm AEDT GMT +11). So therefore, barely and races go official. There are few smaller "America's" races and smaller Aussie SOF races on our sunday nights but really, less than 10 would go official weekly.

The ANZ Motorsport setups are a good starting point for newcomers, but are tuned with very little time and effort. They also don't have a lot of front end point so they're not fast. I can almost gurantee that's not what their top drivers are using in that team, but sure, it is a good starting point for newcomers.

I think I won my 2nd race in it at Summit Point.
