Which car(s) do you think should get a small hp boost? After that it's final, like we did last season a small adjustment after R1 and that was it for the rest of the season.

i like this way:)

:dopey: Yeeeaaa!! Need all the help i can get. Getting tired of chewing dust and breathing fumes

Update :

Ran the RE Amemiya RX-7 in R1 Qualif specs and got 1'08.923 in 10 laps. Using the same amount of time I took with my Subaru for my personnal qualif I can attest I could equal if not better my time.

I have to stand with Eats on this. During testing of both the Subaru and the RX-7 I could not see any really measureable difference in times between the two.

And I dropped it to 332hp from your final report of 335. :) Right now I'm thinking of 0% for the RE and settle at 319hp to please everyone.

Update :

Warning I never drove the '01 NSX before in GT4

15 laps best 1'03.215, it's a hard car to drive! I could only get high 1'02.xxx at best since I have no experience what so ever with it.

The problem is, as I see it, that the RX7 has the lowest Hp/Kg ratio of all the GT300 cars.

Celica @0.37715 Hp:kg
S2000 @0.30857
MR-S @0.30311
Subby @0.30182
Altezza@0.30100
Garaiya@0.29333
RX-7. @0.28636

Now those figures are off the std settings for R1, and yes there have been changes. But seeing as Eats and Nuvo are testing from those settings they are valid.

My point is that no matter how well a car handles, if it hasn't got the same power to weight ratio it will never be able to be competative around any course with either long straights or hills. Physical impossibility!

A car with a better PWR will always accelerate faster out of the corners and will always climb hills better, than one with a lower PWR.
The Garaiya doesn't have a good PWR either, however it has enough torque to stop the planet spinning on it's axis and it's torque curve is very 'flat' in the low-mid rev ranges, so it's jumps out of the corners like a scalded gazzell.

So "obviously" I want more power to the RX7's, preferably similar to the Subby's.

But then I would wouldn't I?;)

The RX-7 at 332hp I could destroy the 1'08.000 mark.

Just tested and made 1'07.963 on lap 4. That's out of this world fast!!!

Balls let off the crack now.

I tried out my ex mates ride to give him some input/help at mid-field and I must say.....THE CAR SUCKED A$$ !!! Compared to the pre-season testing with the stock Supra at Mid-field, I ran 1.5 sec slower. Later on, I checked the Pitwork and was right up there with the Supra, after a couple of laps.
It might take a bit more practice with the NXS, but 1.5 sec from the get go on an easy track......hmm ? :trouble:

Edit: I was just going to test the RX-7........LMAO.....thx Ev4l !

Just curious Neil, but why did you pick the RX-7 if it's NFG? Why not the Garaiya?

Didn't say that the RX7 was NFG, it's great round the corners. But strangely lacking in the oomph dept.

I was going for the Garaiya, but plumped for the RX7 when I got teamed up with Casio. A mazda based team seemed like a good idea (and still is)

I'll shut up now!:D

As an impartial observer I have this to say.

Assuming weights are within oh... 50kg's of each other, the cars would be close in performance but on a tighter circuit the RX-7 would die. I'm not too familiar with Mid-Field but, as I understand it there is one corner that could be a difference maker in slowing the RX-7 up. First though, the RX-7 does have a brilliantly smooth HP curve which must make it very comfortable to drive, with no surprises under hard acceleration. But, the torque numbers are tiny, the Rotary in the RX-7 vs. RX-8 makes more horsepower but appears to sacrifice torque to do so (this is taken from my knowledge of the road cars and I'm assuming it holds true to the race cars.) Now, as Balls pics showed, the RX-7 is lacking in torque to at least one competitor. A slight decrease in weight (you fellas oughta decide) or a slight increase in horsepower should do you just fine. Also, for the NSX, I realize it was unsucessful in this weeks event at Mid-Field, but doesn't the NSX have the most horsepower of the lot? (I'm insinuating that this could be a issue with the cars weight causing handling problems.)

Just my two cents,

m.piedgros

Note: To PIED. EATS has a weight penelty system for winning and loosing, to help even out the "drivers" from the "nondrivers". Also the NXS is the only mid engine in the field (GT500) and yes it is a handful.

Hey EATS, when will we find out if we get modifications to our HP. Saw Fastj has his already :sly: .

Those are winners air restrictor penalty. The hp correction will take place either R2 race or R3 qualif if there's one.

Except fasj's inlet restrictor was stipulated in the rules and will apply to anyone with the audacity to win a race! :^)

It is odd that the overpowerful (at first glance) NSX with their perfect weight balance and tire conservation tendencies are slow...

Hey Curtis, take the Mobil-1 out for a lap of Midfield and tell us what you can qualify at!

The S2000 in GT300 doesn't have any power problems. It's just the tyres, it eats them up. If you push it on hards they just wear out riduclously fast. That was with a wheel. With the ds2 you do another 2 laps less on them.

I would suggest that we could have racing super hards but its up to you in the end to decide as they are a banned tyre.

