is there any cars that can put up with Skylines?

hiya! :D

For so many years now, I always get the answer "Skyline" when I asked about which car you like to race with. Skyline to almost all answers :eek: But over time I start to feel bored of hearing the same answer over and over and over.

I can understand that skylines are great cars and I like them too, but I want to know if there are other cars that can be tuned to be like a monster that ppl claim skylines to be. Are there any cars out there that can be tuned to compete well or put up a good challenge against Skylines? or a car that can BEAT THE SKYLINE DOWN TO THE GROUND :eek: :odd: :drool: :scared: Anybody can give me some names of the cars :eek: :D thnxie :D
 
Just curious... how far are you into the game? Have you run into the LeMans cars, such as the 787B or R390? Also, when it comes to production cars, the Ruf RGT is often considered the fastest car when fully tuned.
 
I love racing all of the EVO's, they may not spank the GT-R but they are a great car when tuned properly. Any of the RUF's, the CTR-2 fully tuned is really fast and handles pretty well. Im not a Skyline person, I dont really see whats so great about them, I dont normally use them for anything.
 
I don't really think the skylines are very nice...

Heavy and only as powerful as the next guy...

All sorts of cars can match the power of the skyline (ruf, vette, etc) and even more cars can beat their handling. (tvr, honda, etc)

If I was looking for a car to dog the skyline, I would start with just about anything that is a reasonable pick.

Cars I think can beat a comprable skyline...
s2000
nsx
supra
evo
vette
camaro
all tvr
all ruf
... (others, but I just cant think of them)

The bottom line.. If your looking for a car that is not a heavy, bumbling pig of a rice rocket, just don't pick the skyline. If you want something fast and agile, pick anything but the skyline.
(just my opinion though)
 
but if they r stock i think a skyline would be fastest off the line cuz of that massive torque that that I6 belts out

TVR Speed 12, if you can control it you can get some very fast times from it, also the RGT untuned and tuned is better than the GT-R, the R390 road car and TS020 GT-One road car are both better tuned and untuned also but you need to win thoes. The Toyota Supra RZ is good match. it can reach over the 1000Bhp mark like the GT-R, just look around, see which car you like driving, if it's no as fast a the GT-R you will probably still beat the AI with ease anyway.

All TVR, that includes the Speed 12, 0-60 in a claimed 2.9 seconds.
Also the Tuscan is faster to 60 and I think the Griffith is as well.
The Vette Z06 is faster to 60.
All 3 Ruf's are faster to 60 as well.
 
Skylines can be made to handle as good as FRs under good tuning though.

Some of the street cars that can put up a really good fight against the GT-R would include the Esprit V8 SE, 3000GT VR-4s, RX-7 (FD), Supra RZ, Viper GTS, RGT and a great many more.

I got my Skyline to easily run Laguna Seca in 1'16.479 and it is NOT tuned specifically for the track. I will never deny the GT-R's power but there's no doubt other cars can match it. I have a few friends who make good opponents using the Supra RZ, Esprit V8 SE, and even an FD.

I never care to play around with race cars because it's just lame to me.

Yes, and no... :D

If you tune a skyline to handle at its peak, then compare it to an average fr, it will be a good match... but tune that fr to its peak, and well, the skyline is just out matched.

Skylines are only cool for 2 reasons...

Looks. (cause they are awesome looking cars)
Real world performance. (4wd and a mean turbo 6 equal great production car performance.)

But compare a skyline to any car with an equivelant amount of tuning and your gonna end up with a skyline in second place.

If any of you guys want to get a little skyline comparison going, Im down. Lets do a 2.5 pwr comparison of any car and any skyline. (No race cars and no wanna-be racers... gt-one road, gt40, gt1 road, etc.)

If you all are down, I am... lets start something in the spot races thread.. :D or maybe just continue the complex string spot race thread with this race on the string?

Anyway, I will be looking forward to the challenge... later.

Take a look at the rules. (although I will be honest, I could give a **** about the tcs thing, so run however you want :D )

So lets do it... we can have some people run skylines and some run whatever they wish.

If you all want to defend the honor of the skyline, good luck. You're gonna need it. ;)

As for me, I will be running an assortment, along with a skyline of equal pwr to show that the skylines, do indeed, suck.

Look forward to the comp. till you all get the gumption to put down some laps... later. :trouble:

BTW, Can anyone tell me what the maxed out power of a mugen S2000 is?

I got one at 362Bhp but it's been used but not too much so it might get a little more.

I already beaten it at 100% complete. It took me a long time becuz I am new to Gran Turismo franchise and GT3 is my first one. I begin to like cars as I pick one, tune it up and drive around. I like the cars such as 787B. But when it comes to Production cars, lots of my friends and relatives tell me to get Skylines or a Skyline.
I have a RUF RGT and luv it :O :lol: :D and also have a skyline. But.... my friends and cousins still call me a silly gurl and say Skyline is waayyyy better than RUF RGT. But then I beat them all hard on Split screen with RUF RGT while they go Skyline.
Then they claim that the game isnt accurate becuz Skylines are suppose to have faster Acceleration than RUF RGT and that the Polyphony just made a mistake is all and overpowered RUF RGT. Skylines are the best in real life for production car is wut they say =/ :(

Yeah right... I'm sure my Skyline can match up with FRs and MRs. I've already proven this on like 2 other boards.

