Okay then, I have no idea whats wrong with your computer. Sorry if I didn't help much. :guilty: Then the only way of fixing the problem would be either upgrade your softwares and/or pc. Looks like you have a problem with using Floola and Media Monkey, maybe you can check out the lists on Wikipedia and see which works.

I'm just gonna take a final guess and ask you, your PC freeze when you run iTunes, am I right? It maybe that your computer had too many applications running and that iTunes uses a lot of memory for your pc. Just try to close all the applications running on your pc and just open your iTunes only. I think this has happened to me once, but I don't really know how I fix it...... :dunce:
I've closed them all once before, mainly when I was doing Apple's recommended fix with MS Config that required me to do so.

Apple's support seems to be better this time around, though. They've told me they'll e-mail a couple possible solutions to the problem.
I've read that the latest iTunes version was very unstable, but I do not know if that issue has been fixed yet.

What version are you using? If you are running the newest version, have you tried an older version already? What about an uninstall of everything of iTunes, backup all your music in your external HD, then remove all your music from your laptop. Get an older iTunes version, and copy your music back into your laptop, having a fresh iTunes install with a fresh library to copy. Tried that?

Other than this, I have got no idea what could be done...
I normally use 7.5 as I do not know how 7.6 treats jailbreak, and was told not to upgrade iTunes after I jailbroke 1.1.2.

I will try that 2nd solution, though. 👍

Ok ive got a solution for you and you dont need I-tunes to run this programme, ive actually put links to is before on here, its a prog called EPHpod and this will allow you to put music onto the ipod and remove it.

EPHpod

Am I the only one who uses the foobar iPod plugin to connect my iPod? It's worked flawlessly and I've been using it for a couple of months.

Well, looks like I finally have a solution.

To get my iTunes to open, it appears I'll have to double click specifically on The Hulk movie and then right click to open it in Windows Media. After a few seconds, iTunes then opens. Any other movie causes the same lock up.

Awful & strange solution, but it works. The only problem is the iTunes store says I can not be connected.

And the problem has returned without any cause.

Saturday night, iTunes works fine. I close it turn off compuet, go to bed. Wake up next day, turn comp. on, and clicked on iTunes. The lockup problem is back, and what pisses me off even more is that nothing caused it. In the 12 hours I was away, iTunes some how decided to go on its period, and refuse to open.

I went more drastic with ways to solve it. I removed everything iTunes & Quicktime. I did a fresh install of iTunes 7.7. That didn't work, so I swiped it all again. Installed Quicktime first, then 7.7. Nothing. And I did try Winamp, Anapod, Floola, and more. Most of them did not work because they require me to make the ipod work as a hard disk, and to do so, I ironically need to open iTunes. If I could open iTunes, I wouldn't need any 3rd party programs, so what's the damn point?!

Ugh...either way, most forums are useless, and I'm just going to do restore or something else because this is not worth the effort.

Ok ok... lets simplify stuff.

1. What content of itunes do you want to save? If it's mostly music that's on the ipod already there's a way to restore it to iTunes.

2. Get rid of all the other audio/video programs dealing with connecting to the ipod.

I'd like to save my music & videos, however, I can risk losing them as the songs & videos are still on my external HD.

I've removed almost all of them. I still have the bugged 7.7, and a program called X-Play 3 that claims to let users use WMP 11 to sync to the ipod.

:odd: eehh... I dunno then, the WMP crap could be making it a serious problem. Is there an option in WMP to not see the ipod?

I've had problems with iTunes too. I've got really choppy playback in it, both Videos and Music. Any other media player works flawlessly. :indiff:

Never had that. Somehow, most of the problems I read consist of the program freezing when an iPod is connected or the music doesn't sound right. Frankly, I'd kill for that since that's fixable.

EDIT* I wonder....If I create a new profile on my computer, if that'll be able to access iTunes.

I still can't get my desktop to recognize my touch... My labtop does still though so I'm in the clear. For now...

Try songbird with the iPod addon. I was able to add music and videos onto my 80GB classic. To my knowledge Songbird works with the iTouch.

Nowadays I find programs like iTunes to be full of crap to keep you from jailbreaking a iPod.

Does Songbird require you to setup your iPod so it works as a hard disk? If so, I can't use it.

All I have to do is hook up the iPod. You can even restore original factory settings with songbird(aka original firmware).

@V1P3R: The newer firmware does not allow jailbreaking.

iTunes and PCs don't mix well... I have a fast enough system to run any other media software flawlessly while doing a billion other things, but not iTunes. It's very resource intensive for some reason, even handling simple tasks. And this is on a very clean install of Windows XP...

Unlikely. Have you tried installing an older version of iTunes? http://www.oldapps.com has most versions from 4.1 onward of iTunes, along with a lot of other software. It's a rather handy resource.

LOL WUT? None of the firmware "allows" jailbreaking... that's why it is a jailbreak...

How much do you track the community? The dev team just put out the tools to Jailbreak 2.0, though its primarily through command consoles and such. I am sure pwnage and other software will develop the happy friendly GUI Jailbreak in under a month. I am running the latest versions of iTunes on this computer and have had no issues managing my music on my touch with it. I do manually manage all my media though for my iPod, rather than that absurd auto-sync stuff.

Further, I just googled info on Songbird and it does not appear to work with the iPod touch.

*Bangs head*

I thought it supported the itouch. My bad I did not research about my comment. I have found this winamp plugin that has limited support here for the itouch.

Ok, I have a new problem. iTunes will start up fine, but now the iPod won't be recognized. Whenever it's connected, I get a message saying, "This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install iTunes again."

As you can guess, this hasn't worked, and I can not make the iPod a hard disk if it can not be recognized.

Jeez....:banghead:
