Is hybriding impossible for newbies?

Yes and No. U can change the name, but only to a name that already exists in the game. Lets say u have the 911(966)GT3 in your garage. This car is not saleable, or tradable. If U click on that car, and then right click and select change car, at the bottom of the page there is a box that says base only. Mark that box and then hilight the RGT and click select. This would change the name of the car to the RGT, but leave the rest of the car intact, and make it tradeable and saleable. Other than that, U can't make up names.

Also, while your messin around, notice that U can double click on a part and copy/paste it to another car. This can be a time saver, if for instance U have F1 tires on a car in the garage, and U want to use them on another, just double click on them, then right click to copy,. double click where U want to install them and right click to paste. Take care to be sure u are putting them in the right place,IE: don't copy a turbo into an NAtune slot. In any instance, assuming the program is in text mode, which is the default mode, any improper parts will appear as code rather than a part name written in text.

One more tid bit. U can give your cars a small idetifying tag by double clicking on the cell just below "Car Type", and typing in text, I think up to 16 letters. It doesn't show up in the game, only in MK's, but can be helpful to identify cars when U load them into MK's.

Oh yea, do U understand about importing and exporting cars?

Actually, hybrids can't corrupt a save, but hybrid builders can.:D
That is to say, a properly built hybrid will not, but a misplaced or bogus code(human error) will freeze a game. Still, by definition, it's not really corrupted, but it won't function.

Oops, my bad. Got mixed up again (as I usually do) :irked:...

Not really no, please explain.

Also, what exactly is the "CarBase" I'm assuming it's the car that your basing your hybrid on, correct?

Carbase controls the name of the car, as I mentioned in a previous post about changing a cars name, this is done by changing the car base only.

As far as import/export car, U also see these options when U right click on your car. It works on which ever car U have a cell hilighted in. Export car, will save your hybrid to an ini file on your pc, which U can then open in notepad and edit. Click on the car U want to export, right click and select export car, in the screen that pops up, give the car a name, and select a folder to store it in, and save. U can then open the ini to add downforce, grip, shine ect... and resaave the ini file. Now use the import function to bring the new file back into MK's with the new settings. Also, U can use it just to store your cars on your pc, and email them to others.

When you export your car it makes a copy of it. It saves that car to your PC as an ini file. So say I made a really cool hybrid and wanted to send it to my friend. Instead of sending him my whole garage I would just export my hybrid and send him just the car to insert into his garage.

Yes, U use the write garage function to save the garage to your pc, then in the xport software U use the import function to bring the save into it and the restore function to send it to the mem card.

Thanks Heydu :) You and Frustrated Palm have been so helpful! :D I'll send you guys PM's, or post something here when I make my first hybrids. I can't wait this is going to be so fun :)

:D To Heydu & Frustrated Palm,
THANK YOU BOTH!!! I've learned more in the last ten minutes reviewing this thread than in a couple of hours of messing w/MKs program by myself!!! thought I had it figured out but "Learn something new everyday", really applied today!!
Thanx again...UB57

Hey Heydu/Frustrated Palm, if you guys have SharkPorts, would you guys be interested in trying this hybrid I just made? I downloaded a garage off the net as I don't have the X-Port yet, here is what the car's specs are:

F686/M Majarvis Spec :D

F094/S brakes
F094/S chassis
F094/S suspension
F094/S tires
Honda NSX Type S Zero Stage 3 Weight Reduction
Honda NSX Type S Zero Engine Balancing
Honda Civic Type R Displacement Upgrade
Honda NSX Type S Zero Racing Chip
Volkswagen Beetle 2.0 Stage 3 NA Tune Up
Suzuki Alto Works stage 3 turbo
Honda NSX Type S Zero Full-Racing Muffler
Toyota Supra Racing Intercooler

So, according to my calculations on my calculator here, the new specs for my F686/M should be:

Power Output: 8305hp
Weight: 459kg
Engine Type: 1.56L Turbocharged V6

I have no clue what colour it is, but I'm just wondering if it actually runs in the game, please don't tell me how fast exactly as I want that to be a surprise, but just say how it drives and if it's really really fast on the Test Course :D

Another question, what does the "ext" after some cars' parts mean in MK's program? Is it they are the prize cars' parts? If so, by using them over the non ext parts, such as engines, will that mean they will be at peak power right away and you won't have any "break in" period?

Hey Majarvis, I have you to thank for making my life swell. This morning when I woke up I didn't know ANYTHING about Hybrids. But I read your posts, and I decided to just do it.

UB57 also encouraged me and told me how easy it is.

For the people that are scared about what Hybriding is etc.

DO IT, it is very easy and simplistic. Get a sharkport and you will be able to do it.

I went and bought one today and I was on my way.

I started by just making pretty crude hybrids today and I have only screwed around with about 15 cars.

So far I have:

RX-7 RZ w/787B 4 Rotor engine.

