Is it possible to play other conosle games on the PS2?

What I mean is, is it possible to play games from GBA, Dreamcast, N64, etc. on the PS2? I heard someone put the games on a disc and played it on their PS2, but I'm not sure if it's true.

Unless someone wrote an application for PS2 (which is difficult in itself) that emulated images of the games on a CD.