You can say some cars are better than GT-Rs all you want and it's true but you can never say they suck because, well, it kinda contradicts history and truth.

Just doing a couple of laps at each of these tracks I can easily manage these times with a GT-R34 using universal settings:

Apricot Hill - 1'15.682
Laguna Seca - 1'16.479
SSR5 - 1'17.279
Trial Mountain - 1'21.444
Cote d'Azure - 1'29.723
Grand Valley Speedway - 1'44.156

Keep in mind that I can most definitely get faster times on any of these tracks if I do only a few more laps. I guess my point is is just that just because you don't know how to tune heavy AWDs doesn't mean you are allowed to knock the car, even if it is overrated (it is...). I will admit that I am more a fan of FRs than AWDs, but you simply aren't giving credit where it's due, that's all it is. :rolleyes:

Im gonna go look into it with my lacking awd tuning skills and see if I can change my mind about the 4wd monster.

Btw, just saying skylines suck (in refference to the game) is quite a different thing than testifying to their track worthiness... infact, I would say using suck was more a refference to the general bad handling of the 4wd skylines than it was an honest evaluation of what the skyline can do on the track...

Anyway, if you wanna post up the total power/pwr of the skyline you used for those times I might run some laps. (Im not really into running laps when the car just isn't fun.)

Well hot damn... I just noticed that the exact time you have for your gtr run at cote is the exact same time as what I did in the weekly a long while back. 1.29.723... That was a 5??hp S2000 vtype. That was also the week I won first overall even at the div 1 level. :trouble:
 
I'll give that spot race a try as soon as I get a chance, pretty busy until Monday, but I imagine I can slip some races into it.

Things I liked about the GTR:
I pulled hard, on just about everything.
Acceleration!
Speed!?
Uhh.... Did I mention it was fast?

Things I didn't like about the GTR:
Handling

I couldn't deal with the GTR anymore. I didn't know how to tune, and I gave up on it, and I haven't had a chance to tune the one I have. Just sort of gave up on it. I still love the GTRs, but not fully blown ones. I would perfer the GTR's cousin, RB27DETT powered ZZII. :D:tup:

The RGT is nice, the rear-rear drivetrain characterstics sort of screwed me up a bit. I don't think I drove it as well as it could of been.
 
i read through all the posts and i see people forgot one more detail. look at how much a skyline costs for the power it gives and compare it to the RUF. i noticed in GT3 for the amount of power for the price japanese cars over all are a better deal. but i guess if u beat the game and got lots of money to spare then its not something u should really be too concerned over. just my thoughts...
 
one more thing, stock i think the RGT is better over all, but im sure with the right kind of tuning and knowledge of how to pilot it u can make a skyline be just as good or better.

Yeah, It's dandy that your S2000 was able to reach that time. The Skyline struggled at that track the most. Something about the sharper turns and the way they [don't] gel together. Anyways, I was running 1051 - 1072 hp for those times, and if those times aren't quick enough for your FRs than I'll shave seconds off of each one in a few laps.

So what are you saying? Do Skylines suck or not? Make up your mind or stop wasting my time.

I simply thought you sucked at tuning AWD cars considering driving them obviously is difficult for you otherwise there would be no fretting and griping about how bad the GT-R sucks. So you set yourself up. :lol:

That's like how I think the RGT sucks because I can't seem to get a good tune goin for it. Does the car really suck? Obviously not because many consider it to be their favorite street car. Skylines do not suck, it's in your mind and that's all there is to it.

Then there is your additude. Normal I wouldn't really care about someone with 4 or 5 post running their mouth, but today Im just not in the mood.

You see, I do not suck at driving the skylines, I am not bad at tuning the skylines, I am just willing to admit, and honest about the fact that regardless of how well you tune a skyline, or how well you race it, it is still a mediocre car for gt3.

Now if you wanna keep this up, feel free, but do it by pm, and do it with your final times... Im not gonna run laps so you can say "I'll shave seconds off" and Im not gonna put up with your bold and wreckless statments about my abilities. Btw, those times are not fast enough for my f/r & m/r cars, so get crackin on that if your gonna do it. :trouble:

The bottom line in this situation is that... You insulted my abilities and disagreed with my statments. Either you can continue making this out to be about me (which is not a good thing) or you can acknowledge some of the more simple facts about gt3... All awd Cars do not tune as well as f/r or m/r. It's just part of the game. GT3's physics engine is good, but not so good that it can replicate all of the real world elements that make the 4wd skyline a fast racer in real life.

Deal with this however you want, but do not in any way continue to insult me. Im not gonna stand for it, and eventually, Im gonna lose my temper like anyone.

What I find sad about this is the fact that my initial statments about the skyline were off-the-cuff. Most racers, including myself, know that the skyline is an good vehicle. However, when I get some newb punk riding me over one-word-bull-****, I end up having to take an all or nothing stance in a situation that is not all or nothing.
 
The Skyline does not suck. Nor is it the best car in the game (or the world).

btw, I just meant to say that there are other cars much better than the skyline. (imo)
No offense was meant in my, somewhat, disrespectful opinion on the skylines ability to perform/handle.
 
Skylines are alright. I don't actually recall having driven a non-JGTC Skyline in GT3 at all (apart from the arcade garage one). But with all other things being equal, an MR car will beat any other drivetrain.

I might give GK's idea a twirl - 2.500 PWR and pickatrack?
