I meant 20,000,000....sorry...brain dead.....This car was awful for me, in GT5. Just hate to spend that much again if the car is crap. Thanks in advance for the help.

I didn't know of any GT40 in GT6 that only cost 20k. If there is one please tell me where I can find it and I'll buy it in a flash. /s

But I think you mean 20million credits - and if so which one do you mean? If the Gulf Livery one - then no, it's a standard car, has no interior and is inferior to the Premium 20million Ford Mk IV Race Car '67. It's personal choice at the end of the day though and I would sooner drive the GT40 Mk 1 which is premium, 2 million credits and much more fun to drive in interior view.

Although saying that I own the GT40 Race Car '69 in Gulf Livery but have yet to drive it in GT6, so cannot say if it handles better or worse than it's premium counterpart which I have driven and enjoyed very much.

Buying a car from the 60's and expecting it to handle like a dream may have been your first mistake. I think it's worth every bit of the 20,000,000 asking price, due to it's history. Sure, it wasn't the official Ford Motor Company backing the car when it raced. But the fact that the older GT40 mk. I's could be so fast after the tuning done under the Gulf team is something special. Back then, it was probably something really surprising.

I got the premium through pre-order and have to say it is a beast. As said previously, not the easiest thing in the world to drive, but that's half the fun (IMO).

It is gorgeous to look at and one of the few cars in GT6 which has a brilliant engine sound to it. I also saved and purchased the premium road going one as well as I'm not a big fan of the anniv edition liveries.

Short answer: If you're willing to put in a bit of time to adjust your driving to suit it, then go for it. If you're worried it'll bite your head off then don't. 👍

If you're referring to the Gulf liveried Mk.1 GT40, then no; don't bother. Get the premium, road version instead since it's cheaper and you can customize it more than the racing version.

The MKIV and MKII Racecars are worth 20 million each. TBH the grinding necessary for them is a big turnoff.

I think the MkIV handles very well considering it's so old. I used it to win a lot of races in career mode. But I wouldn't buy it for 20mil credits. No car in the game is worth that much money if you only care about performance. You'd only spend that much money on cars in the game if you care about collecting them. I bought about a dozen of them using the money glitch from 1.01. I was anticipating having to sell them for money at some point.

Yes, not for it's handling or speed. Then you should buy a GT-R or something but more for its great historical value. ;)

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! It IS worth the 20 million credits!

I am currently working on a tune for it; stay tuned for it! It's a really nice car to drive if you tune it properly!

Well, i would say that in the game, no car is worth 20 million, but well, they're supposed to be priced like that because they're historic cars, its your choice to buy them or not. Luckily I did the Merc VGT glitch :sly:

NOOOOOOO don't do it!! Don't spend all that money on one car worth that much, you should keep it. Better to spend less than buy something that'll end up sucking, you know? ;)

The GT40 isn't worth that much credits, but it also doesn't suck. So if you really like it and think it's worth the credits, at least it drives well and can win races.

I hated the Mark I at first, but now I absolutely love it. A good setup makes a world of difference. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same with the Mark IV. Don't forget this! the stock setup could be really bad, giving you a wrong idea of what the car is capable of.

In these 2 posts, I explain how to get your Credits back if you dislike a car you just bought:

You can get the "Street" GT40 for free in one of the Goodwood Hillclimb events. It's a very nice car, visually and mechanically. The race cars are not worth it since they are Standard and you can't really customize them that much.

You can drive it there, not keep it. It's not a prize car.

The gran turismo black carbon version is very nice if you want a bit more than the detailed basic car. Both can do very well with a tune which supports your driving style. Over the period of time with GT you'll get the resources to drive them all.

To be honest I think it'd be pretty hard to gain 20,000,000 Cr. worth of satisfaction from a standard car, but the MK. IV was fantastic for me in GT5 (what a sound!), and the premium road car is also fantastic (looks amazing + once again, what a sound!).

They do give it as a prize somewhere. Not sure where did I get mine because I know I didn't buy it.
Birthday car perhaps? The GT40 is not a normal prize car in GT6.

You either bought it or have the 15th Anniversary Edition.

Or as sparky said from a birthday ticket.

I keep going back and forth on this. The things I keep coming back to are (1) I already have a solid collection of cars that can win all the career races and (2) I almost have all the stars for all the career races.

At this point, all the money I'm earning just playing the game, I'm not going to buy cheaper models just for tuning and racing online. At least aiming for the $20m to get the premium cars I want (Ferrari 250 GT and GTO, Ferrari P4, Ford GT Mk IV, etc.) gives me something to do and keeps me coming back to career mode.

The only thing I'd ask for is better career-mode races for the historic race cars. I want to be able to take a Ferrari 250 GTO to the 24 minutes of Le Mans challenge and actually face Prototype and GT cars of the era instead of a field of modern LMP1s.

Easy to verify, is your car the Mark I @HuskyGT? is it dark blue?
I golded all Goodwood events and 99.9% of the game (only Senna Brands Hatch left) and I never won a Ford GT...

No car without an interior should cost that much. Rip off. Get the other 20m cars first.
wow no interior, really? I don't drive interior view but for a 20mil car that just shouldn't be.

@Awong124
I know lol! that's what I said, just wondering if HuskyGT might have the Anniversary Edition... wrong person quoted?

According to the prize car thread, no Ford is ever rewarded for anything.

I have the rest of the 20million cars and 90% of the cars I want (496). I was really let down by this car in GT5. I just wanted to get players advice before I spent that much on it again. Thanks everyone, you just can't beat players response they're the ones that know.

Hmm... Maybe I bought it. I really don't remember since it was a very long time ago. Maybe it was a birthday ticket. Oh well... Either way it's an awesome car.

If you want the look of driving the classic but the modern suspension of the GT, you can always get the racecar with the classic gulf paint scheme in the Ford dealer for under 2 million. Comes with a 6 speed over the slacking gearbox in the '69. The '69 also has the crackly exhaust like the ZR1 RM, which is incredibly annoying.

If you're just looking to drive a classic GT40, you can upgrade the Mark I to match the specs of the '69 and spend a tenth of the credits.
