I am trying to build triple LCD supported by Eyefinity or someting else to get 5820 x 1080 in 3D, but is it possible?

Tom

Eyefinity and 3D is very poorly documented and supported.
Single screen seems okay, but going multiple screens I've not read much about it being used, yet AMD advertise it as a feature.

The biggest problem with what your after is frame rates. 7970 isn't powerful enough as a single card.
Even the latest Nvidia 690 may struggle with the latest games to offer 3D in 720p multi screens with good frame rates never mind 1080p multiscreen 3D. Older games not a problem.

It is possible but not many games are supporting it. iRacing should work fine. But you need eyefinity compatible monitors and nvidia graphics card. Anything else or console will not work.

Well GT5 works in 3D and multiscreen, though 720p as I previously demonstrated with triple projectors but you can have syncing issues with glasses. Would work fine with a passive display and no issues of syncing multiple screens to 1 set of glasses.

Very entertaining it is too with a sense of realisim/depth .

The GTX 680 should have no problem doing it if you lower the resolution to 720p (3840x720) instead of 5760x1080.

I ran 3840x720 3D perfectly on triple projectors with 560Ti's in SLI.

I can't comment on 3D though, there's a couple people on the iRacing forums who have done it though.

Nvidia's 3D solution is more mature than ATI's. If you want to go triples in 3D, you are better off going Nvidia.

This video from ISR shows its possible and how to set it up.

So 3D in full HD on triple LCDs is possible, but as it is in life, there is something for something. Immersion is superb, based on what I read on iRacing forum. But there tend to be some ghosting, shadowing problems. What is even more interesting, 3D slows down in terms of lap timing.

I got a hard nut to crack since buying PC for 3D Surround Iracing (where we have to bear on mind Iracing is not a game dedicated to 3D as other games) is pretty expensive, esp GPU's prices are killing.

Buying 2D surround is much cheaper, but less challenging. I am asking myself a question whether to wait a bit to let it develop or just to call my shot.

From my perspective the biggest con is the darkness in my room. If I want to race in 3D I have to do it at nights.

After the sleepless night, I have decided to build my 3D triple LCD PC for iRacing. It will bore a hole in my wallet but gotta live with that since when you love you forgive! And according to WHO love is a disease!

And sooner or later we end with this!

PS Here comes my final set

Scythe Grand Kama Cross CPU Cooler, Intel, AMD
Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD4, Z68, DualDDR3-1866, 4xSATA2, 2xSATA3, HDMI, RAID, ATX
Kingston HyperX 4x4GB 1866MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM XMP
OCZ SSD Vertex3 120GB SATA3 2.5'' MLC ( 550/500MB/s read/write), 3.5'' bracket
GTX 680

Hope it will give in iRacing what I am expecting

Finally I got my iRacing PC at home. What can I say? I burnt loads of money. I needed to change the motherboard since the first one was to weak.

Was is worth it? Sure it was since immersion is unimaginable. Peripheral vision improves better cornering.

Conclusion - if one can afford having triple screen for iRacing, do not hesitate!

I've read in the iRacing forum at head office where people pretty much say just what you said. My only 3D racing was in GT5 on my 63" Samsung upstairs. It was OK at best. I would love to see iRacing in triple screen 3D one day, for now I like it on 3 screens.

Hey Tom, I just finished reading the 3 page thread at the iRacing Forum I hope to read about it in a famous PC Magazine in Poland one fine day.

2D on triple LCD amazes me. Cannot imagine 3D on it. I will have to train my brain and eyeballs for this kind of experience though.

As far as my PC, it is tough to teach sellers what to sell in terms of technicalia.
