Is your tower have 2 of it's panels opened, 1 panel, or fully closed?

Mine has one panel open. The side where you can see everything.

Boring old closed up one. I wanna see my pc! And neon blue lighting!! I want it now!!!

*edit* Actually, i'm not sure if i want to see the horrors of a tiny pc!

I keep it open to cool the PC but also because I am constantly tinkering with it and adding stuff......when its cooler (like in winter) I close it! :) ......only thing thats bad about keeping it open is the dust.....

Yeah I just unscrewed one side and took off the panel to give it some extra coolling. With aircirculation in the room it cooled it down by 5 degrees Farenheit.

Yes it's true no matter what dust builds up. It's understandable though. The fans sucking in all that dust over time and then it accumalating.

Um, if mine was open, the whole computer would fall off. ;) (For those who don't know, I have a G5 iMac, which has its entire back connected to the stand, like an LCD screen.)

Burnout
Closed, but with a window. I have filters on my intake fans, so I don't really have to worry about dust.

That's what i want! a window!!
I don't like the thought of it open, i'd probably stick my foot in it by accident and kill the thing. Which isn't a bad idea

Its fully closed but I'm probably going to get a clear acrylic panel and shove a fan in it over top the processor.

That's it! I knew that font in your avatar looked like something, i just couldn't put my finger on it. It looks like that font apple uses for stuff - it's on the back of my ipod mini too!

*edit* actually, overall, it looks very apple!

Mine has been open with both panels off for about a year now. Mainly because the case is so ****ty. I also have the PSU sitting on top of the case, because if it's mounted inside the case the PSU fan will blow warm air directly onto the Fan/heatsink.

I'm going to buy a new case for my pc soon.

Yeah, I have to clean its insides regularly.....even when its closed dust gets sucked in.......thank goodness for rubbing alcohol! just wipe everything inside the case with it and it evaporates away leaving a clean system (for atleast another month!)........

I really want to get one of those cool cases with a perspex window.....and neons   .....sadly my car got that treatment instead! :sly: .....but the stock case it ok......I have an Evesham Axsis (probably not known anywhere but the UK)........its a great computer and works really good.

Ive added a temperature control bay to slow the fans when it doesn't need it.....makes it quiet and cool......I love the high temp alarm which actives the fans fullspeed to prevent meltdown!!!! got a new copper heatsink and fan (nexus axp 3200) and that makes a great difference :)

But I still wana keep the case open.......nothing like the natural room air to cool it down........the ultimate would be to have duct the air from outside the house strait into the case and then out again...........would work great with the crisp (flippin freezing  ) english air!

Sage.......if you want to see the insides of your mac.......check this link out....mac's look great even from the inside! (the link to apple disections is also in my sig :) )

Yup – Myriad Apple Semibold. :) Gorgeous font.

Well, that's the point. ;)

Oh, trust me, I've already opened it up. :D (I added a gig of third-party RAM.) It looks even better in real life! (BTW, here's a better pic of the inside.)

Supposedly, the PowerMac G5 comes with a piece of clear plastic, so that you can use it to replace the side panel, and always see the innards, like this.

It goes in phases. Yesterday I took the side panel off because I was having overheating issues (CPU Temp: 75 deg C; Sys Temp: 45 deg C). Today my usage is a bit calmer, so the system is cooler (47; 31), so the side can go back on. Especially since the wife will be using it tomorrow, and she's far too likely to put her foot through one of the cards.

I came up with some new settings for the fans, so I'm monitoring those at the moment.

I love the G5 aluminium panel that apple have on the inside of their systems....all macs should come with see though panel options.....looks amazing.......unlike the inside of a PC which looks like a rain forest......

p.s. is 45-49 degress ok for a 1.4 ghz and 20-24 degress for case temp ok?.....cos I recon thats quite cool for summerish temps

I'll probably will be a necesity for my side panel to be left open for some cool air when my graphics card comes in.

Err, I thought you meant literally open. I've got a big plexiglass side with a neon blueish purple fan spinning in the side. Lights are cool.

Mines closed, but I wouldn't want it opened with all the crap I have on my desk, it'd get into the machine and blow up!

When I mean open I mean where you can put your hand into the computer without moving anything. (i.e window, etc.)

Closed but runs MUCH cooler opened. I would keep it open if I could but noise, and the large amounts of dust & cat hair force me to keep her closed.

I don't quite get your question, but I will say this. My case can be taken apart. You can screw each side from the rest. One side has a window in it so you can see in.

Hmm, in that case then, 1 panel open. Simply because it isn't screwed on, it's pretty much laying against the computer.

OK your computer case usually has 2 panels attached to it. Do you have both of them unscrewed and taken off? one? or none of them taken off?

My tower is closed... I put a lot of work into it over christmas break when I sleeved my power supply and changed the molex connectors. That was a chore... I need to get the film developed that I took pictures of it with but its not been used all the way.
