Ouch - way to kick a man when he's down :O If memory serves I was actually trying to give you the place too, after KO'ing you earlier in the race but you came up the wrong side of me :banghead:

Honestly people - you gotta believe me - this is NOT one of my typical moves

Sorry, P3nT4gR4m, I didn't realise you were "down"?

All I saw was someone who was on an 'up' trying to belittle those who prefer to drive a different type of car as yourself, and at the same time questioning their driving ability for doing so. That's a very dangerous thing to do around these parts, as you've already found out . :sly:

Chin up, mate. 👍👍 :sly:

it takes real skill to pull out on the limit times in a RWD consistently whereas in a 4WD it is a lot easier, hence Men drive RWD. Boys drive 4WD.:sly:

So what do women drive? :p

As most of my friends know, I prefer the mid rears myself, mostly on slipery tyres. It's just personal preference and means nothing of anyones abilities.

women drive FF lol...only joking. yeh i agree it doesn't mean anything with regards to ability...i just think it shows the kind of car they prefer racing, some people like to have a consistent easy win and some people like to try really hard and get that extra special reward when they get it right it makes it 10x more enjoyable imo.

i still drive 4wd's now and again so i have nothing against you guys.

Didn't mean to cause offence to anyone. It was intended as a bit of light hearted banter. I am annoyed that with the new tyre restrictions all the 'idiots' eg punters and rammers have taken to 4wd cars but this, in no way reflects on gtp or gtrp or other tagged-up drivers. My dig at Rudi was intended as a joke and nothing more - he's one of the fastest guys on 4 wheels at the moment - who am I to criticise? And, as you quite rightly pointed out, I've been spotted in and made numerous positive comments on the EvoX.

Once again - sincere apologies to any noses I've put out of joint with my 'noob wagon' digs. I'll stop it now :guilty:

Yeah, look I'm not being an elitist or nothing and I'd be an idiot to say that only poor people drive 4WDs. Pent and a few other guys would have no doubt seen me on the weekend hustling around in an R8 on Suzuka and I'll freely admit to that.

People are welcome to drive what they want, but you MUST admit that with the new tyre specs, RWD and MR cars have become vastly more difficult to drive. I'm easily 3 seconds a lap off the pace of what I can do in the R8 and the R8 is a piece of cake. But I'll just as soon park my ass in a Viper, a Jaguar, a Corvette and do it the hard way.

There are people out there who used to be 'Clio Tuners' and are now 'Lancer Tuners' all of a sudden with the new tyre rules. Makes me a bit sceptical about their motives and makes me wonder why these people don't try a trickier car just for the heck of it. Why is it people are always using the fastest car? Afraid they'll get shown up in a lesser machine? Happy to take the cred for a win but afraid to take a battering in a tough ride?

As for Pent, I've seen him pull over and stop more times than I can count, so I'd never question his integrity. Rather disappointed that you'd post a link like that Sphinx, showing a one-off and inaccurate picture of one of the more honourable racers online. The fact that you kept the video, posted it online 12 days after the event and then linked it here in this thread shows who is the elitist in my opinion.

;)

I'm actually faster in Suzuka in the RX-7 than the EvoX. Offline, that is. Haven't tried the RX-7 online yet. I admit I chose the EvoX online because it's easier to drive. I hate to put others out of the race because I mess up in a difficult car. After I get more practice I'll definetly use the RX-7, it's alot more fun and alive than the 'point and shoot' EvoX.

But I'll just as soon park my ass in a Viper, a Jaguar, a Corvette and do it the hard way.

And that’s a personal preference, and good for you, but you won't see me, and I doubt anyone else put you down for it.

There are people who enjoy racing, and there are people who enjoy driving. In order to race up front with the pact, one needs the tools to do so, and if that means using a Lancer or whatever to race, then so be it. You like to drive a variety of cars, and good for you, but you won't see me, and I doubt anyone else, put you down for it.

