Personally I don't think it's good enough for succeeding versions of any game to just be better in some aspects. It's also not acceptable IMO to introduce bugs into systems and features that worked in previous versions, nor to take stuff away that served a purpose and had no drawbacks whatsoever. Camber worked in GT5, it does not work in GT6. Ride height tuning was backwards in GT5 at first, then neutrialized (not fixed, they just made rake irrelevant) and now it's backwards again in GT6. For a couple of months you couldn't copy and paste your tune sheets. No more top speed given when tuning a transmission. The individual gear ratio sliders that worked beautifully, suck in GT6, they are too sensitive in the higher gears. No more scaling of the mini-map, an important feature for determining who was near you in online racing. Etc. etc. etc.
Stuff is added or taken away with what seems like no real thought or planning, and certainly without listening to feedback from the fanbase. For that reason I'd have to say GT5 is the better game, there just isn't enough progress made with GT6 relative to the 3 years between launches.
