I am in the ESWC event right now, and the finals just ended.
Let me tell you, I never knew that cars can handle like this. The champ in a franch dude, and he can drive I tell you!

They used the driving force pro wheel, and with the C60 and hard tyres, they didn't pit even once on La Sarthe I.

Take a look at these times:

El Capitan: 1:18:XXX (R8 with medium tyres)
La Sarthe I: 3:12:XXX (R8 with medium tyres)

These guys are speed demons... I need to get me a DFP... :indiff:
 
In week 8 of the WRS, the challenge was the S-15 license test (Bentley Speed 8 around Le Mans I). We had to start from the start of the license test, with a slower speed than you would on a flying lap. Here's the results of people who got a time faster than a 3'12.*

So this in not a fast time for the C60? And what about El capitan?
 
3'05.914 : This guy did this time for 2005's Le Mans GT4 Challenge. The deal was 16 best european racers competed for a 350Z GT4 Edition. He was in, but got out in the semi-finals.



So, let's say that 3'05 on this license is almost perfect. :)
 
thats strange, if you took the people out of the background that 350z would look like a video game screenshot... its kinda creepy.

That's an incomplete list ... where's me and flat_out? We took 1st and 2nd in D3 that week and beat ZeratulSG.
 
I took part in the ESWC event and was impressed with the calibre of racers that made it to the second day of competition. I've raced at quite a few LAN/i.LINK meetings over the years and this one ranked quite well.

The fastest time I saw at La Sarthe I was one of the Frenchies in a Pescarolo C60 '04, 3:08.xxx, which was slipstream assisted. Normal race pace when running alone was anywhere in the 3:12~3:18 with the faster guys

The times I saw for the following tracks were:

La Sarthe I times
Pescarolo C60 '04, MEDIUM tyres, 3:12's and up
Pescarolo C60 '04, HARD tyres, 3:16's and up

El Capitan times
Minolta Toyota, MEDIUM tyres, 1:18's and up
Audi R8, MEDIUM tyres, high 1:19's, low 1:20's and up

Mt Fuji times
Audi R8, MEDIUM tyres, 1:20's and up
Audi R8, HARD tyres, 1:22's and up

Suzuka times
Audi R8, MEDIUM tyres, 1:38's and up
Audi R8, HARD tyres, 1:41's and up

As you can see, the Audi was a favoured car. While it does not have the outright pace at most tracks it was selected most often due to it's fine tyrewear.

LAN times and Arcade times are not really comparible (arcade times are generally faster, probably due to the lower CPU overhead that is required).

For the record, I finished up 9th in the competition, just missing out on scraping in to the semi's.

Div 1 drivers from the WRS on this site are fast as hell.
They can give anyone a run for their money.

I agree, there are frighteningly fast drivers in the WRS, but you've gotta give these ESWC guys credit for throwing down laps in one shot in that environment:


They don't have a week with their own setup to pull out their best lap, they gotta do it when they're told. Yikes.
 
I don't really think there is a such thing as a "world champ" in gt.

Just too many players and no real "official world league" for the racing.

No way.

However, for the sake of being honest... The people you saw at this race were probably fast as hell.
Most of the time, the only people who will come to major tournaments are decent players. 👍

Whatever the case,
There are great players all around the world.
These guys are often better than "great."

I'm just saying that "world champion" is a broad statement. :indiff:

Kinda like "alexander" saying he had conquered the "world"... came out to be the "known world" a few hundred years later. ;)

Props to the best racers regardless of nationality or home-board. :bowdown:

Nope, for that race we were driving that if you passed the license test your lap was legal. I did a 3'14 something which I thought was pretty quick, but the D1 guys (and almost everyone else, it has to be said) beat me :(

Hiya colnago: They were indeed run through the "Actual License Test" which IMHO allows WAY too much "4 wheels off." :irked: BUT, in defense of WRS "Honcho" CFM it was decided to let the "Game" set the rules. This is because a very popular Arcade database allows all "Game Legal" times & CFM didn't want WRS participants NOT to be able to submit their times to that Database as well. Hope that all made sense :confused: ...O.G. :D

Yeah I ran the lic. test a few times last night, got 3:19-3:20, using the this board's "clean lap rule" (i.e. no hitting walls, 2 wheels "always" on track/kerbs) and thought, there's no way a 3:05 is possible.

I started "cutting", and ran ~3:11-3:12, and thought "Oh, that's how it's done", but then I had to finish watching some guys ride there bikes in some far away land where they bias all competition towards their countrymen/women.

Yup. Same country that left out arguably one of the sport's greatest "sprinters" (all-time leading stage winner in the Giro d'Italia), in favor of teams of lesser accomplishments from said country.

Well, I just ran a 3:08.8xx on this Lic. Test...looks like I need a little more practice and I can start looking into getting in the WRS.
