my issue is with the gear shifting, Flat shifting has been removed, because "aparantly that is not what you do in real life, when if fact yes you do!, this was confirmed when the guy got to go to the GT's office to meet the maker, and to interview him superFLA i think it was. it was taken off because it was in fact FASTER for ppl who had G25 steering wheels, because this is the only setup that benefits,
I agree its a imbalance and is unfair to other racers, but I think simulation mode should require you to have a clutch and a racing wheel, otherwise you are not simulating, the people who don't have a clutch type wheel, should only be allowed to select professional mode, this would simulate the clutch (like it already does when you don't hit triangle to engaged the clutch ) and also activate the same physics and handling of simulation, Just without the gear shifting physics.
I understand why it was removed, but they have also screwed with the debounce of the gear shift particularly with 2nd gear, going from 1st to 2nd, and 3rd down to 2nd, has to be done alot slower then any other gear shift to the point where its now slower if you use the G25 with a manual clutch. this is very VERY inconstant considering how you made a balance issue change in favour to people WITHOUT A G25, and makes the shifting unpredictable, a lot of times you just get Neutral when you change a tiny bit to fast. and again this is not a simulation, because you can shift very fast in real life, again this has been done to balance out game play for non clutch users, because the clutch simulation is quite slow when you are not using the clutch. it needs to be allowed to shift as fast as you possibly can, without the flat shifting (if its not reinstated)
I think flat shifting should be re enabled, but only in simulation mode. I mean if you want a simulation mode then you should be able to simulate what you CAN do on the road, and one is Flat shifting, the other is changing gear as fast as you can which is well within the rules and realm of real life, I mean if you shift too fast in real life, your gearbox doesnt select neutral, and you dont have to depress the clutch, take it out of gear then reselect, I mean its obsurd and nowhere near a simulation, sure you can crunch the box but only if your not timing the clutch. they say its not ideal way, but in fact all great racers do it. Keiichi Tsuchiya (aka Drift king, Dori Dori),
Motohuru Kurasawa (GAN SAN)
the professor Akihiko Nakaya,
they all do it, I also use Japanese drivers because if the GT staff really do look at this then they will be able to know who im talking about. also Keiichi visits polyphony's studio a lot, he is a consultant, and yet they haven't asked him about this???? ask him he will tell you its very much ideal and faster to flat shift or power shift, and that the 1st to 2nd gear change is very very wrong and needs fixing, it makes the game frustrating, and ruins RUINS laps and racing for people who want a simulation of decent racing.!
1. offer simulation mode for customers with full simulation gear, I.E people with H pattern gearboxes, and a manual clutch, ability to shift ANY WAY that is possible in real life, that means re reinstatement of flat shifting, and if at the very minimum gear shifting, should be as fast as humanly possible as it is in real life
2.restrict the simulation mode to the above group only, and allow people with wheels and 2 pedal sequential setups to the same physics as the simulation mode, but call it professional mode, and simulate the clutch (as you already do) but speed up the simulation, not slow down the above people, bring the simulation of the gear shift to the speed of what is possible in real life