Why I store video footage for 12 days or more is of no concern of yours. However, if you really want to know, it was marked down for deletion some days ago, and If you care to go the Online Racing Videos (ORV) thread, you will see what I’ve been planning to do with this footage:
I'm clearing out all the recorded races I have over the next few days. I have no idea what they contain because they were just recorded at random, but I'll wade through them and pick out the best ones to post.
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3031670&postcount=98

I found it ironic that as soon as I came across this footage again, I also came across the same person attempting to belittle other drivers about driving skill and the cars they drive. As the footage shows, he not only drove the very car he was attempting to put down, he also showed lack of skill whilst driving it. I’m sorry, but if you want to comment on these things and belittle other drivers, then you need to make sure that you’re squeaky clean before doing so.

You also mention Pent’s integrity and how he is an honourable driver here. For the very short time he has been here, and for the very few races I’ve raced him, I have to agree 100%. That footage wouldn’t have seen the light of day if it wasn’t for Pent’s dig at Rudi, a guy who has proved himself for years, whose integrity and honour far out weighs any of ours, and yet it appears that it’s now okay to belittle him by having a dig about the car he personally prefers to drive. If you think that will go unnoticed and without retort, then you’re very much mistaken.

Since when does driving, say an Evo take less skill than a Viper? That's pretty laughable. If you're cruising around and not :nervous: / :scared: in the Evo then well, you're not 'driving' it.

You use what you use, if they want to change the game well, geeze you gotta change with it I suppose..👍

Okay, look, can we drop this already? I've apologised once for upsetting any 4wd fans who might have taken my comments to heart and I won't do it again. I'd intended it as a bit of light hearted banter, as one might have a dig at a rival footie team but it seems some people round here don't get that kind of humour, even when accompanied by winks and smileys. So lets just try to put this behind us.

Once and for all I have nothing against 4wd's, evoX being my chariot of choice right up until they changed the tyre restrictions. And, to be honest, I'm probably going to go back to that just so I can compete with the punters/rammers online

Sphinx; That footage wouldn’t have seen the light of day if it wasn’t for Pent’s dig at Rudi
I didn't see Pent taking a dig at Rudi, all I read was a compliment and everything done in light jest, but as soon as you read Pent's post you went and posted questionable footage about something that appears to be a one-off racing incident without first clarifying the matter with him. That in my opinion is hardly fair Sphinx. As a moderator to a fellow GTP-er I would have thought you would have sent Pent a message after the incident, but you didn't. Why not?

It may be none of my business, but hey, you were the one who said you had this footage from two weeks ago and you posted it for the intent of discussion. If you don't want this to be other people's business, why did you post a link in the first place?

To clarify my position, the issue was about the number of people who aren't online anymore because they don't like the new tyre events and my take on that is quite simply because their driving skills don't appear to be up to scratch to handle cars with lesser grip or inferior tyres. Where have the plague of Clio drivers gone to? They can't handle the Clio anymore, I saw it in spades on the first day of the new events and soon after, they were either all gone, or had switched to Tuned Lancers.

Go figure....

AERO_HDT i'm sorry i hit you off just after 200R on Suzuka..i didn't mean to do it, but you did get pole because of it lol, i was in the subaru impreza or m3. big respect to you for hustling that viper around suzuka and finishing with some pretty respectable finishes. keep it up. my ID is GTP_Sarlech. :)

I'm trying very hard not to be insulting  ... but gotta say you are so far up yourself with this tyre issue debate! get over your godlike skills and let the lesser racers play the game too ... just forget they are there if you see an Evo on the track and soon you will disappear into the distance on your golden chariot 👍

Do you honestly think you are better at racing because the other guy drives an Evo to get more grip? I assure you I know plenty of guys who race the Evo's for the fun factor and can very easily switch over to a slippier car and throw down laps you could probably only dream of :p

Get off your high horse

Come off it, have you not seen me running around in a Clio since, afterall I suppose I was one of the plagued Clio drivers too:rolleyes:

I have been looking for other cars to drive since though, the Clio isn't fun to drive anymore, sure its quick but it doesn't feel balanced. I tried the evo x but it doesn't feel like a fun drive, I have tried the f430 but its not particularly fast in my hands. To say that I just jumped ship the moment the tyres changed because I don't have the driving skills I find quite offensive, sure maybe you weren't talking about me specifically but to say everyone quit driving the Clio because after the tyre change they didn't have the skill to drive an FR car is very naive.

