I quite like this cover, it's really simple, but it sort of captures the whole 'feel' of what Gran Turismo 4 is all about. At least it's better than the covers of GT1 and 2 (but then those cases were significantly smaller ...)

The GT is an american car so that's probably the NTSC cover, the really nice one is probably PAL.

Someone mentioned that there may be different covers for different countries. And believe it or not, that's true. Sometimes, I see the American cover featuring an black or dark gray car with the GT3 logo on the car. Other times, I see this red background with the GT3 logo. Of course, I normally think those red boxes are import copies of GT Concept for some reason.

But if you ask me, the Ford GT isn't bad to put onto GT4's cover. You dig me, or do you have your ideas for what should be on the cover?

Now to onto Lady McLaren... it's easy to tell, McLaren. Have you the GT2 cover? I know that's the McLaren F1 interior for two reasons. (1) If ever you come across the GT2 cover, look closely at the tachometer. That distinctive logo is there. (2) I remember seeing this on a page from "Road and Track" magazine that features something similar to this as a picture on the calendar. So it's kind of a no-brainer that the inside of the McLaren F1 is on the cover. And it looks like I proved a famous quote wrong:

I have a question for all of you. Would you rather PD spend more time on the actual game with putting more cars and tracks and perfecting the graphics......or have them waste some resources on the cover?

PD dosn't need to spend too much cash on the cover, GT4 has been anticipated for such a long time now that no matter what the box looks like, the sales will go through the roof.

Ah, but what about the casual gamer who has been living under a rock for the past, what, six years, and doesn't know about GT (get a life whoever you are ...)?

Or someone who is tossing up between buying a PS2 and GT4 or an X-Box and Forza? Descisions, descisions (but we all know the answer).

My point is that often the packaging is designed to be eye-catching to draw the attention of someone who might not know the product otherwise existed. A small minority in this case, but a potential market all the same. And first impressions last: Would you buy GT4 if the front cover was badly photocopied if you wouldn't normally buy the game?

The covers are different for all three "big" games for every territory so far.

As for slogan differencies, "The Real Driving Simulator" is a slogan of Gran Turismo game series in total. "Drive of your Life" is probably a (still unoffficial) slogan for Gran Turismo 4 alone.

It is a logical issue.

And you say I am weird... but if we wanted to, we would have a big blank space and come up with Photo Mode pictures to make our own GT4 cover. But anyhow, whatever the cover will look like, just be free to rip open that case and put the CD into your PS2.

Honestly all the cover has to do is keep me entertained from the stor e to my house (or when i buy it online, in the time it takes to open the box, rip of the plastic, and put the game in) I don't even need to see GT4 on the side, it won't be leaving my PS2 for a logn time, so the box will probably be lost, and i'll have tp steal one of my old dvd cases

I guess this is either a rumor or something, or KY giving his game some cred, but I read that he drove his Ford GT, and then drove the Ford GT in the game to compare. He said he was very surprised to see that they both nearly drove the same.

John, your posts are always so ... enlightening. Yes, enlightening. Anyway, I choose (D) none of the above. Don't get me wrong, I like what they've done with the artwork, but if it were up to me, I'd just place GT4: The Real Driving Simulator on a white background with a tantalisingly just-visible high-res screenshot of part of a race track (I'm thinking the final right-hand sweeper on Grand Valley here) superimposed 'under' the white. I think that would be very stylish and very tasteful. Yes, I know it's not a car, but the effect would be stunning.

If his favorite car is the GT40 then I don't see why he can't show how much he likes it by making it on the GT4 cover.

So the highly anticipated GT4's cover will be the Ford GT (most likely on the NTSC/US version because the GT is an American car), but that won't be the "universal" cover, I bet based on the past GT titles above, it will be altered based on their home markets.
