Agreed, and you can even buy the track separately for the minuscule price of three pounds and nineteen pence :p

Or €1 billion :dopey:

No bump drafting = Hour of constant overtaking

Bump drafting is real tricky in these car anyway with their protruding nose, makes rough contact and wrecking very likely. Although I may be persuaded to allow it for that race, all this stuff can be tested later next week 👍

All I can say is that transmission and speed would be unrestricted, weight may stay at 690kg, I'm still debating it.

Are there pits on the track? Lol

I'm guessing there will be, even if there isn't and tyre wear had to be off it wouldn't matter. Cos' if everyone was running flat out they'd pit at around the same time anyway

Do you guys need a series photographer, I would be willing to so that I can improve my GT5 Picture Taking Skills?

Too true.

I've got multiple ideas for other tracks, apart from SSRX they'll all be kept for next season. I think the focus this time around has been on road racing but that may change to more in the way of ovals and street circuits next time around.

EDIT: On another note, if there are no more entries before the season begins I'll put Rich and Matty in a team together. It would help if they could both find the same coloured FGT but it's not the end of the world, better to have 6 teams actively competing for the constructors than 5 with two independent drivers 👍

Anyway, got a question for you Joe since you are IndyCar's official tester and statistic machine ;)

What do you reckon the theoretical top speed of an unlimited FGT would be in the draft on a 12km straight? Definitely 260-70+ I think, if not more.

No idea currently, I've not driven a full power FGT in a while. I'll mess around soon and work out some stuff from what I find. Also, it won't just be the 12km straight, since you'll be on full throttle the entire lap. So I imagine that you'd be at top speed/a couple of mph off of top speed for most of the straight, and no more than 15 or so mph slower in the turns.

Is that with the draft on strong or weak?

EDIT: I can hit 243mph solo on the current tracks. This will probably be 245-250mph on SSRX. Add in the strong draft with bump-drafting and/or a chain of cars to draft off of, and you could probably get close to 300mph.

Thanks Joe, draft on weak most probably. You're right, we're bound to lose some speed in the turns even if it's not much.

People are saying it's a 24 hour cycle track, I hope it has some floodlights so we can have a night race :D

I think that due to the fact that they are a standard car, that it will be a more fun challenge trying to make good looking pictures (Should you guys let me)

We're not holding you back. ;)

I've got another entry, one of Anarchy's friends called SmokeRcn20. I told him to get himself on GTP and I'll add him to the driver's list, and since he has the same FGT as Anarchy he would join him at HVM Racing.

This still leaves Matty, Rich and Jakob high and dry when it comes to team-mates though. I'll work something out before Friday with you 👍

And on another note, still not got the DLC in the UK :grumpy:

Nobody has the DLC yet. The US Playstation Store updates first at about 10pm GMT tonight. Ours is normally somewhere between 5 and 8pm the following day.

EDIT: Not completely flat, it has an elevation difference of 213 ft.

Would it be easier to use the start/finish line for the start/restarts at Indy rather than the pit wall?

EDIT: Here is the SSRX track map though.

It's apparently completely flat, 30km, has time change and a narrow square tunnel at the start/finish line. All according to the GT5 website.

We aren't meant to get it till the 17th.. I read that earlier in the news section and thought you'd be disappointed alright :dopey:

30 km is a bit big though?

Track map just looks like a paper clip :nervous:

Well we knew it would be about that length really matty, I'm up for testing tomorrow night. Ah right Joe, tomorrow it is.

I honestly don't think it matters too much, I can't even remember who's idea it is was. It give the cars a bit of time to establish their positions before going into T1, so I think it's a decent idea to keep it as it is.

I heard 12km.. maybe thats the length of the straight's.. and the corners are 3km each.. :dopey:
Any chance of a link to that article on the GT5 website?

I've not run any IndyCar since the tyre wear update, so I'll do that sometime tonight at Indy.

Online? Cause I'd be happy to join and help if I could. 👍

EDIT: Look at my post count.. 1234th post :D

Yes online, but I doubt you'd want to hang around while I do a load of laps solo in free run. That's how I test most things, as it gives me numbers to go off of for things in race conditions, such as whether the field is running slowly or not (to save fuel/tyres), rate of tyre/fuel wear/use compared to running out front, and fuel usage/saving behind the leader. I can also make a handling comparision between running out front and running behind someone/anyone in their dirty air.

The other thing I'll be testing is entering the pits at our speed limit of 60mph, as I've not done that in ages either.

EDIT: Was it the fuel that went before the tyres at Indy? I can't even remember.

What will we do if we encounter the online bug in the race?

I don't mind as I'd probably help you get some numbers for in front of behind 1 car :dopey:

And I've done this thing before for the NASCAR Nationwide Series with tezgm99 testing how long it takes the tyres to go and how long the fuel lasts and average lap times etc.

I stayed with him in free run for about 43 laps, well that's what I done anyway before I left him to either continue or leave dunno which he done. 👍

So if I can help out anyway at all I'd be glad to 👍

EDIT: If we encounter the bug I'd imagine there would be a brief conversation with Tom about the problems over the Mic's until it's either postponed/cancelled/continued.

I finished some solo running at Indy. Tyres won't be a problem at all, which is good for me as it means I can run any line I wish without issues. Fuel lasts the same as it did before, which I knew anyway but wanted to check.

Due to how we set up the transmissions for the oval races and the trickiness of passing, laptimes will mostly be the same as running solo.

So the only things that would be handy to test before the race are running behind someone to check the effect of the dirty air, and fuel saving, which would be minimal due to the transmission settings, but still useful. I could work it out during the race (I usually have to), but it'd be easier to do beforehand.

Oh didn't know you did it already..:dopey:

So how long does fuel last then?:)

That kind of info, fuel, tires, strategy, setups, are kept between team mates ;)

Edit: Or not

I remember you saying something along those lines about fuel and pit stops at Tokyo, that's all :p
