I know Nascar cars are supposed to be all the same in real life.

But as we all know, the game isn't real life. So is there a "best" Nascar to buy? :dunce:

All Nascar's are built to 100% equal. That has transferred to the game. People might say that the Jeff Gordan car or Jimmie Johnson car is best, bu that would their affinity toward a particular driver.

Agreed. All Nascars in the game perform the same. Only difference is how well you can tune them

As said above, they are all equally built. As in real life, the only way to make your car better than another is by adjusting it. GT5 doesn't have all the adjustments that can be made to a NASCAR, though.

Seeing your avatar & NASCAR reminds me of the following lyrics: And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking...racing around to come up behind you again!!

I think they will add per-wheel settings hopefully. So then you can tune for an oval correctly with different rates per side/wheel.

Heck yeah, that would be great. It would be nice to be able to adjust individual air pressures and camber/caster in each wheel.

They are NOT all equal, some have different spring rate adjustments. I have the #14 Chevy, #18 Toyota, #48 Chevy, and the #88 Chevy. The 14 and the 18 are the same, and the 48 and 88 are the same. All of them have about 300 miles on them. With the EXACT same setup on all cars, the 14 and 18 don't handle nearly as good as the 48 and 88.

Interesting. I own them all, and have to check that out.

Let me know what your finding are :)
I also have most Nascars, put 1 in my 'favorites' so if one Nascar is better than the other thats an advantage I'd like to know about :)

The best NASCAR cars are the DODGE ones - they're so awesome they had to be removed from the game because they would have trounced the poor Impalas, Fusions, and Camrys that tried to oppose it!

I'm pretty sure it's limited to the 2 different types. But there could be other differences, I haven't tried a Ford NASCAR yet. And as for acceleration and top speed, I haven't done much testing in that nature.

All are the same. It's like comparing a football from a football!

Maybe you missed some above posts. Go compare a #14 with a #48, not the same.

Decided to research the discussion. Found this on wikipedia: With the introduction of the Car of Tomorrow the differences between the different models were significantly lessened, but teams can have differences in engines, and setups. Guess not all cars are made to be equal, and this in fact transferred into the game. Not as I originally thought.

The entire article can be found here and it goes further into the car regulations. I had to research and I'm American!

Nice find. 👍

So that statement is correct in relation to myself being that i'm not American, don't live in the U.S.A and have no interest whatsoever in NASCAR in real life? Not to mention i've never watched more than two minutes of a real NASCAR race in my life.

To answer to original question, there is definite differences between a few of the cars but it's still too early in GT5's life for people to be able to tune these to advantages. Give it a few more months and you may start noticing particular cars more commonly than others. I have a couple that I definitely favour over others due to their performance history, but that's my tunes and my style matching which of course is different for everyone.

Are you serious? You realize that there is nothing "stock" about the NASCAR COT, and that "stock car" hasn't been an apt name in years, right? Sure, the name works because we now associate "stock car racing" with NASCAR, but that's besides the point.

I'll just say that my sister's Camry doesn't go 193mph around Daytona.

Ssoo.....

Anyone been doing the actual testing yet?
Is it true that car #48 and #88 are faster/better/stronger then other Nascars?

the best na$car in the game is the gamestop #20 camry. the only way to get it was to preorder from gamestop . it has more hp than the others. my #18 m&m car is 865hp and the gamestop #20 is 892hp.

your m&m nascar doesn't have 892hp because the engine isn't broken in yet and/or you need an oil change

Honestly, if you've ever done a lengthy NASCAR race online, you'd know that any differences between cars would be minimal and negligible. Strategy wins those races.

I have all the NASCAR cars, except for the Gamestop Camry. I've done a bit of testing on a variety of courses, and every car is equal on acceleration and top speed. But there are 3 cars that have a clear advantage over the others once you get into the turns. Yep, you guessed them, the 3 Hendrick cars. I'd say these 3 are equal to each other, and superior to the rest. I'll add that all the "lesser" cars seem to be equal to each other also. So there you have it.

Actually, I recall a pre-race "driver meet" before the 2006(?) Brickyard 400 in which one of the drivers, I forget his name now, admitted that all of the Dodge teams were getting their collective butts kicked because of aerodynamics of the Charger. He mentioned a few teams had to do some pretty (relatively) major revisions through out the season to the nose section to get them competitive.

all the cars are different, if you think not try this. My AJ car runs solo times of 41.550 avg with a best of 41.494. My Carl, keep in mind also a fusion witht he same AJ fusion setup runs 41.8s. If I take the same setup and put it on Tony he runs 41.7s, but Jimmie runs 41.9s, Dale runs 41.6s, Juan runs 41.8s, and Denny runs 41.9s, kyle runs 41.7s. So as you can see all the cars are different. My AJ being the fastest.

Really Herbie? You sure you drive the same way and line every lap with every car. There is minimal to no difference at all.Grab a Ford,Chevy or Camry, there is no difference what one you use.
