Ok! Just picked up my copy of GT5 and ordered my 911 Carrera wheel!! Can't wait for the wheel to get here, installing the game's update right now!

Ok! So I know I said this would be done by last Friday, but guess what? GT5 got here! so after a hole weekend of playing now it's time to get this thing done!
So to Black Friday/today's update:

Got me a nice 32" TV

And today got finished with the front and rear speaker mounts:

So that's it for tonight, hopefully will get final cuts and faabrication done tomorrow and my Fanatec wheel should be here this week, though I'm still waiting on them to send me some type of tracking number or order status or even some type of comunication for that matter...

The 1 1/2"x12" nipples, 1" 90* rigid and 1 1/2" 45* were bought on City Electric Suply, the aluminum sheet was bought in Alro Metals and everything else is straight out of The Home Depot.

Thats a great build you got going there man. Looking forward to the final build. We will have to start a Florida Rig club or someting

Somehow I missed this, doh...

Already would like to praise your efforts and "own ideas". Thumbs up that this is not yet another CK duplicate.

Also nice to see some originality. I admire your enthausiam and good work so far.
My own ideas uses a similar method of clamping together (no welds) to create a rollcage type frame but with (Chrome Shop Fittings). Yeah like you I too love shiny metal...

Look forward with more interest and just wanted to give you some support.

PS. I want to se at least 1x Buttkicker/Transducer on this... :sly:

Thank's man! I wanted to build something simple, easy to replicate and original... I'm close to the final product now, all that's left is to fabricate the wheel plate, tv mount, ps3 mount, finish polishing, tuck the wires and wheel is supossed to be here on Monday! Woll definitely post pictures of the proces!

When you say "polished', do you mean that you've removed the galvanized coating from the tubes?

Yup the coating goes away in the polishing process, I'm just using Mother's metal polishing paste and good old elbow greese!

Ah, I see :)

You may want to lacquer the final finish to keep out the moisture in the air because it will be prone to rust (albeit only surface rust) and that'll ruin all your hard work! :)

Ok! Small update for today... This is just another mockup before I get to the serious polishing and final assembly on the weekend:

Looking awsome, very funky design. Borrow a camera when you get it finished 100%. It would be great to see some high quality pics.

Also, how are you joining the aluminium sheets (the wing to supports)?
 
Everithing was held together with bolts, I thought about rivets bu finally decided to go with bolts.

The center tube is very sturdy, no play or wable at all, but anyways I plan on fabricating some curved sheet aluminum bracing similar to an airplane wing rib for the center tube, monitor tubes and subwoofer to rear speakers. Something similar to this but with some nice flowing curves:

That's a good idea, Scotch brite pads produce a similar finish to what you describe, so that's another posibility.
I plan on using a 32" monitor.

If the wheel post is sturdy enough I wouldnt use the brace. I have a game racer seat and the center post gets in the way when Heel and toe or left foot braking!
 
Sorry for the double post....This set up is awesome....Well done for the thinking! Im an engineer but basicly took the shortcut and bought a game racer seat since A: I could afford it, B: I Engineer all the time and only do it at home if I have to, C: I dont have a garage or yard to do the mucky stuff in since I live in a flat (appartment for our US freinds). I dont wanna criticise what is a briliant idea...

However....Did you think that instead of the support between your legs you could "T" off the wheel base? Use some more of those bends and "t" into the "stringers" running along the floor? I know It would mean cutting and threading those pipes but it would give a "rollcage" look to die for.

Doing the above would reduce the need for custom parts and you could actually market this cockpit as a flat pack....

Again VERY well done!!!!!!!! MEGA Impressed!!

EDIT...Oh you could even "T" off one of the "rollcage" bits for a shifter mount.....I hope you dont patent this Im thinking of building one with the above mods!
 
ah remove the ricer wing makes it look too dramatic and cheap! other than that though i love it, great setup and for a diy i think you did a superb job!

Instead of two completely solid long tubes and a piece of bendable sheet metal in the middle (unless you get something super thick but then it would be prob. be unpractically too heavy?) I would instead use a series of shorter tubes connected by * T * jointes w/ the longest part of the "T" facing inwards, perpendicular to the long tubes.

I would have for sets of those, then run two short metal pipes connecting them and mount the seat on that, that way you could put casters/wheels under the frame where the seat is mounted and along the sides of the piping without potentially warping the whole frame.

This is an amazingly well thought out base design that can be configured in multiple ways, I dig it 👍 👍
 
Are you kiddin me Jav?? Nice man, nice. Is it final? No wonder your dustin us 💡 When i move into the new home, I plan on having a side by side rig with my xbr
