Sounds like a huge success rate. Curious, what do you do if an HPD (or a pack of those) is catching up to you just before the top of the hill?
Depends if I'm by myself I let them go. I I'm in a battle and they don't act like an idiot I'll have them follow until the back straight.

But most of the time you can let them go up the hill without too much damage to either.

Well, tried my first HPD Bathurst race. Made it 5 laps. Let the guy behind me go because he seemed a bit faster and I didn't want to crash from him trying to overtake. He spins and takes me out 2 corners after I let him by... some people.

Yep, I was in that same race yesterday. That guy took 3 or 4 guys out in that lap, including you and me. He just kept on going with his terminally damaged car and was all over the place. Right before I wanted to overtake him, he spins and touches the HPD in front of me while he rolled across the track. I could avoid him by like 5 centimeters, but only by yanking my wheel to the right, losing control in the process and paying a visit to the wall...

He left without even leaving an apology to anyone.

Just saw that on the replay. Looks like you actually dodged him then netcode struck.

On a happier note, I am 4/5 for wins at bathurst in ford gt. The one I lost was because I couldn't connect until 15 minutes after the race started.

Watched it too, but it wasn't netcode. He took Kamui out by moving his car just as he wanted to pass him.

Was not good either way. I wish those guys hadn't talked (or screamed) on the mic as much. One guy almost blew my headset off and made me mess up the falken corner (sorry I don't know the name :( ). Only very minor damage and I kept trucking along, but it was kinda frustrating.

That's not cool... I don't have voice chat enabled on iRacing, so I missed that part :)

Catching up on some DVR'd races and the Truck race on Friday, I almost thought I was watching an iRacing replay with the 1st lap carnage!

It happens. Most people don't have the decency to wait for a clear track to turn around or get facing the correct direction. I'm used to it now.

I was able to pick up a pole to win in the second race that I tried. 0X as well.

Switched my throttle and clutch sensors and moved the board and bracket over since the problem persisted, the cleaning before i switched them made it better to a degree but it would be hit and miss on it registering the first 25% of the throw so we'll see how the sensor switch goes, hopefully it doesnt turn out being the pcb itself.

Ah crap. Just ran a GT3 race where I got dq'd in the final corner of the final lap. Guy in front of me kept parking the bus to keep me behind him and I started racking up 4x's until he ran out of fuel and I had nowhere to go but in his rear. Shame.

Can you make it on 1 tank of fuel in the BMW? I feel like going slow and saving fuel would be pointless if you drive fast and take a pitstop. Say you loose 2 sec a lap to the leaders and the pit stop time is about 40ish seconds, after 25 laps the leader couldve already made a pitstop and still will possibly be ahead or right behind you.

I haven't had the time to try it out yet but I might give it a go tonight.

Yes, you can make it on one full tank if you run on fuel setting 5. Seems like lap times are down in the 1:09's when you do that.

The guy that won in my lobby made it without stopping. Though, had I not missed the pit entrance and had to run a 2:11 lap after that to make it to the pits, I would have come out in front of him.

No one else in Proto-GT this week? I'll probably be in today's and tomorrows 19.00GMT race if they go official. During the weekend is TBD.

I'll probably run one or two on Friday. Depends on if anyone posts a setup or not that I like though.

GT3 side of things. In the Bimmer, I was able to run 1:06.6 with fuel setting 5. Not sure if that will make it to the end at that speed.

Im just gonna run a pitstop strategy then because if i run consistent high 6s/low 7s i should be good on keeping ahead of the fuel savers.

I will be doing proto GT. Was in a practice with @Jav yesterday for a bit. Those were my first laps so I was a total scrub... And I thought he sent me a race set and it was a Q set :P

But I'll be in there this week.

Not liking anything on the schedule for the other series this week so I'm giving the HPD a try for the first time ever. I'm not very quick but I'm confident about doing a race mistake free now so I'll try doing one tomorrow.

For Proto-GT, I'm using the same setup as I used at Road America. It works better for me than the Spa specific setups that were posted on the forums. My quali lap is 2:02.777. About 2.5 seconds off from the faster guys, but that's better than in the previous races :p

Just did a quali before I got off, was amazed how much difference low fuel makes and got a 2:02.4 and was chuffed. :D

For you GT3 Z4 guys. Here's some data that I've just taken.

Running on fuel setting 1, low 2:06's and mid to high 2:05's, will burn 17.9L over 10 minutes. (125.4L over 70 minutes). Running on fuel setting 5, low 2:07's and mid to high 2:05's, will burn 15.4L over 10 minutes. (107.8L over 70 minutes). So, fuel setting 5 is something like One second slower than fuel setting 1. Over 34 or 35 laps (The average race distances so far), fuel setting 5 would be 35 seconds slower. Now, with fuel setting 1, you will need to make a pitstop for 15L or more of fuel. Taking on 15L of fuel, I have calculated from point A on track to point B on track that it will take a time of 46 seconds to refuel. From the same points A and B without the pitstop, it will take 19 seconds to make the same distance. Do the math, and that means that you will lose 27 seconds from taking a pitstop and running on fuel setting 1. This means that fuel setting 1, with 15L of fuel, should be about 7-8 seconds faster over a race distance.

This being said, you could potentially run fuel setting 1 for the final 3-5 laps after running fuel setting 5 for the entire race and still make it (I believe). This would still put you around 4-5 seconds slower over a race distance.

That's my race set as well, just add fuel and rise the ride height if needed.

Can someone tell me where the Skippy and Star Mazda are racing this week....I might actually get a chance to do some laps tonight :)
