Is it just a matter of time until GT gets the F1 licence, or will it never happen?

Will GT ever get the full F1 licence, and do you want it to happen?

I like how you answered my question after I said

Lifes too short to be a downer, put your hopes down and everything will always exceed you expectations. Put it on roof cam and suck it up.
Also, since you dont like listening to me, ill just leave this here

Come on now, you know how this works. Someone posts, another person goes "HUH?" and here comes the reply. Roof cam stinks, can't suck that up. Funny how "suck it up" only works for one side but not the other. I prefer "stick to your guns" personally. Besides, bears gotta eat too.

Let me reiterate.

I had a very positive comment, and you attempted to tear it down with your negative thinking.

What did that accomplish?

After seeing what PD has done with WRC & NASCAR, I hope they never get the F1 license.

Half ass implementation, no flags, no qualifying, not having a full schedule or even half of the tracks the series races on.

No thanks.

Now that you mention it, its been a LONG time since any racing game followed proper flag rules... EA Nascar maybe?

I can't see it happening myself. I would suspect that the cost is such that it would need a standalone game to bear the license fees.

The closest GT ever came was with the 6 slightly anonymous F1 cars that appeared in the Japanese and American versions of GT3. At least you coud race them in the game though!

Codemasters, in my opinion did an excellent job for a first attempt at an F1 game. Now the core of the game is in place they can spend more time on the little details for F1 2011. Examples being, the podium after races, mechanics that actually look different when you change teams, maybe walking around the team motorhome instead of a trailer, a better pre-race build up, non-repetitive interviews and press conferences, an optional TV style hud and maybe optional commentary for people who prefer a TV style presentation (not myself I may add but it would be pretty cool to check out). Add little things like that to the inevitable graphics and gameplay tweaks and we're on the way to a dream F1 game.
Yeah, and how about when some knob takes you off in qualifying and takes out your front wing and his, but gets back on track and sets a competitive time while you can barely keep the car straight.

Come on, F1 2010 is a diabolical game that sucks the joy out of racing. I don't want to spend $60 on "an excellent first attempt." An excellent first attempt is when your 6 year old kid brings you home a rock painted with acrylics for father's day and you display it proudly. F1 2010 is an unmitigated disaster in practically every fashion. The only good that came of it was using it to get $30 off GT5 at GameStop.

You don't like F1. I can understand that.

But...."diabolical game that sucks the joy out of racing"? Come on....it's a pretty decent game overall. It has it faults and shortcomings, but no more than GT5.

GT5 is a 70/100 at best. PD missed the boat on a lot of things on this one, and it shows. Yes, the premiums interiors look fantastic. Guess what I am NOT looking at when racing? Did we really wait 6 years for upgraded interiors and jacked up shadows?

If anything is a painted rock here, it's GT5. (Arguably the worst GT release to date, IMHO).

Let me clarify...

I love Formula 1. I've followed it ever since watching Gilles Villeneuve racing at Long Beach and I have played more F1 games than most players have had hot dinners. F1 2010, IMHO, is one of the worst implementations I have played in a long time. And it is soulless, which is actuallynot too different from the actual sport. This was a good F1 season, but that was also because we have seen so many years of drudgery.

I wasn't comparing F1 2010 and GT5. I don't even want to discuss the merits (or lack thereof) of GT5 because we all have our complaints about it and they are well documented, but it is fun and I feel like I got my money's worth. Obviously with F1 I did not feel that way.

What I don't like about F1 2010 is so many people think it's the best thing since sliced bread and then when you point out the many issues with it you get the "good first try" apologists coming out of the woodwork. I don't want to buy anything that falls far short, but was a good first try. Those products don't often get a second try...

I'm not hatin, I'm just sayin...

Maybe you're not familiar with Formula 1 but yeah all cars are on the track at once in Q1 so things like that can happen. So the AI car set a competitive time after losing it's front wing? Funny that, every time I've seen an AI car lose it's front wing, it automatically pits and I've spent a lot of time playing F1 2010 and seen it a lot.

I think maybe, just maybe it was a little bit too hard for someone to get to grips with and that's why you're ranting.

I didn't say it was perfect but it is an excellent interpretation of Formula 1.

It'll never happen because gt5 is ps3 exclusive and there's no way an f1 game will be released on just one console.

Really?

I have to agree about F12010 being a disappointment, I've been an F1 fan for years and have played so many F1 games over the years. F1 2010 shows good potential for the series, but it is so buggy and so many annoying things about it, it was my 2010 biggest disappointment.

Obviously you didn't purchase Call of Duty: Black Ops then? lol

F1 2010 is a complete disappointment x3

the only people who think F1 2010 is the best are the people who got the Need For Speed

^_^

I really hope that PD never ever gets a full F1 license, those guys would just ruin it. I don`t want to play the 2011 F1 season in the year 2014. I don`t want F1 cars sounding like vacuum cleaners. I don`t want a F1 game with such poor pit stop animation. I don`t want a F1 game with cars, which don`t have a "moving" suspension (Sorry, no native speaker, but just look at the FGT and you will understand what I mean).

I would love some classic F1 cars (Sennas Mclaren, Villeneuves Ferrari, some cars from the 60s etc) as DLC for GT5, but please don`t give that guys the full license...
Codemaster are doing their job right. No body needs to tell me that F12010 is buggier then GT5 or got less quality/more quantity.

