If by stupid things you mean entertaining themselves, then yes. But the same is true for any part of the world. The Scots throw telephone poles, for example. In the states, we have tons of stupid hobbies / past times. I even find our professional sports to be rather rediculous at times.

Yes, but these past times are usually dominated by people in Japan and/or China. Examples being Ping-pong and yo-yos.

They're also pretty damn good in those hot dog eating contests.

"The Tsunami" Kobayashi is the champion. In one competition he gained I think it was 8 pounds in 3 minutes. Hes a skinny guy, too! He got beat by a Grizzly Bear on the show "Man Vs. Beast" and I think thats all he lost..He beat the world record by like 40 Hot dogs..

A Japanese guy usually wins the the Forth of July hot dog eating contest in Coney Island. The Japense don't have strong, dense stomach muscles, so they can really pack it in.

But i like their policy : the audience (I dont know how it's spelled) always goes first . That's why they have farting contests
