I've just been accused of being a cheat by someone i thought was a friend, for using TC for the new Rally TT at Matterhorn. So I'm interested to see what people think.

I use traction control in some events and not in others. It seems to stop any sideways movement and keep my car going forward, although I am a DS3 pad user. I couldn't imagine it helping any in the matterhorn tt though.

Using anything allowed in the event in question isn't cheating. If you found some way to get around these regulations on the other hand, you're a cheater and should be hung by your thumbs.

:p

I use it myself every now and again to take the edge off the acceleration coming out of the corners, but in all honesty, it's just me being lazy. I can do the throttle properly if I put the effort in but I get a bit more consistent with a bit of traction control.

I turn it back off when I've reached my best lap time though. I need that extra bit of oomph out of the corners to scrape a couple more tenths off.

Any other car under 650pp, I leave it off. No real need for it if you find a decent tune.

Don't worry about it and use what you like. It's your game.

It isn't cheating. I use it on the race cars that run it in real life, same goes for ABS. On a wheel it'll probably make you slower, however on a DS3 it can make it easier putting the throttle down at low speeds in certain cars. If GT6 would allow us to change the throttle calibration then it wouldn't be as useful, if I could have a completely linear throttle on the analogue sticks I'd find it a lot easier.

It's not a particularly realistic implementation for the race cars though, so up to you if you want to run with what they run in real life or not.

Firstly you need to enjoy the game. And if Traction control lets you enjoy it then - job done.

But - you know that your stunning lap time isn't down to just you, it is an assisted lap, the risk of over driving is gone. You're admitting that the car is too much for you to handle it. Your driving talent is being supported by artificial crutches. You have settled for a "good job".

Cast aside these crutches that stifle improving your driving skills. Walk free.

Traction control is just cheating yourself out of some fun. It is one of the blue pills of GT6.
Take the Red Pill and unleash your inner Maldonado!

- All jokes but just have fun

It's not cheating to an extent. Some people will use traction control even though they do just fine without it.

I haven't used TC since I bought a wheel near the start of GT5. But I can't imagine playing the game without using TC if I was using a hand controller.

With a wheel, control of the car is increased so TC isn't necessary and I would feel like I had wasted my money if I didn't use the wheel with all the aids off - besides it's a lot of fun and adds to the experience. I didn't vote however because it's not cheating - it's a matter of personal choice and what you enjoy.

I presume that response came after you beat their time? :)

I suppose that friend would also consider the use of ABS cheating as well. If that's the case there's a lot of cheats about. Or maybe driving in anything but the interior view. And heaven forbid using automatic gears!

Cheating - no. It's a game, the various aids and options are there for you to use. Get your enjoyment out of it how you want.

Indeed it was. Beat him on the Rally TT at matter horn but I've since improved my time with out TC, which rubs it in even more i guess

thank you. exactly what i siad to him

People like that make me laugh, and laugh out loud. If using available options is cheating then everyone using tuning of any sort is cheating too. Funny how you don't hear that many people complaining about that option, eh?

Cheers

Sometimes it can make you faster, and it all depends on your driving style as well. I have a few friends on my list that use a wheel, I use a wheel I am faster with TC than the wheel users that are on my friends list without TC.
It generally makes you faster if you're not very good with the car, track or both (or with the game in general). As you get better, using TC helps you less and less, until eventually it makes you slower.

By definition, nothing that is allowed can be considered cheating.

Depends on your friend and whether there's an unspoken agreement between you. I've competed with friends on leaderboards in sim racing for many years but the subject of aids has never come up. I just assume everyone will use whatever is their personal preference regardless of what I pick. Unless you had an unspoken agreement to the contrary, it just sounds like sour grapes on his part.

Using TCS is far from cheating. I use it for very powerful cars sometimes like FGT or so, but it's not cheating, it simply prevents the wheels from spinning when exiting a turn. Like everyone else says, if it's a preference that helps you enjoy the game, do it! I've read that race cars come installed with TCS in real life. My thing is, if they have it in real life, I can use it.

No agreement, nothing. I've not even known him that long to be honest. I do try and beat friends times(as you do)but it's not from being challenged or anything. I use my faster friends as trying to improve my own time. None of my other friends have moaned, Hes the first to message me accusing me of cheating and i agree think it was sour grapes.

Nah, just another butthurt guy.

My take on this is a sum of most opinions here, specially when lobby/race regulations allow it and the fact that TCS usually makes you slower. Personally, i use assists in different ways. No SRF, TCS/ABS1 by default when allowed. Turn TCS off for AWD and LMPs.

PS and Off-topic: @Johnnypenso , @SVPSkins , @Doodle , i always notice and appreciate your comments, i'll FR you if you dont mind, see what you guys got one of these days. Cheers.

I bet 1000$ that I would beat you eventhough you have TC on and I don't.

In fact TC makes you slower so I don't see how it can be cheating. Must be a butthurt guy.

The guy who is at the top of my friends list luckily for me slows himself down with TC, ABS and AT.
I wouldnt see his ghost after turn 1 otherwise.

It's not cheating, it is apart of the game and has been intended to be in the game as an option to be used.

No, TC is certainly not cheating. TC is just very noobish though. It dramatically slows you down. Also it shows that you apparently aren't a good enough driver to be able to control your car. If you were a proper driver, you would just leave it off to better your laptimes and to have control over your vehicle.

It's not cheating but if you use it you're a noob, aren't good enough to control your car and you're not a proper driver?
