Hello, I have just bought pal, blu-ray version, installed it tryed to update! nothing! prepairing to update and just freezes there, I can cancel it, quit the game but thats it, I did it almost ten times but always same thing, progress bar does not move a pixel :) I own jp version of prologue and it does exactly the same thing! what should I do? :)

Same problem here
Although my pixel bar moves, it just stops after a while saying download failed.

All my ports are open as far as i know, every other update for everyother game works fine (never had any hassle)

Is there another way to get the update? (i presume not)

(I am using Eircom broadband plus with a netopia router the PS3 is connected through wifi maybe i should plug in a cable just to see if that works???)

Mine kept failing lastnight. Did it this morning and it downloaded fine. Try it within periods that are not very busy.

Taken from the Japanese support forum:

In the middle of updating it becomes error.

< GT5 prologue >' The グランツーリスモ 5 prologue ' in the middle of updating there are times when error happens.

Because, the data which is downloaded to there is retained even with when error occurred midway, please try update for the second time. When several degrees over again, update completes normally.

Update is reopened, there is a method below.

(1) My Page (the my page) with News (news) it selects.

(2) ending the game with the PS button, it starts the game for the second time.

Furthermore, PS3 it is verified concerning this phenomenon, that it is easy to happen when the radio it is connected.

I have been trying to update jp version months......
Something must be blocking your update then, since it worked for a lot of people. The only thing I can suggest is you try to connect your PS3 directly to your modem, without using your router.

sigh

Finally got the game from a store. Update fails for me repeatedly, no resume of download; best I have managed is barely half-way along the progress bar in one sitting. At this rate I don't think I'll be playing this game for days, unless I get really lucky.

Im wondering if Sony were in any way related to the opening of terminal 5 at Heathrow. Both operations were equally shambolic.

EDIT: after 8 or so attempts, i accepted the error, let the game load, and went to "news", this prompted the update notice again, which then "seemed" to install almost instantly. The game is definitely updated, so I suggest if you are having problems you might try this as an alternative to constantly restarting the game.

well I do have zero brain function atm..

I don't even Know how it will update it self, I've got the JPN version ( downloaded) No where i go or what i do, i don't even get a slight i´dea if anything is updating..

Could some one please bare with me, and tell me exactly how it looks when i'm going into the gt5p, how does it look, for you guys that succeeded the update, does it just start updating by it self, or do i need to go in to a specific place..

Sorry for sounding like a Noob, but I'm quite frustrated, with my beloved game..

I'm from Denmark by the Way ;)

I'm getting it this evening and i'm getting slightly worried about this :nervous:. How long did it take you to download it and what speed is your broadband if you dont mined me asking, thanks in advance 👍.

Its disproportionately slow. My connection is about 14Mbit downstream. It's not the speed thats a problem though, its the repeated failures.

After about 6-7 times i finally managed to get the update.
The last time i tried connecting it straight to my router without wifi and it worked flawless...

Maybe a wifi problem?

My update was at about 90% and then it failed, I was mad! Then retried it and it did resume, or at least the first part of the download went amazingly fast, it slowed down again at about 90% but it kept progressing until finished.

mine keeps failing too. i think i have opened all ports. i have used a wired connection, tried loads of times.. gets part way then fails.. :(

anyone know how the update works? could someone who has successfully downloaded it.. copy it to a pc then share it?

I have the same exact problem with my Blu-ray version of GT5P.

I tried several ways of updating (intro, news, online, etc) but with the same results. The thing freezes at the "preparing for download" phase.

Hmmm Updating ..

will it start updating by it self when i'm going in to the game.

I must be frustrated, because for me it's quite confusing.. there is nothing happening, all look the same, latest news, is from the 27-3-08 telling something about the 28-3-08 ( i can't understand the langues ;)" and it's the 28-3-08 now, i even changed the clock to simulate Hong kong time.. Hmmm yeps frustrating ..

please tell me, how i will be able to update my Japanese downloaded version.. " Starting the game, and then what ? ;)

Odd
You should get a pop up window when you boot the game telling you there is an update available. Click the OK button ( the right hand one). Then all you have to do is hope you get it first time. If you get an error message with a yellow triangle. Click the OK button again go to the news section and quit the game with the PS button and restart. It should restart the download again from where it left off.

It took my 4 tries to update the JPN version. But only Twice to update the UK version.

Just to check. Is everyone running port forwarding with a static IP for their PS3?

I don't have the game yet, but I know that Sony/PD have said you need to do that for Prologue.

I think it depends on your router as to the how. What router do you have? I only have router info for the Lynksys WRT54G, as that is what I have.

I do have Lynksys, wireless, I don't know the exact name, I'm at school right now.. Once I get home I'll let you know.

Thanks JASE72..
I'll gues that i just have to be patient, So it's nothing to do with me living in DK..

My ps3 should be working properly regarding to the Network settings..

I did notits that we are able to choose the upnp mode in GT5p "Options" between mode1 and mode2, does this have anything to do with me Not being " Updated" ?

I finally got the update.

for those who are having trouble here are some tips

1. download when japan is asleep

2. download when most people in your area are unlikely to be online.

3. dont use your connection on any other computer

4. use a wired connection if possible

hope that helps somebody, I was able to download the update in about an hours time using these rules.

also the longer you wait, the more people have already downloaded it and that should increase chances of successful update
