I would like to get it, but I just don't think I can go back to racing on a single screen after moving to triples. And I don't see myself buying 2 additional PS3s. Although, with the PS4 out now, prices in the used PS3 market might drop low enough to actually make me consider it.

But is not just the 2 PS3s but 2 additional copies of the game which blows big time!!

I don't think that'd work since SONY reduced the amount of PS3s you can download content to from 5 to 2. If anything, you could get away with 2 copies. Any combination of physical or digital copies.

I saw pre-owned copies of GT5 XL somewhere yesterday for $12.99. New copies are $19.99 on GameStop right now.

I've had a horrible past 4 races. Wactched my SR drop about 400 points. I've been ran into I don't know how many times and I made a few mistakes myself. Now i have to hustle my way back to where I was.

Check it out, I was ranked exactly #1000 in Road racing at one point yesterday. :dopey:

Maybe next week I'll finally break into the high 900s.

I had a great race today in the FW-31 at Montreal, well until I pitted anyway. It was a full room (24) and had Paolo Muià (Pro), Tommy Nilsson (Pro), Richard Avery and Tomo MegIic in the race. I started 13 with a 1:16.732 and the leader was on a low 1:14, after the carnage that is lap 1 I had made it to ninth place and had decent pace. The guy behind me was closing in, it was Paolo he had started 18th and not qualified. He sat behind me for a few laps patiently before I let him past because I was afraid he would get frustrated being kept behind me. Then a few laps later I find myself in 7th in a battle for 6th with Ciprian Broscaru behind me and Yuta Saito ahead of me. I pass Yuta and then outbraked myself into turn 1 where they both got past and I got a slow down penalty. They were now 3 seconds ahead. I work my way back up to them and Ciprian loses it into turn one and spins, then 2 or 3 laps later I get past Yuta. I decide to pit then as I have 2 laps of fuel left on lap 20/47.

When I leave the pits Tomo the leader is right behind me. and a train of cars down to 5th.. So I let them past and lose 15 seconds. Then a few laps later tying to make the time I lost back up I spin into a wall and break my nose so I pit to fix it, only to come out to the leaders again, except this time they have caught up to the guys I was racing with 10 laps ago. So I come out and lose maybe 20 seconds letting everyone past. Eventually there was a gap in the leaders and I sat there until the end.

Results

Not to bad in the end, the pit stop screwed me though. Later on I go into a practice session and hit my two fastest laps in the car at Montreal in a row, a 1:16.235 and a 1:16.205. Will have the 1:16.205 up in a few minutes.

EDIT: Video of fastest lap I hit yet.

I won my 3rd mustang cup race today. It's a very overlooked series. The drivers are great and the racing is close!

So the 4.00 SR automatic promotion thing only applies to the Rookie class? I'm sitting at 4.44 Class D, and I didn't get automatically promoted like I did from Rookie to D.

Definitely. Not sure then.

Are you sure ? You need to race in a D class series, not just race when you have a D-class license.

For Road these are SRF, Mustang, Skippy, GTC and Global Challenge (Kia+Cadillic). You can run the Mazda/solstice in the GTC this week, at Summit Point Jefferson, I'd advise TTs as Jefferson can be a crash fest.

For Oval, they are Late Model, National and Modifieds. You'd need to buy a car to run one of these, or wait until next week, and run the Street stock at SoBo.

I haven't raced as much lately but forgot how much I LOVE Charlotte in trucks, the set is perfect for me on long runs. People were having issues with getting loose but if you didn't over drive turn 3/4 it would never bite like that. I can go a season without wins and had 2 in few races!

There's a drop down window under the MPR tab that explains if you are eligible for promotion, and a very concise explanation in the event you are not. For instance, it might say something like "You need X races or time trials in your current license class or higher to be eligible for promotion."

I don't understand how anyone can be confused by a lack of promotion. Ever.

Yeah well, that's nice. :sly: From Rookie I simply went to 4.00 and got immediately promoted. I just assumed that every time you start your next license and hit 4.00 you would get promoted, and I didn't check that tab, but instead asked here first. Easy enough to understand, imo. :p

That's it. I'm still doing the Mazda Cup because I don't want to buy more content yet.

You can do the D-Class Grand Touring Cup, in the Mazda or Solstice (which are free) at Summit Point this week, which is a free track.

You can still race in the Mada Cup with a C-class license, and then you'd already have the license when you wanted to race something else.

Thanks. I will look into that.

Hoping you guys might know something about this.. My friend has a G27 and he uses it on his PC. Up until yesterday it worked fine, now apparently it won't calibrate or steer at all.. The pedals and both paddle and H Shifter work and are recognized in the Logitech Profiler, but the wheel itself isn't.. I've searched around and tried a few methods, but none of them have worked so far.. I don't really want to open it up yet, as I believe it's still under warranty, but if someone knows a quick fix i'd really appreciate it. :)

This happened to me. They exchanged it for a new one.

Hasn't happened to me, but since I've started iRacing I will occasionally have to reset my PC because I will suddenly lose a gear in the shifter. It's happened twice - lost 1st gear on one occasion and 3rd gear on another. Once I reset my system it works fine again. Inconvenient though during a race.

Must be a problem with iRacing. Because I had a similar problem happen with 1st gear.

Ok, I see now. You mean a single race. The thing that has turned me off from new content is actually the schedules. I don't have a lot of time to practice, and when the fact of racing new content means 5-6 new tracks to learn, I'm hesitant. I guess I'm not all that concerned at the moment about my license, but I may go ahead and race that event just to get my MPR. Then again, I guess I do have the week to learn those new tracks and just race the event on the weekends.

I meant a single week, you would still need to do four races or TTs for your MPR. I just meant that the GTC is at a free track, for this week, so you could complete your MPR without buying anything. You could also wait until Christmas week, when the GTC will be at Lime Rock Park, which I'm sure you already know.

I agree about time to learn new tracks, I struggle with this too, that's also the advantage of the GTC, and the Advanced Rookie level "Production Car Cup" you can still race the Mazda in these, so your only learning a new track, and not a new car and track at the same time.

The thing I found when upgrading to new tracks and what to buy is look at what tracks would have some cross over series at it, or you general are interested in as a whole. It doesn't take super long amounts of time to learn a track and you will get faster in time, so don't swear that side of it either.

I bought cars I knew I would like or wanted to race or tracks I was interested in but I don't have all the tracks for any larger series at all which I'm ok with. There will be weeks I don't race or can pick up a hosted race too.

After a horrible past week of races at Summit point(my Irating dropped about 500 points), I finally had some decent races(Okayama and Laguna Seca) and my Irating is almost back above 2000.
