Hey. I already searched the net and i think you guys are better. So i have a problem with a Jetta. Its a 1996 or a 1995. Anyway i think the timing chain is gone and i dont have a manuel so how do you guys think i fix it? Any suggestions on what do to, what i need, how much it will cost and should i just get it done by the pros? Any help is welcome. Thank you.

If it's the 8v 2.slow then you shouldn't have any valve damage since it isn't an interference design. If you feel adventurous, then go for it. It's a breeze to fix... but I would suggest that you invest some money and get the Robert Bentley service manual for the mk3 Golfs/Jettas. I think it's $60 new and used ones are available for less. Oh and make sure you have metric tools... VW's typically require 4 sizes 11, 13, 17 and sometimes 19mm sockets/wrenches. Just make sure everything is done as indicated in the book. If you don't feel comfortable... take it to a mech.

If it's a VR6, then sorry... haven't rebuilt one of those engines, yet... :trouble:
