With the start of Season 2 upon us I wanted to take some time to remind all of the competitors to please read through all of the 1st page of the Original Post. Many of us have not raced one another but many of us have. We have some very fast and competitive drivers hear but we want to get the season off to the right start.

I also wanted to address the possibility of competitors whi may possibly get lapped during the course of a race. If it is possible that somone will be lapping another or wll get lapped the following is my advice and probably the best practice:

The driver being overtaken: should hold a steady line and NOT move about in order to let the faster driver be. Hold your line and be predictable. The passing driver is counting on it.

The driver doing the overtaking: be mindful that the other driver may also be in a battle for position in another class. If you can do so, without losing significant time choose the best location on track to make the overtake.

Most of all - let's all do our best to be alert and aware of others around us.

I will be reviewing replays for major incidents.

Thanks guys and good luck! This should be a lot of fun!:gtpflag:

If I may add and I hope I am not out of place by adding. The driver overtaking a lapped car(and the car being lapped) it is actually considered I respectful move to signal the car you are lapping with a single flash sequence of the headlights. The intent is to let the lapped car know that you are a lead lap car and you plan on passing them soon and safely. It is mean't to get the attention of the lapper to let them know where you are at on the track and both parties can make good judgement on the upcoming pass. That being said, the only time I flash my lights is on lapped cars and it is for that reason. They do it in real life. Lol

Also, if you are being lapped you don't have to slow down that much. Usually just a simple ease off the throttle is all you need. Because if you slow down too much it can actually cause problems.

I just wanted to add that little note. It is good racing practice.

That explains a lot! I didn't know any of this? Thanks for the info!

And on the Nurburgring during daily track days the cars being passed will use their turning signal to indicate which side of the track they are going to stay on. You can do this as well to help indicate which way you will be going if you feel the need to move off the racing line.

Guys

In a fast paced race people should just hold there line. Stay focused on what you're doing and hold your line. Please don't look for turn signals or move off the racing line.

If a fast driver is coming up behind you PLEASE DO NOT LIFT OFF THE THROTTLE AND THEN MOVE ASIDE. PLEASE.

Just hold your line and your pace.

I unfortunately am going to have to drop out of this series. I just started a job and I'll be working weeknights, so it takes priority. Sorry all, I was looking forward to this.

How rude of me!

Congratulations on the new job!

I hope you will check in often and see how the series progresses.

Post #2 has been updated to reflect the Driver Classifications.

Pro-Am - be advised that you will accrue Ballast for finishing 1st, 2nd or 3rd in your respective category. In the same manner listed for positions 1,2 and 3 in the Pro class. This will make the Pro-Am division very competitive through the season. :gtpflag:

Tomorrow is Race Day!!

Race 1 of Season 2 looks to be action packed as no competitor will have to deal with Ballast. The Pro portion of the field looks enticing to see the least with several drivers showing they can put down some impressive pace. The Pro Am field looks equally impressive with drivers that look to fight hard over the course of the race in varying makes and models of Gr.4 machinery.

If anyone has a conflict and cannot attend please post up.

Please be mindful of the livery rules. Anyone needing assistance with a livery should feel free to let me know and I can cook something up.

Hope to see you all there tomorrow night!!

What time will lobby be open?

Race Night Format:
  • Day - Monday Nights at 9:00pm EST
  • Practice: Practice Lobby opens at 8:30 pm EST
  • Qualifying: Qualifying starts at 9:00 pm EST - 20 minute session
  • Drivers who miss qualifying will be placed at the back of the field.
  • Race: There will be a 5 minute break between Qualifying and the Race Start. All drivers must remain on track so times do not reset and the host can set the grid.
  • All races will be held in a Friends Only Lobby hosted by PSN ID = GentelmanRacing, unless otherwise specified.
  • Race starts will utilize a rolling start, however, lap 1 will be a FORMATION LAP. Vehicles are to maintain a safe distance to the vehicle in front. Weaving for the purpose of tire warming is permitted only in sectors 1 and 2 of the circuit. It is strictly prohibited in the final sector. Upon nearing completion of the formation lap drivers will form up the grid by filing into two rows based on starting position. The driver in Pole position has the choice as to what side of the Circuit they want to occupy at the start. At the conclusion of the formation lap, the driver on Pole will start the race upon approaching start/finish

Race Day!!

Okay everybody. Please be sure to clear your cache before entering the lobby. This may help us avoid connection issues for folks in the lobby. Thanks.

If anyone is changing vehicle please post it up today before the race.

If my professor is willing to let us out of our night class early every race week, I will be able to race. Here is the #91 Viper Gr. 4 that will run in the PRO category.

Copied from "Livery Rules" spoiler tab:

  • Using the stock livery is prohibited.
  • Any livery that contains foul language, pornographic material, and/or political themes is not allowed. Violation of this rule will result in the driver getting kicked from the race lobby.
  • Use of chrome paint chips is not allowed.
  • Official IRS GT4 Championship Series Number plates will be required. Cars must have this number board visible on both the driver side and passenger side doors. Display of the number board on the hood and the rear of the car are optional.

  • Headlight covers must remain clear.
  • Mid-season livery changes require race organizer notification. Minor alterations to the original livery are permitted if needed to correct imperfections or to add a secondary/small sponsor logo.
  • The official tire sponsor of the Championship Series is MICHELIN. MICHELIN logos must be placed on front of the vehicle in the area below the headlights and taillights. Designers may use the in-game MICHELIN logo or any reasonably similar custom logo.
  • Designers are free to use any lubricant, suspension, ignition sponsor logos they wish for their designs.
  • When designing your livery please be sure to select one of the default number boards in "Racing Items", upon doing so enter the number you will be using for this series then deselect the default/in game number board. This will allow your race number to be displayed above your car in replays. Feel free to contact me via PM with any questions on this. Thank you.
