I haven't gotten the chance to try it yet, just wondering if I will beat it the first time I play it.

Not really hard once you get a hold of the car since it can be very decieving, you feel like you are doing fine and bang, you spin.

As dark_ruffo said, just be aware that it has heavy oversteer and you'll be okay. The problem with the championship is that it's essentially an endurance race - 20 laps on 6 different races.

Don't drive the FGT for the first time in this series. Get used to it a little first.

You need to be consistent and smooth. There is room for some error but not as much as an FGT in a Sunday Cup race.

I'm kind of holding out on this one hoping that the supposed update allowing enduro saves includes the ability to save championships between rounds. It's hard to get 3 hours to knock this one out...

Anyway, I did try one of these races once and there was something weird going on with how easily the AI cars caught me after they pitted. They literally made up 17 seconds in one lap. I haven't tried it again though, but I plan on it soon.

As stated above, the car will get away from you pretty quickly. Be smooth smooth smooth with your inputs to steering throttle and brake.

I won gold for the series by 1pt.

In the end I won 3 races, I quit Monaco as that was just stupid. I quit Monza as I had full wets on as was raining heavy but the AI was crazy fast, I had no chance. And I finished N'ring in 4th.

Suzuka was raining too but I won that by 30s or so, I can't understand why the AI were so fast on Monza :(

Just don't go off track. The AI's actually drives pretty ******, they brake 0,5 seconds too early all the time. Only one you might struggle with without a good setup is the Monaco (Cote dè Azur or something) it's very hard to catch up the lost on that track. My only advise there is crash your way to the front on the first 3-4 turns and keep the lead, if you lose it by 2 seconds you are probably doomed.

EDIT: lol, is that word seriously censored?!

I did start this series a while back using a DS3 and won the first then lost the second and gave up third early on, so gave up because I didn't want to waste all that time.So I done a couple of them seperately, also because I didn't want to spend that long racing in a row. I decided then that to get any fun and chance of consistant winning that I would need a wheel.

So I now have a G25 wheel ,I'll give it a crack soon. Regarding the FGT series do you still get the prize car if you do the races seperately?

cote d'azur was the only hard race in the championship, I won all the other ones. They're just 20 laps per race :yuck:

I didn't find them hard at all. I did use the stability control though because I didn't want to do any of the races over to get first. I never had to pit for anything too.

I've found this one to be pretty difficult, using a DS3, with wins at Fuji and Indy, an 8th at Monaco, then somehow with all the AI spins at Nurb they still catch up to me and end up punting me somewhere along the way. It's just difficult to keep the FGT under control for such a long period of time. 120 laps with that thing just gets mind numbing. I literally had the most massive headache after trying to concentrate on keeping that turd on the track. I think I'll wait til the in race save becomes available. I know it can be done though.

I used the DS3. You need to get used to the car first. Then you can win the first 2 Fuji and Indy races with some blocking. 3rd is hard, pass all you can early and block. Nurburgring is easy, just drive the track and pass them all as they spin out. Monza is also easy if you cut the corners. Keep the softs on in the rain on the last race and you will lap the field.

This was the only series where I had to turn on the driving aids, and I've done all of them up to the endurance events. I guess it was hard because I use the DS3, but I don't remember the FGT being this finicky in GT4.

driving it with driving aids on is pretty easy. i beat it in first try without any prior experience with the fgt

Is the formula GT championship hard?

For whom?

It's important to understand a couple things.
  1. Players' skill varies very, very wildly. What's simple for some players will be nearly impossible for some and just right for others.
  2. Players on a message board like this one do not represent the average or typical player, but rather tend to lean toward the higher end of the skill spectrum.

So, when you ask if something is difficult, the answers you get depend on who is giving them. If you're asking someone that represents the top one percent, they might find an event to be fairly easy even if the bulk of players struggle to varying degrees with that same event. Also, when asking a board like this one, we're more likely to find an event to be easier than what the average player would, because on average we are typically above average.

If you're an average player, you're going to find the Formula GT event difficult, plain and simple. It's arguably the most demanding event in A-Spec (in terms of skill, disregarding the patience of sitting through an endurance race). You can take a FGT into another event against lesser cars, make some mistakes, and still win easily, but in these events you're up against roughly equal cars so you enjoy a much more limited margin for error.

Even if you go into other events and use a car that's fairly equal to the competition, you're still using cars that don't demand quite as much skill to push them to their limits, and cars that grant greater margins for error due to their more sluggish (relative to the FGT) pace. In another car you may brake for a corner for, as an example, 2.5 seconds, and if you're off by 0.1 seconds it's not a huge error, off by only 4%, but if you brake for the same corner in a FGT for just 1.0 seconds then being off by just 0.1 seconds is a much larger error, as that is now off by 10%.

Either way, it should be the most challenging event you face in A-Spec. Whether that's overly difficult, just right, or easy for you depends on your skill level. If you've found any of the other A-Spec events to be a bit of a challenge, you should find the FGT championship to be even more so.

I did it with DS3, TCS 2 and ABS 1, but i did all the races before, and when I did managed to win them easily, then I did the Championship, won all races and quit on suzuka because I was a bit tired of FGT, dificult car to drive and control.
So my advice practice alot with it before doing 3 hours of championship, so you don't get frustated.
Worst race for me was nurburgring because I didn't overtake them before the last chicane and they took me out on 3 of the 5 first laps and had to make up 22 secs to first, but when I got first managed to make another 12 secs to the 2nd guy because they still wouldn't do the chicane without spinning.

^This.

Then again, the FGT series is way easier in GT5 than it was in GT4, that's sure - no matter how good you are. The good thing is that the setup doesn't matter as much as in GT4 and you can use a general setup and everything should be good if you adapt the transmission (max speed) according to the track. Just give it a try, probably the best event in GT5. :)

Not too difficult, but what the hell is the AI doing at the 'Ring? Almost every lap on the chicane, the majority of them spin.

Yes, very obliging of them isn't it! Daftest thing is they spin after the chicane, at low speed. :dunce:
If they get in front of you, you just have to patiently wait for them to go off roading and you win easily.

Once you have the right setup for the car, to be found on this forum, you could, to get to know the car, drive an endurance race with it, I did Grand Valley and after that the car had no more secrets for me... I won every race with at least 1 lap ahead of the nr 2 car. But don't make a mistake, or 2, they will be back on your tail in no time.

I'd liked the championship so much that I did it again, but with an FGT which needed an oil change, and I've kept my gears too short, like the AI, and then it became a real championship.