I just tested the S2000. I could of made the exact same carbon copy strategy that got me a 2nd position. My in race times were dead even with my Subaru ones.

Start : RM-RS
Lap 9 : RM-RS
Lap 17 : RM-RS
Lap 25 : RM-RS
Lap 33 : RM-RS
Lap 41 : RS-RS

So no you guys in the S2000 don't have a tire wear problem.

PS : the Subaru can pull more than 8 laps out of a RM-RS combo, I'm the one who decided to pit after 8 and come in one extra time. Seeing I can do the same exact number of laps and same lap times I could of done a race time almost equal or better to mine in the S2000.

in a 4 lap session i just did, first time in a Locite '01 NSX this is how it went
300km/h gearing
0'19.996 - 0'39.151 = 1'14.574 ~ spin at the final hairpin, no contact 👍
0'19.757 - 0'38.950 = 1'03.386
0'19.692 - 0'38.763 = 1'03.074 ~ final hairpin, woulda got major points in D1 drifting
0'19.549 - 0'38.508 = 1'02.868 ~ hmmm .8 off pole aint that bad

you see, that´s why me and casio were worried in the start of the season that the NSX could run the table. its the slowest at first hand. but after you get used to the car, and drives differentely than what you do in other cars, it becames a very good car.

different driving stiles also are a big factor here. the NSX does not tolerate turning under braking, you have to be smoother with this car. and we expect the NSX to be a little slower in hotlapping, since it has amazing tire wear... i was aiming at 0´3 or 0´5 slower, because with this car you save up a pit during the race.

driven USA, don´t take this personally, i know how bad it is to feel that the car is underpowered... if you want PM me with your impressions to see if i can help, since i drove your car in testing...

Yes. The NSX's are not to be underated. I remember in our first test, I got the '03 NSX to be the fastest in the field. While Fasj didn't agree with me and got it over a second out from my time.

It does require a different driving style, like Fasj said, turning while braking is a no-no. Which is why we originally got different results in the car, as I do nearly 100% of my braking before I even start turning in, whereas Fasj may have done it differently.

Thanks for doing this for us Curtis. It's amazing that you can bring down your times jumping into a new car that quickly! Too bad you and Dan didn't get these cars then there'd be no issues since it's clear you can hustle them pretty well. Of course in the Xanavi NISMO you probably could have gone 1'01.8. :)

Comment to Casio's contention of not turning while braking: That behavior would definintely be detrimental to my getting a fast time since I do a lot of trail braking and it takes me a while to get used to th brake-turn-gas style of driving. Maybe this qual session I'll try the NSX again for grins.

Well lets see here - The NXS's are known for there straight line speed, not handling - Midfield is a straight line track so the NXS's should do well
Lets see the results

Qualifiing

10 Appie17 1'03.453 +1.4
11 Jump-Ace 1'03.649 +1.6
12 DRIVEN -USA- 1'03.744 +1.7

Jump-ace (no time)

Note: its only a 47 lap race - we lost by 80+ seconds thats almost 2 seconds a lap for all NXS's not just me.

Tire wear

I ran Rs/Rm for 6 laps (twice) getting 6 laps each run Rm/Rh for 9 laps each
"H" ran 6 laps on softs also w/ a Supra - tire wears the same - But can run much faster times
(don't have others to compare to "yet" )

End results - We need more power

More data from the Nissan camp:

Ran 7 laps on Softs, 10 laps x 4 on Med/Hard with front wearing out first.
fasj ran 10 laps x 4 on Med fronts (don't know rears) and then 7 laps Softs. SO, either the NSX is NOT easy on tires, or you're pushing too hard into the corners.

OTOH, based on the WRS race in the Altezza at Midfield:

We know VT was on the wrong tires. I'm slower than Curtis by about the same amount as in that race (though I think I spent a HUGE amount of time on that vs. this qual) as is Casio. fasj is closer. DRIVEN, you are further back than above and so is jump_ace.

This seems to show that the XANAVI NISMO GT-R, Pitwork Z, and the RX-7 are weighted appropriately, however it can be viewed as justification for help for the Hondas.

Just more data (which I LOVE to grind out...)

This assumes that we had the same skill level then as now though doesn't it. I mean, if we ran this race 8 months ago when that WRS race was posted, I wouldn't get close to this time I got now. (Does that make sense?). RandyMc, KLR, Jump_ace and myself have all graduated to D1 since that race.

What I'm trying to say is...I reckon I could beat that week 23 time pretty easy now, not by much, but I don't think it would take me long.

That's quite incredible. Slowest time by 0.6 of a second.

EDIT: Did week 23 again. Got a 1'05.022 within 10 minutes. However, I was up on my week 23 T2 split by almost 0.1, just stuffed the last corner.

that´s what i hope to hear. 0´3 to 0´5 slower is what we looked for the NSX in the qualys... the question is: do you guys can save it up a pit using the NSX? that´s why we tried to set up those cars a bit slower, because they make it up during the race... lets see what do you guys get in the race...

amazing how close the times are

but that takata, is totally off pace ~ has like 4 passeners in the car with it