Especially if you consider the Clio is an MR, not FR. :dopey:

Last time I was on a horse, I fell off it, hehe, but here we go.

*ding ding*

Mr P, did you see me post anywhere that I will outrun any Evo in my golden chariot?

No.

Look, it seems like I've offended a lot of people and NOWHERE have I bignoted myself. It's not my nature. Unless I'm mistaken, I posted before about how I was running around Suzuka in a 4WD the other day...

And yeah sure there are people out there who will throw down laps that I can only dream of, I never said there weren't and I never made ANY claim to being a superfast-this or superfast-that.

My observation was that 4WD cars are easier to handle than RWD or MR cars with the current tyre regulations and I've been seeing grids full of 4WD cars where before there may have been 3 or 4 out of 12. I'm now seeing 10 out of 12 4WD's on a grid and no Clios anymore.

Now I'm not talking in reference to myself, but what I'm saying is that when a guy in a Ferrari or a BMW is taking wins against a field of 4WD cars, then they are the real deal. I had no intention of offending the all-wheel drive brigade, all I wanted to do was point out that the opposition in the yellow F430 was doing it tough and deserved recognition. I have major respect for people who can consistently punch above their weight and score results in cars that are much more difficult to drive around Suzuka than an Evo or WRX.

LOL, the more I open my mouth, the more ammunition you guys have to throw back at me, but you know what they say about sticks and stones hehe. But you'll never find me chest beating, because I'm usually the guy who finishes well down the order in a race and that's fine by me. I was just observing and giving credit to the guys who finish at the pointy end of the field in cars that really shouldn't be there.

*sticks out jaw*

Who wants another shot?

:nervous:

Why you couldn't post it like that in the first place I don't know?

I agree with most of that post as the Viper and Jag etc are much more of a task to drive! but the way you delivered your comments in your original posts were more of a dig at people in the Evo's and Clio's as if they had less or no skill in your eyes.

Yes the guy in the Viper who wins the race against a grid of Evo's has done a great job and earned his win for sure the hard way! but that was his choice to take on that car ( and it paid off ) as it is others peoples choice to drive the Evo's but it doesn't make the Viper driver a more skilled racer overall ... car choices are there and people will make their own without thinking what people will say about that car.

edit: holy crap! my first ever post with no smileys!!!

edit: fixed :p

I did make a serious point about this, tho, I think it would be a good idea for PD to offer 'segregated' races in the next update. A good driver will beat me every time in a 4wd and a bad one will nail me into the kitty litter almost every time. It's kind of killing the fun since the pp limit isn't balanced anymore. 600pp 4wd > 600pp FR/MR. Only time I get a decent race is when there are a bunch of ferraris and NSX's on the track and those moments are few and far between :grumpy:

For what it's worth, I'm in agreement with P3nt on this one. The tyre restrictions really penalise those people who want to drive MR or FR setups.

If they're going to impose tyre restrictions (and I'm certainly not against that, it's made the whole thing far more challenging), I do think they should run drivetrain classes to even out the field. Or bring in one-model races as they've done for the beginners.

That in my opinion is hardly fair Sphinx. As a moderator to a fellow GTP-er I would have thought you would have sent Pent a message after the incident, but you didn't. Why not?

After the racing incident? I didn’t send him a PM because he apologised in a thread about that race. As far as I was concerned it was just a stupid move on his part that was regretted some time after. At first I didn’t think an apology would be forthcoming as he logged off GTP directly after the race. I therefore prepared the video footage and uploaded it about 12 days ago to show him his error, he then rightly apologized and I therefore didn’t show it to him, in fact, I even forgot it was already uploaded, hence the reason why I uploaded it again yesterday. Take a look at my videos to confirm this.

It may be none of my business, but hey, you were the one who said you had this footage from two weeks ago and you posted it for the intent of discussion. If you don't want this to be other people's business, why did you post a link in the first place?

By all means comment on the footage if you wish. I said before, and allow me to reiterate:
why I store video footage for 12 days or more is of no concern of yours.

