An etiquette question with regards to the race.

How many attempts are people likely to have at the actual race? Luckily the length of the race will probably prevent too many re-starts. I guess what i'm asking (without wanting to assume or offend) is, 'do you racers feel that your time submitted should reflect your current racing skill or the best time achievable out of many tries'? For instance the qualify is by nature a 'put in as many laps and submit the best' which is what i intend to do. But as for the race, I will probably do a dummy run to finallise stratagy and familiarise myself with the T-Dome NSX then go for it properly, otherwise i'm only fooling myself? Is that the correct way to look at it?
How do you guys feel about this? Just want to know what i'm up against mentality wise.

Hope qualifing is going well!

Hiya Biochemist:
I can only speak for myself but I've run several 30 Lap "Tests" to help me set the trans & decide which Tyres to use. If I have the time I'll most likely run the entire race at least Twice...O.G. :D

"etiquite" - did most of the setups in the "original circuits" then did 1 practice race to see how it worked w/ tire wear and AI - (not that great - slow). did multiple setups runs in the F1 race series (the only race long enough and short enough) to see how the tires would wear. This weekend will do the actual race itself (multiple times if necesary :yuck: ) at least its over in less that 2 hours.

I'll do most of my testing and tuning in the "original circuits" section. Then I have plans to run the actual enduro twice only. Best overall time will be the final one, that's it that's all.

daan, thanks for joining. You're all set for the No. 27 Calsonic Nissan.

Yeah, you guys can re-run the race as much as you need. I figured the length of the race would preclude someone from running it too many times, but hey, if you need to, go right ahead. Personally, I'm going to do the race once, and take whatever incidents/spins/off track excursions I get myself into. (More realistic, since the RL guys don't get do-overs.)

As for the various controllers you're using, you're free to share which one you use. I'm just using my DS2. (I figure if I get a wheel/pedal set, I'll have to get a cockpit, and then I'll have to get a helmet/driving suit and that would just be taking it too far. :) )

eatsviper: The front page rules have been revised to show all cars must be stock HP, except for oil changes.

Hope qualifying is going well with all of you. I'm gonna go home tonight and pound out some laps.

1 Attempt would be a better idea, just for realism

up untill the race, you can have as many practice sessions you want.

But when race time comes along, no 2nd chances in real life :D

Well, like I said earlier, I would like to do more races like this in the future, and want to know how I can modify/improve the rules so everyone has an enjoyable experience.

We'll go with as many attempts as you like for this one, and perhaps in the future, if I'm lucky enough to get to do this again, we'll look at limiting it to one race attempt. I'm just saying I'm going to do only one attempt for the realism factor. Just a personal opinion as a Mulsanne the driver and not Mulsanne the race operator.

Ok, im thinking in geting into that with the Mobil1 NSX, but i will have to see first wut of available cars are good or not. Just a question, to get into, first i do the qualify lap?

Yeah, just let me know which car you want and what car number you want, we'll sign you up and you can run a qualifying lap. Just to let you know, tonight midnight is the deadline for submitting qualifying times.

I hope you'll join us.
