I do not believe this gives the opposition an advantage on a well known track. If you on the other hand, take the track on for the first time, you will need it. From a realistic point of view, I try not to use it.
Have to admit, that for example on the nordschleife, I tend to use it on occasion. Only on the tracks that I am not familiar with or know by heart.
Just love the realism that is generated by a cockpit view, no donkeycrap on the screen (sometimes laptimes, but prefer not to have them on there) and a dark room with the audio turned up.
