JGTC S2 appreciation/comments & S3 suggestion thread

LOL, I think we should tweak the points so you stay in 5th place for all of S2! :D

But seriously, S1 was every bit as fun as the 2005 pre-season but with even more excitement! It's so great to find a group of people who genuinely enjoy this type of racing as much as I do.

Round 1 of Super GT (RL) starts this weekend. It will be fun to race along with them.

Now that the season's over, I'll just make a few comments.

Overall, I would rate the series 90/100. It's not perfect, but I think nearly all of the issues will sort themselves out if the prospective field for next season joins up and hangs around.

I like the idea of posting the race before qualifying is finished, giving two weekends to do the race (ev4l, I believe this was discussed before the current season?)

I'm not sure how we deal with part-time drivers "stealing" points from full-time, I'd rather keep a simple points system than start penalising part-timers for not competing. The whole point of offering a part-time option is that you don't have to compete every week, I reckon it would drive competitors away if they get a points penalty. For myself, if I missed a number of races during the season that meant I was not in contention for the championship, but I came back to the series near the end, I would probably ask to not score points so I didn't disrupt the battle. On the other hand, the S1 championship battle would have been improved if a few part-timers had come back into the series for the last few races. I'd rather keep it simple.

One final point, I think a lot of testing needs to be done to balance the LM cars, and other non-JGTC cars that might be included in S2. It's my opinion that the RX-8 in particular cannot be effectively balanced, if you handicap its qualifying pace through reduced hp then it will be very uncompetitive in race form. But I am willing to go with the majority on this one, if people want them, and ev4l thinks they can be balanced, then I'm happy to race against them.

But I will say that I won't be picking a "LM" or other non-JGTC car next season, and definitely not the RX-8.

 S2 is gonna be cool!

since we started the car testing, here´s a list of possible cars to add to the lineup...

would be good to have the full list of cars as soon as possible so we can include them to the testing...

i think about those cars to be incloded:

BMW M3 GT-R
Integra LM
Falken R34
calsonic skyline ´93
nissan GT-R LM
FTO LM
mazda 6 LM
amuse GT1 S 2000

and maybe...

one lancer for GT300???
oreca viper and corvette LM for GT500???
other DTM car???

some crazy ideas... i know we have to respect the japanese feel of the series... but lets see what viper and you guys think about those cars...

Place this under the "suggestion" aspect ... with the points issue and being part-time.

Though I've yet to race in this series, I've been following the threads. My intentions of becoming part-time are to see if I like the series, not effect the series.

There are some valid arguments being made about not awarding points to a part-time driver (Casio) .... If I were in a simular situation, I would be frustrated also.

Hey Eats ? What about having the part-timers place in the overall race, but have a seperate board for the part-timers ? Sort of a mini-series with the the JGTC.

Was it Nuvolari that mentioned being able to expand the base ? By allowing new drivers to join as the season progresses, they can be added to that roster. Gives them a chance to develop into full time.

Just some insight from someone looking to come in, have some fun and learn. Without concern about my comittment to not just the race series, but whatever team member I would've ended up with.

I don't have a problem with not attaining "Championship" points. By not becoming a full time driver I feel as though I've already opted out. My choice, reguarless if I drive every race.

thanks for the ear :)

Maybe the Nurburgring could be used as a Pre, Mid, or Post season break for a special non-point paying enduro. Give the drivers a longer time than normal to enter times for a 6,10, 12, or 24 hour event.