NSX Type-R w/F1 V10

S2000 w/ Calibra 16,000rpm V6

Miata w/SVT Cobra V8

Miata w/Spoon Civic 18,000rpm I4

Civic SiR II w/3.0L NSX V6

NOMAD DIABLO!!

F686/M w/3,053hp (WAY TOO MUCH)

Civic Type-R w/S2000 I4

This is just for starters. I wanted to see if it would even work. But it did, and I will probably erase those cars and start with better ones.

I haven't been able to figure out how to increase downforce.

I am also just figuring out how to modify other things like suspension and tires.

But I have just opened up an additional 500 hours of GT3 playing time!!!

Hey no problem 12sec. Civic. I agree, it's so easy, I have been making hybrids left and right, just practicing for the day that my X-Port comes in the mail, hopefully it will be this week (fingers crossed). For anyone that think it's hard, it isn't, just download MK's program, get a SharkPort/X-Port and you're set. As for those out there who use a GameShark to do it, I don't know how you do it :P

Anyway 12sec. Civic, you wouldn't be interested in trying some of my hybrids I made and telling me if they work or not would you? I know FP said he would, but the more the better, and give any feedback in there as well :)

Anyway, back to my question for the experts ;)

Ok first thing's first. STAY AWAY from the Alto Works Stage 3 turbo. Even though it does increase power 321% it is very sluggish and doesnt come on until the very late rpms. It is not a good choice. I put it on my F686/M and it gave me 3,053hp. It has high hp but is literally torqueless. The fastest top speed I could reach was 365mph. and that was still in 5th!!!!!

The Diablo is a very good car. I dont know what people are talking about when they previously said it cant stop or turn. I will say that it has a bit less lateral grip than a regular race car. And it isn't extremely nimble or fast. But everyone knows Lambos are all glamour and not much go. Well maybe 0-60 and top speed go.

Out of the hybrids that I've done so far, ones that worked well were NSX Type-R w/F094/S engine and S2000 w/calibra V6.

The Miata with the Spoon Civic Type-R engine isn't very fast but its kind of cool seeing it and hearing it rev to 18,000rpm.

The Miata with the SVT Cobra engine isn't very easy to drive, but I made it as a request from my brother.

In my last post I also forgot to say that I made an SLK 230 w/ CLK Race Car V8. It is actually quite driveable, but it still only has 465hp. Sounds cool though.

What are some engines that sound cool?

I have one question for all of the Hybrid guys though.

If I change the chassis of a car, and lets say the new chassis is from a car way bigger than the car I put it in. Will the wheels line up with the wheel wells etc?
Or lets say I put an RGT chassis in a Miata. Would the Miata then be rear heavy as if the engine was in the back?

:D To 12sec. Civic:
Be careful swapping chassis/bodies. I was working w/GT40 & gave it a GT-1 Road Car body by mistake. The wheels DID NOT line up w/wheel wells & it looked very strange. Have you tried the "Sample Cars"??? I only loaded one & it's pretty bizarre. Big holes where tailights should be, chassis doesn't line up etc. but the replays are really wild!! I think #6 is the one Heydu says to stay away from as it locks up your PS2. Don't have TOO MUCH Fun!!!!...UB57
:D

Ok a couple of comments. The ext... after some of the parts/cars, does represent prize cars, but using these parts does not have any different affect on your hybrids. Choosing an ext car from the change car list however will give U the car at peak HP.

As far as the comments about the Altoworks stage 3 turbo being sluggish and not to use it, that is an awfully general statement. I myself tend not to use any turbos over 185% or so cuz I like hybrids between 400 and 1200 hp, but the bottom line is that certain turbos will work better on some engines than others, so don't write that one off because it didn't work well with an F! engine.

As for the body/chassis swap, these are fairly easy.
1-Decide what body U want to use,
2-Open up the change parts list for chassis,
3-Find the chassis for that body on the list,
4-Note the wheel base of that chassis,
5-Now put your cursor on the top of the wheelbase column (where it says wheelbase) and hold in the left mouse button and drag the column all the way to the left,
6-Click the "sort 1st col" button,
7-Now go down the list to find the wheel base of your body and U will see all others with similar wheelbases grouped together. It's generally best to choose one that is within 25-40mm of the original. Generally the lighter weight ones will give U the best handling, but other things like the drivetrain type of the car the chassis comes from also play into it.

Oh yeah Heydu... do the different F1 tires handle different? Like do the F094/S' tires handle better than the F686/M's tires for example?

Ok

and as for brakes, I've been using F094/S brakes on all the cars I've been making because I figured they are the most powerful brakes in the game (because in real life they sure are, or close to it) so is this true in GT3 as well?

And another question, with different suspensions, will it also make the tires spaced farther or closer apart? Or does it just affect the ride height? For instance if you out a Mini Cooper's suspension on a Corvette, would the tires be under the body, if you know what I mean?