There is nothing there to say you can’t discuss the footage, however, the reasons why I had the footage for 12 days is of no concern of yours. Again however, to ease your curiosity, let’s just say that my old CS professor always rammed home to always log and document everything. I guess I managed to at least learn something whilst at University.

To clarify my position, the issue was about the number of people who aren't online anymore because they don't like the new tyre events and my take on that is quite simply because their driving skills don't appear to be up to scratch to handle cars with lesser grip or inferior tyres.
Go figure....

Or perhaps they simply don’t enjoy driving it like that and therefore opt for a different car. I tried the Clio once before the update and even though it was clearly faster than the current car I was driving, I simply didn’t enjoy it and therefore didn’t use it again.

Go figure…

I can assure you that if this was about your driving preferences being belittled I would be here defending you against such comments. Because that's what I do, regardless of who you are.

Oh by the way;
Seeing that you placed a wink at the end of your post (#66), am I therefore safe to assume that this post was also done “in light jest”? I think not. Many people tend to place a nod and a wink to their posts to hide their true thoughts, just in case it flares up so they can all say it was all done in jest. Based on your post #66 I see you’re not an exception to this sly method of posting. If I’m wrong, I apologise and just to satisfy my own curiosity can you therefore explain why it’s there please?

I spent a lot of time playing over the weekend, and tended to see the same people in most every race (Daytona intermediate). Then I'd change over to, say, the High Speed Ring Clio race, and just watch the tumbleweeds bouncing across the track.
It's funny how even though you can't chat, you see the same people and start to think of them as some kind of friends. And then they ram you into a wall while you're both sprinting for the finish.

Had a couple of good races on Daytona road course with 3-4 other racers. But then, of course, I got into one with one guy in the GT test car who kept ramming my Lancer X. I won, by the way. :)

I haven't played it in over a month.

Is it region-free yet ? That's what keeping me away. Along with the lack of invites / private races.

I'm still loving my Clio with S2s. Yeah, maybe it takes more concentration to drive it consistently fast, but I'm still finding it competitive... and fun. The success of a race depends on the skill & goodwill of all the drivers. A couple of over-eager bashers can make a real mess of a race.

I feel it would be nice to have some longer races - it would take away the "pass-all-cars-in-one-lap" syndrome & lead to more careful, tactical driving. Let's face it: with super-drafting you don't need to smash & bash in the turns to overtake.

hi mates

all what i can say again is...

dosen´t matter which car you are driving, the driver is the point and not only the car. ;)

so, will we see us again on track. 👍

Look, Sphinx, I've been around forums for quite some time, even been a mod on some, and I can see how disagreements can sometimes turn from discussions into personal arguments. Things like that are never beneficial to anyone and I don't take any of this stuff too seriously or personal in any way. It's not a sly method of posting, when I'm really upset, I won't put winks or anything like that, matter of fact, I'll leave my real name at the end of the post just to make sure everyone knows I said it.

I throw a wink or a grin or a thumbs up because for me, posting is about getting people to react, to have thoughtful insights, comments and perceptions and not to turn the board into a one-liner chat-room. If I can initiate some heated discussion, (which it appears I have) then I'm all the merrier for it.

Ever have these sorts of discussions in a pub? I do all the time and whilst sometimes it gets a bit rowdy, there's always a 'You right for another beer mate?' at the end of it all. I'm not a sly poster, I take that sort of remark personally, but I DO post and word my views in such a manner to elicit a response. I would have thought that being a Moderator here, you would appreciate that.

Now.... are you right for another beer mate?

Sonny.

I would not say Prologue is dead, but it is not living high and mighty right now. Just true GT fans play online now I think. Even me, who loved FM2 online, can still enjoy some GT online. It is easy to get a 750pp race, but that's were a lot of idiots are at. I love the 600pp and 500pp races, by far the closest races I have had in GT online. But not many people there. I noticed after the initial hype wore off for me, I got irritated by the long matching times, constant lag( mainly small amounts resulting in the other cars not moving smoothly, but jerky), and inability to do almost anything you should be able to do. But its still alive, just maybe on life support.
