Is the minolta the fastest non formula car?

Does anyone run the GT-one on tires other than racing soft? It comes with racing hard i think but when i switched to racing soft it transformed that car into a complete bad***. I could barely control it on racing hards.

I'm pretty sure the GT-One competed in 1998 and 1999. Not 1990. The car that did win that year was the Jaguar XJR-12. Brundle was part of the driver line up.

A little more information on the Toyota GT-One, it finished second at the 1999 Le Mans, one lap down the winning BMW V12 LMR. Thanks in part to a burst tire forcing it to pit. Also, the driver line up for that year was all Japanese. Brundle had no relations with the Toyota team.

Hi, Brundle was the no.1 driver I think for Toyota in 98 and 99 (car #28 in 98 and car #1 in 99). The GT-One also held the lap record of Le-mans until recently (and I think the only reason for that is they changed the circuit).

I have always gotten on well with the Toyota GT-one in GT, with soft tyres it seems to be the fastest thing in my garage, followed closely by the minolta. I seem to be able to be more consistently quick in the GT-One though.

For different styles of courses and drivers, there is no one correct answer. Some cars will run faster lap times on higher-speed courses, while different cars will be faster on lower-speed courses.

i won a race againts two minolta in nurbergring by Benz CLK-GTR , but it was a very close race i won by 0.660 i think.. & thats because i made a mistake at the last corner :P

Ok i did some Power to weight ratios; =P(bhp)/w(kg) (all results rounded to 2 decimal places).
Mazda 787B = 702/830 = 0.85
Minolta = 936/850 = 1.10
Toyota Gt One = 600/900 = 0.67
Peugoet 908HDi = 713/930 = 0.77
Citeron GT Race Car = 615/1200 = 0.51
So the Minolta is therefore the fastest on paper.
All values were taken from http://mygranturismo.net part from the GT One which was taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_GT-One

Also they were using the GT-One as a test bed for their first F1 car too I believe. There was also a Scottish driver who went from the GT to the F1 car.

I finally got my GT-One this morning and it is by far the quickest LM car I have ( got the R8 , Speed 8 , Minolta , CLK-LM , Ford GT )

GT One is useless for me around the track... or maybe I just suck with it. :dunce:

Always post my best laps with the Minolta and the C9.

It needs a smooth style to get the most out of it, where as the Minolta can be thrown about a bit more. That being said they are both sketchy and the back can snap easily.

Ah, thanks for the clarification.

Yes I couldn't work out the fully tuned p-w ratios since I didnt have the data. But I know that the Mazda has over 1 :1 ratio fully tuned and that the 908 dosnt.

Isn't it funny how the Minolta Toyota and the Toyota GT-ONE are 2 of the fastest non-formula cars in the game and yet Toyota never won at Le Mans with them?

That is funny :)... it clearly shows the glaring difference between reality and GT5.

Being the fastest doesn't automatically mean you're the winner!Especially at Le Mans. Just look at the Peugeots in 2010.

Not winning La Mans doesn't mean the car itself wasn't / isn't capable. That said I do believe the Minolta is the quickest car in it's class.

Oh and having a superior power to weight ratio doesn't by default mean it'll have the highest top end speed. But more importantly a superior power to weight ratio will yield quicker acceleration. Of course gearing, drag cof, etc also play a roll.

I managed to get my Jaguar at 280+ MPH when slipstreaming at Special Stage Route 7 and without streaming, 245 MPH at the Circuit De La Sarthe. Sure it was tuned with top speed set at 298 MPH, but I believe that should be faster then the Minolta, although I haven't touched that car aside from a few specific race, nor have I tuned it.

this is because the fastest group C car of all isn't in the game.

(the 962C, of course)

That and the 956 were the best, yes. But not the fastest by a long shot.

That would be expected if those F1 cars were setup normally. La Sarthe is a bit more top-speed-friendly than the courses F1 cars normally race on, so F1 cars are normally configured more for twisting with speeds rarely exceeding 200 MPH. With a low-downforce, higher-speed setup I wouldn't expect the GT-ONE to beat them.

I had it setup for online Group C racing so it was normal setup not wound out for top speed, it only hit 239. Maybe the F1's didn't gear out? Yesterday I ran a 3:21:226 at Sarthe 2009 with chicanes in the GT-ONE. I ran Sauber, R8, R10, 908, 787, and Minolta and next closest was Sauber at 3:23:486. I think if I setup up the Sauber better it would beat the GT as it has better acceleration I think. Also my right hand is fractured so my shifting is a little off. Here is a GT I wound out to 265 no drift.

Set up for racing I gear it for no more than 239-240. If the GT is raced at any other track than Sarthe I have a hard time with it.

You would think considering this is a prize car and how much it gets used that it should have gotten the premium treatment... Or at least swaped for the 787...

Strange really... And the FGT seemed like a good choice for premium too... More things that defy conventional logic...

Toyota GT One, 263 MPH no slipstream
Bugatti Veyron, 285 MPH no slipstream

I have proof of both if needed.

Cadillac Cien, 253 MPH no slipstream
Ferrari Enzo, 253 MPH no slipstream
Ford GT, 253 MPH no slipstream
TVR Speed 12, 248 MPH no slipstream (possibly 250)
SLR Mclaren, 253 MPH no slipstream
SL65 AMG, 253 MPH no slipstream

Someone on this forum got his Toyota GT One to 282 MPH no slipstream.

the Audi R8 LMP is wicked fast.. with my tune i can get repeatable 2:12s on cape ring without much effort from that car.. i havent been very fast with my GT-One.. i think i definitely need to spend alot more time with that car.. or maybe it is just because the engine on mine is a greenie.. (got the car with 0 miles.. dont remember from what trade though.. oh yes i traded a 905 now i remember).. maybe once i wear it in and tune it a bit more itll take off

I wish I had the C-60 hybrid but you cant buy it from the dealership. :yuck:

A lot of the group C's are close. I've done alot of Le Mans racing and I can tell you this Japanese guy in a Peugeot 905 was the fastest I've ever seen. There are so many diff cars that you cant buy, its crazy.

I've got some Le Mans cars:
Minolta: Can't handle:lol: so I can't really drive it to full potential
GT-One:Incredibley stable and is wicked fast
Peugeot 908:Also very stable and I think it's the best.👍
