Actually it sounds like they almost didn't find him. While the intel was reliable in this case, the soldiers had to notice a crack in the floor to find the trap door to Saddam's hole. It's just like in The Great Escape when the Germans find the first tunnel.

Comical Ali - the Iraqi information minister - was captured ages ago.

For those of you unaware of Comical Ali - the guy in the picture - he used to read outageously inaccurate reports of how the Iraqi Army was winning the war against the "British and American infidels". Like when he said there were no "enemy" tanks in Baghdad - "In fact, we killed them all"...

That picture is quite old... I saw it first in when US vs Iraq war was going strong, round about when US troops captured the airport.

The text used to say something like "We have destroyed 2 tanks, fighter planes, 2 helicopters and their shovels - We have driven them back." (and the US soldier in the background is coming in)
