Who am I? - Mitsubishi all the way!

Jackie is cool! - He speaks funny! - He is funny!

someone should have put Bruce Lee in this pole, he was a horrible actor but was way more kickass than jackie chan or jet li. then again, jackie chan's old movies are way better than any of jet li's movies. but Bruce will always be the boss.

I voted for the food, Chan is better! I'd would like to see these two head to head in a movie though. Li would play the bad guy, he has done it before.

This is an intersting thread.
Most see Jackie as humorous and doing his own stunts.
I guess no one sees Jet doing the same, albeit not as good of an actor.
On the fighting, Jet wins all.
If you watch Lethal Weapon 4 Riggs has to shove an iron rod through Jet Li many a time just for him to die, highly unrealistic
In KungFu, your mental state is what gets you through situation like this. Sure its not real, but in a real fight, under similar conditions, Jet would have mentally overcome the bar and kicked arse.

Jet Li with the ropes is a form of martial art too. For him to use such an instrument and many others is showing me his talent is much better than throwing a bunch of things at ppl to get away, like Jackie does in his movies.

Bruce Lee is the king of Martial Arts. With all the fighting forms he knew, his mental state and physical state, could have beat both up if it came down to a real fight.
Too bad they arent really fighting (Bruce, Jet, Jackie), because I would have loved the outcome of the end.
Only thing I hate about the Jet movies is the fake flying and stupid stuff like that. There are other movies in which its kept more real and this is where Jet shines.
Jet vs Jackie in a real fight, Jet.
Good topic.
All in all, I like a good martial arts movie never mind who is starring in it.

tom M, you said exactly what I was going to say. about jackies training at an acting school versus jet lis training from being young. i think he was a wushu champ from age 14.

for movies I would say they have both made great ones. if we were talking about american moview jackie would definately be ahead. jet lis american movies are all crap. they all redo the same played out martial arts stuff from his other movies a long time ago, except this time around there is a weak story to go with it. those gangsters in romeo must die are funny. I like the films he made in hong kong before. like fist of legend.

has anyone seen "the shaolin temple"? jet lis first movie. he was like 15. he does incredible acrobatics in this movie.

jackie chan is the better actor because he has been doing it longer. and he has been in hollywood long enough to pick good roles. jet lis hollywood movies are all garbage.

for martial arts, jet li would kill jackie.

who says jet li doesnt do his own stunts? everyone is amazed that jackie chan does his own stunts, because they hear that crap on the stupid hollywood news shows.

"oooh, he does his own stunts!!"

   :p

^ Nobody. Most Jet Li's movies.. he's not doing his own stunts.. there is some computer animated help.

hollywood news shows? I heard him say out of his own mouth.

dayum, don't gas yourself.

i dont dispute every one of jet lis american movies has been crap. computer animation, over used and dramatized wire acrobatics, sure. i like his other movies.

i dont think in any of his older movies computer effects or stuntmen are used. it would be interesting to see.

i just found it frusterating because so many people say "he does his own stunts! so i pick him!", when i consider jet li way more athletically talented. it would be hard to think that a stuntman could do the acrobatics that he does, better.

Thank you AdvanR, someone has a lever head about them. ;)

^^ Thats understandable, but *people* like me were stating there opinion, what they think.

And heh if they picked jackie chan over Jet Li, coz' he *does his own stunts* then more power to them.

Iyo(In your opinion), you consider Jet Li more talented&better stunt coordinated then heh..
more power to you!

But when it comes down to me and *Jackie chan or Jet Li* being better, I pick Jackie Chan.. "He does his own *bleep* *bleep* got dayum stunts". That's my opinion and what I'm sticking with.

:trouble:

Okay, I'm going to retract my first statement, because I was very misinformed when I posted that and it also makes me seem narrow minded.

Jackie and Jet both have their weaknesses and strong points. Jet's strengths are definatly in his martial arts. I recently saw Fist of Lengends and Shaolin Temple and they were great. Jet does more showy things like acrobatics. Jackie doesn't really show off as much during his movies. If Jet and Jackie got in a fight, Jet would win, no contest. Jackie is a way better actor, but he has been doing it longer. Jet also tends to be in movies aimed at younger "hip" people, but the movies are still mostly martial arts. Jackie's older movies were based more martial arts and fighting than the ones he makes now.

I do like Jackie over Jet, because of the way Jackie uses objects around him. I can't remember the movie (saw it on TV last week), but he was weaving in and out of a ladder and hitting bad guys while doing it, and it was very impressive. In Shanghi Noon, he used his hair, and a rope, with I believe a horse shoe tied to the end. It looks as though he didn't plan that he was going to use the rope, but it just happens. Uhg, now I'm rambling.

I still like them both.

OA

PS: Here is a link for a list of both Jackie Chan and Jet Li's movies.

hhaha talentless.

Im glad you brought up stunt coordination. I didnt say i thought Jet was a better stunt coordinator, and now that Im thinking about it, jackie is a way better stunt coordinator. I am impressed that he can come up with the stuff that he does, and think that because he *does his own stunt coordination* is way more impressive than his *does own stunts*. Besides, as i said before, im sure jet does his own stunts also.

Overall, jackie has better movies i think. He is a better actor, and can add in something else to them, humor. He is pretty damn funny. Jets american movies have had too much of a serious tone, and because of that, and the fact that they just plain suck, um ........ that is why they are bad (but i already said that....)

In a fight (which i thought this thread was based on), jet would kill him, no contest.

I think it was wrong for some people to say "i pick jackie cause he does own stunts!!!", because I believe jet does also. I imagine so many people have said this because Jackies movies are more well known (including hong kong films), and Jets american movies just suck (hong kong movies are probably unknown by many). I think it is more amazing that Jackie coordinates the things he does. Especially his use of props.

i dunno who's better, but to address advan's point about humor, i think humor is over done in movies. i'm sick of comic relief, but i'm probably in the minority.

thats kind of true. a little humor hear and there is good for everybody (luaghing is healthy?). But there may be too much lately. I dont really know. I observe that from only seeing all of the TV spots for movies. I have only seen probably 5 movies in theaters over the past couple years. Last, and one of the best Ive seen, Adaptation. ****ing great, and hilarious. The comedy done there is not at all overdone.

I just saw someone explain this on a tv review of cradle 2 the grave. a horrible movie btw, all of these rap kung fu retarded movies are stupid.

The guy said that because jets english is really bad he cant get more serious roles, with more complex dialogue. This makes sense. I think the guy needs to go take some lessons before he comes out with another POS kung fu rap movie.
