What so if it ends up being 2 discs you won't have anything to do with GT4? Isn't that a bit stupid?

If it ends up being two discs I won't post here anymore. That isn't stupid. It's smart.

i hated gt2 having 2 disc.... just annoyed me for some reason :banghead:

dint annoy me. i NEVER played arcade mode

hey you said it. it's 2, read em 2 disks. So get lost (jk). One arcade, one simulation just like GT2. And what the hell is everybody talking about with the "cars taking up too much space" and such. What you should take into account is not the NUMBER of cars, but rather the huge high-resolution tracks that eat space. Car models arent nessessarily huge files in themselves just because they look good you know.

Yeah, it is not the cars, it is the samples, videos, and tracks that take up the most space. But I'll have to agree, there will most likely only be one disk.

Well I personally belive that it will be 2 disks... possibly one thats gonna be Simulation and the other with Arcade/ Online play... Kinda makes sense...

Sorry for bringing this thread up from the bottom (but its not that dead) :p But there are no videos in GT3. When you preview a race, it just configures the paths of the AI cars, and loads them up, same with the track. So its pretty much a race that you cant control. Thats the same with the replay, the game records where you braked, how fast you went, and when you turned into a corner. The only REAL video in GT3 is the opening video. ;)

^^^ For Example, when you save a replay on the memory card it is much smaller then like a car config. ^^^

On the topic of how many CDs, I think GT4 will be only 1 DVD cd. Remember that GT2 was on PS1 and it was only CD-ROMs that it could play.

1 CD-ROM CD = 700 MB :irked:
1 DVD-ROM CD = 4.7 GB (4700 MB) :trouble:

So a DVD is WAY much larger then any regular CD and they can surely fit the data.

Maybe thats why could fit so many cars and extra modes unlike before...DVD CDs were totaly new to developers when the Console Wars were on and they probably didn't use them to there full potiential.

Each car and track in GT4 will use alot more disk space than the same car or track in GT2, there is a much much higher polygon count and level of detail both of which take up disk space, I wouldn't be suprised if it came on 2 DVD's, 4700MB's isn't that much today. When I download new cars for games on my PC they car take up a few MB's, if PD have over 500 cars at 3MB's each for arguments sake, your looking at over 1.5GB's already, then again if they have a new compression tool that works they could get the cars to below 1MB each.
