Is a hard drive REALLY required?

I'd love if damage was an option. Because i'd still love to trash someone's MC12 with my Enzo because they didn't have a rear window to see my speeding up to them...
But I know with damage comes the inevitable 12 year old in Dodge ram..bashing into anything that moves.

but what I really hope for..is fastest time around the track w/ any car..
And fastest time around the track w/ the car you're using both being displayed...
Because I'd personally love to see my name next to the top time for say a Mira Traxx, but still get like DEAD last in the overall bests

Not all cars can take advantage of the same line.

A 256 mb memory stick would be more expensive than a 20Gb hard disk and it would be nice to make your own soundtracks to the game and be able to download new content. So yeah I definitely think it would add to the quality of the games. I don't think it will make it possible to make games even better, but it would be required to be able to personalize the gameplay experience.

You cannot change what Sony set out to do now which is too sell either a HDD with the PS3 or one you can buy for it.

You know what would eliminate all that comparison?

If somehow..someone came up with a series of green yellow and red arrows along the track that gave you the best race line... Hah, jk.

But, of course(me digging too deep into the game) you'd have redo alot of the game or atleast patch it constantly as more and more people figure out loopholes in the game/tracks/cars to allow for faster times...

Not every car will peform the same on any given race line, which is why it would be great to compare lines with others. It would just give you that reference point. If you're driving an FF car, and the guy who beat you used an FF car, you can look at his line, and compare it to your own. Personally I think this would offer endless possibilitys as far as getting better.

And the memory stick may be more expensive than a standard HHD, but Sony won't sell any HHD under $100. Personally I think it'll release with an HHD available, but it'll be priced at $100 and probably be in the area of 60-80GB.

100$ for 60GB would be quite mean. It should be at least 80GB for that kind of money. Also, it needs to be at least 7200 RPM. Of course, 10K RPM would be better.:sly:

Then for an 80Gb drive it would be closer to $200 probably, based on the price of the WD Raptor.

Granted it might be "mean" but this generation they charged the $99 for the HDD and FFXII, and given Microsofts price points of $100 for 20GB, I don't see sony letting up, they'll give us 60-80GB for around $100 (more than likely bundled with something).
