Just started Iracing i don't have any deadzone or atleast nothing major, i even didn't change any setups yet.

But i am already done whit Iracing. my T500 died today. just before i was trying the next race my steering wheel didn't center itself. it kept stopping some degrees to the left. I disconnected all wires and plugged everything back in, did it about 3 times. But whitout any luck. So i restart my computer. some minutes after the fans stopped. Now its doing nothing. The fans are not working and even the MODE-light does not go on. I have power though. I bet its a overheating-problem. Litterally

It seems a common problem for the T500...

Think theres a coolers mod somewhere.

I also got a hot T500RS, until I modded it. Problem is that the tiny holes in the plastic covering the fan is just to tiny so the fan actually can't do it's job. The job it try to do is to remove hot air from the engine inside.

I opened up the plastic above the fan to one big hole and it actually became a bit more silent and the air it blows out is not very hot, because the air now flow that much better.

I also have a problem with the wheel not going to center when starting up the computer, I turn the wheel all the way to the left and let it be there then plug it in. Then it find center.
I also had to do this on the PS3 so I doubt it's the computer or the drivers, it have to be something with the wheel itself.

Hope it start up after having it off for the night Maxitsu, if it does I could talk you through a modification of the wheel to make it a cool wheel. ;)

I have 2 T500 wheels both work great, however the second one's fan has never worked. This wheel has worked rather well, i have raced the 2 hour "120 minutes of Thunder" i have raced several 80 minute races and it works like a champ without a fan. The other T500's fan works great as does the wheel, i think it is possible to use a T500 without a fan. Both of them are early versions and are almost 2 years old.

How,without fans? might be possible but risky:crazy:

Maybe the earlier versions are more stable. V2 that I got really is a good wheel, but it's annoying when the wheel doesn't even get to center when I start up the computer. I have to do that unplug it, turn it all the way to the left and re plug it. If it breaks I'm not going back to Thrustmaster to buy a new one.

When the wheel gets used and I have to restart the computer (windows update or something) I can sit and watch it try to calibrate for 3 hours if I want. It just turn and turn some all the way to left/right and some very short movment, but it just can't calibrate. Unplug it and re plug it and it works.. if I remember to move it all the way to the left before I plug it back in..

The wheel is to expensive to do this, but it really is good when it's up and I guess that's why I can "live" with it. But if it break.. I have to look for a replacement as I'm not getting the same wheel again. I saw Fanatec had a pretty new wheel since last time I visited that site. Looks promising ;)

I have not had a single issue with either of mine, besides the fan not working in #2 wheel :D Is your wheel driver updated? I never unplug my wheel, ever. If your wheel is having problems you might want to reflash it, there is a procedure on the correct way to do it in the archives here, somewhere. If that doesn't fix your wheel I would send an email to TM and see if they can help you. You might want to order new brake springs while you are at it. :)

I have the latest drivers, I re flashed it using the description TM have made them self, also tried the bootloader way of re flashing it.
I'm in contact with TM by mail and they so far have sent me standard answers on exactly this.. Like I was a fool not reading the manual. So I decided to give it another go.. It have to be the forth time I try it and then get back to them with a precise answer.

I just didn't want to do it yesterday as the wheel work when I do my special procedure by turning it all the way to the left before plug it in. And I didn't want to do this just before the grand am showdown race yesterday.

Problem with it is that I have to re calibrate the wheel and the pedals in iRacing every time I reconnect it or I get a on and off brake pedal and it's pretty hard to avoid wheel lockup.

Thanks for trying to help Left888, but I'm afraid Maxitsu isn't the only one having to buy another wheel. And as GT5 brought me to iRacing, the T500RS have brought me into a world of realism so buying a G27 isn't going to cut it. And I wont re buy a product that have given me so much problems. I still think going to http://www.frex.com/gp/ got a bit to expensive for a sim race hobby though, but the club sport thing from fanatec looked very nice and I know a guy owning the CSR elite and he is totally in love with it.

But I really hope TM can help me get the T500RS to work as I spend quite a lot of money on my new computer just a month ago and explaining another expensive buy to my girl wont be easy :scared:

apparently i fixed it, it was not the fans. I tried the reboot thing, installed it. But my PC didn't find my T500. it never works.

Then i did do it on a other computer and my wheel came back alive.

for some reason my wheel can't be updated from my pc. Strange, once its reset it is just plug it in the other pc. i don't understand the wheel is dead on PS3/Pc while on a other Pc it works again. :scared:

Were do i find the options in red?

Damper at Ovals is perfect i could shave of a second of my laptimes and compete against guys in higher divisions. Its much more smooth driving.

But on road tracks it felt like i was a rookie(well i am but), i just had no feel in the car.

Those options are on the T500's calibration screen, not iRacing calibration.