I got the Need For Speed!

yo I got the Need For Speed

its funny to see a video of Lewis Hamilton and Nick Hamilton playing F1 2010 just to get paid by codemaster's worth a year profit and then trash the game.

Speaking of simulation they have used data simulation they've used in the Ferrari F10 to then be in GT5 also with Sebastian Vettel exclusivity to the simulation I mean he's developed Ferrari F10's simulation and now he's world champion!

Ferrari allowed PD to use its simulation data not car data so if you have any questions about Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull being a part of the simulation development then too bad because F1 2010 is as hideous as it can be although I do like the damage modeling but for a focused F1 game it still just hideous for what it is.

Drives absolute rubbishness it is one of the all time horrid F1 games.

Like what Sebastian have always said that the Ferrari F10 in GT5 have always been like a real F1 car to him its one of the all time greats

Hmm, and I was just getting excited about the idea of getting F1 2010 until I read some of these posts.

You should try it (rent it) first I mean I have a huge respect for them having FIA license on F1 , the damage modeling is quite nice and career mode for a season is pretty much like a real F1 season with real regulations and restrictions

But has it worked?? Absolutely rubbish simulation / driving.

Because the simulation is again absolute rubbishness I mean 0 / 10 for a simulator I mean that's what it really is when you compare it to GT5's F1 by world champion vettel , redbull and ferrari simulation data , although some Need For Speeder's are saying it isn't real because they can't even go past 100 yards without crashing.

I mean you will see it when you rent it I mean rubbishness

Is F1 2010 the best racing game ever? No way in hell
Is F1 2010 the worse racing game ever? No way in hell
It's a very good game with a few flaws, reminds me of another game I know. Upon initial release F1 fell victim to bad timing with me. I was in a hot series with a group I race with which was just winding down (our recreation of the ALMS series) and GT5 I got a week early among other games and life things. So I never really got to take the game to the next level of play. I felt bad about that because I thought GT5 was going to be the next "killer app" but I will soon be carving time back in for F1 because I did have quite a bit of fun with it.

It's the one game that after I finish racing I'm drenched with sweat.

F1 is the only game I know where someone tire comes off and this happens

AND I can actually feel the tire rubbing on my tire through my steering wheel WHICH also was slowing me down but being I was in cockpit view at the time I didn't know what was happening till I watched the replay.

It does have damage modeling but for an F1 only game its still not the best damage modeling.

The thing is if your used to the Need for Speed way you can't really expect to not crash on the first yard on the F1 by ferrari , rbr , sebastian vettel

F1 2010 simulation again is just too crappy its very pre-calculated although the developer claims it isn't , Gold diggers isn't it

But has it worked?? Absolutely rubbish simulation / driving.

Can you sign my Ferrari cap?

You must be a F1 driver because you know how a F1 car should handle.

Geeez, no F1 videogame in this world is realistic. Seriously, if the physics were realistic, 99,99% of all players would be unable to get a clean lap. They wouldn`t get the tire/brake temperatures up, they would destroy the rubber, no one would find a perfect setup, nobody could cope with TCS/ABS=OFF...

F12010 is never meant to be a "realistic" f1 game. And you can be sure that GT5 is as far away from being a realistic f1 game just as F12010.

Edit:
The AI is maybe pre calculated in qualifying, but its still atleast 10 times better then your GT5 AI.

GT5's F10 does move its suspensions

also if your crashing on the F10 before you even pass a yard stick then you "shouldn't be implying your skill to your opinions"

its too realistic and people who plays need for speed usually cant drive even a yard stick without crashing.

, F1 cars don't lose grip like that and that easily, and I don't need to drive one to know that.

Stop all those ranting about physics in GT5/F12010.

Its just a game!:ouch:

We all play those games just to have fun.

Thats the reason why I don`t want PD to get full F1 license...

actually it does in real life and this is said by Sebastian Vettel 2010 world champion

especially for the 2010 cars because they have a very slippery rear and a very grippy front and for the most part the Slicks are very very grippy so you can expect to just loose the car quite easily when it let's go , plus you can use either hard slicks or medium slicks for less grip but more durability that would make it some easier when it let's go but obviously if you haven't been motivated of driving a realistic F1 car then you will crash , you have to be motivated to get it going like a real F1 driver's motivation you have to have it and you can't base your skills to your opinions.

F2007 is a much easier car it still has wheel fairings and a wider rear wing with extra mini aero's on the rear sides.

F10 is a much difficult and tricky car to control it has a slimmer rear and most of the rear down force only comes from the smaller wing the rest of the rear are made to be very slippery , the front has a wider wing and for the most part slicks works much much better with more down force and much much worst with less downforce and that results to a very very grippy front and a very very slippery back and that produces better performance for more experienced drivers. The weight distribution of the F10 is very different from the F2007 too because in 2010 season refueling was banned so it has a much wider / bigger fuel tank and that made it different it terms of weight distribution in comparison to the F2007

Both f10 and f2007 have very different aerodynamic rules.

Do you implying that Im just to bad to drive the F1 cars in GT5? Ok, Im pretty medicore, but in GT5P I always managed to get into top 200 on the leaderboards with the F2007.
Thanks good that there are people like you who know how F1 car should handle, right? BTW, try to put all assists off in F12010, it will make alot more fun and its atleast as challenging as driving a F1 car in GT5.

And I didn`t talked about physics, I talked about the game itself. And yes, I don`t want that PD includes the F1 series half assed just like WRC and NASCAR. I want a real F1 games, with actual cars/tracks/ruels.
