Usually the guys in the back haven't qualified, and they know that there's only 30 minutes to catch up. If they stop for a crash, they won't be able to catch the front guys. I'd think by class B, people would realize that 9 times out of 10, you're going to lose badly speeding through a crash

@Kamuifanboy I used your mclaren setup in my gt3 race today and got 2nd! Was awesome as the run went on.

Glad to know it worked well! Usually people find my setups to be have a lot of oversteer, even though I feel that they are really stable. Has something to do with my narrow entry and exit driving style.

I will probably post it on the iRacing forums for sure but, you might have to remind me on GTP if you want a link to it from here :lol:

In my case , only a few cars at the back didn't qualify. I started 17th of 22 , top split , sof 2369. Shortly after the green , I saw cars flying into the air ahead so I braked slightly , as did the guys immediately ahead of me. As we got closer to the mess and started to find a clear path through ,a McLaren behind me hit me very hard launching me into the air and then plowing into several cars in front of me.

After the race I watched the replay from his cockpit . He wouldn't have seen the cars flying around but he should have seen a lot of brake lights. I guess he decided to capitalise on the situation and attempt to gain a lot of positions rather than use some caution through the drama. His plan failed and he ruined at least 4 other guys race.

That may have been the same race. Was it a white and blue McLaren that sent you flying? If so, you know how bad that was
 
Did a race in the V8 Supercar and dear god its like ice skating, anyone who can drive this car fast is amazing. Literally slid my way through 20 laps at Montreal and only managed to spin once but had many many big moments and a few cut corners.
 
I did 4 GT3 challenge races this weekend, and for being bottom splits on all except one, there wasn't any carnage.

Usually on GT3 races I've been starting from pits, to avoid that said carnage.

Did well, three races ended up taking slight wheel damage in the boot section and had to drop down. Would have had 3 top 10 finishes, though.

However only took 6 incidents through three races. Gained about .40 back though.

I like that car, and gonna come back to it once I'm more comfortable in traffic. Go to the OSR development league thread and get their fixed setup for the week. It's pretty good.
Otherwise, allways remember that the car has a solid spool instead of the rear diff, so to drive it fast you've got to break traction on the inside rear wheel. It's a fine line, too much input and you're sideways, to little and you're plowing. But it's mad fun. Just surviving the Bathurst race is an achievement.
If you're interested in trying out the V8SC w/o a risk to your SR/IR, checkout grasim.tv league. They run on Monday nights, are a pretty clean and friendly bunch. And, they broadcast their races with live commentary on twitch and post to youtube.

P.S. Hate Montreal, those short-cut penalties are ridiculous.
 
With the driving standards we see in GT3, surviving is more important than being fast unless you're alien pace

Yea there is defiantly a few tricks to learn with this car. In the tight hairpins i found out that if you give it a tiny bit of gas the car will make the turn tighter than just push way wide if you just coast through it. And turning into corners you have to turn in way earlier than you think you do and that messes me up a few times. Montreal not a good track to learn how to drive this car on ill say that.

A beginner's go-to trick, until you find exact inputs to get you through the corner, is to lightly apply brakes while turning if you're understeering. That, naturally, unloads the rear and inside-rear tire breaks loose.
 
Next season i defiantly plan on running the Ford GT and The V8 as the rest of this season im just gonna try to get the hang of it.
 
I'll definitely be getting into V8SC when the Holden comes out. Always liked the Holdens styling more and have been waiting for it to purchase a V8SC. I assume it drives like a big heavy Kart? No dif makes me think it will like to have the inside rear wheel cocked up to get it to rotate well.

It drives like a boat, no amount of setup would probably fix that but you can hop kerbs with it with relative ease. At montreal everyone is taking as much of the big white kerb as they can. And yes the V8 does not like sharp corners at all and it has a hard time getting turned into the corner but you gets heaps of oversteer on exit.
 
what is the best gt3 car to buy. I love how they're always lots of people in the races and I want to get into it.

Once you drive the V8, every other car on the service feels boring. It feels so much more alive, and the Holden should be easier to drive as well.
 
I think the most fun car on the service is the mustang. Yea it's slow and on street tires, but the racing is intense. There's not much lap time you can tune out of the setup, so it's mostly driver. It's a lot of fun

I was wondering why the Mustang drove like a sloppy miata, didnt know it was on street tires. I will say though the V8 on Bathurst this week is an absolute blast, best car/track combo ever and the V8 handles like a dream around there except for the last and 1st corners. Although its defiantly survival with the race being a very long 31 laps.
 
Does anyone around here have a decent setup for the RUF C-spec to use on Suzuka next week?
I've been practicing with one I found on the iRacing forums, but it's too twitchy for me. Trying to tweak it myself only made it worse :p . To compare how good/bad that setup was for me, I did a few laps on my Laguna Seca setup as well, which ended up in almost the same time as the Suzuka one, even though I had horrendous understeer in some corners.

Anyone care to help? I'm absolutely terrible at setups :)

Ya i guess the ruf is the best buy (runs 3 series) but I don't want to join "rufmania"
I was also debating on buying the vette instead and running proto gt but there isnt much participation as there used to be.

Realistically you can only run 2 series with the RUF. The GT3 series goes official round the clock, and the RUF Cup series usually goes official. On a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday evening, your time zone, you could find a World Sports Car Series race go official, aside from those times, it's a ghost town. As for Proto & GT, you pretty much have to wait until Sunday morning 10AM, Noon, 2PM, and 4PM to have a race go official with a good balance of GT and LMP cars.

That was my problem with the Ruf, wanted to run GT3 challenge and Former Grand-am, but there's never a good time for grand-am that's official when I can race.

I was hoping at start of the season they'd put the Riley on NTMv5 and that it would help out participation.
