JGTC S2 Round 1 Race + Results

Well I'm going to keep trying and I'll be sticking with this comp but GT4 just wasn't made for real racing in my opinion. I hope GT Vision has more intelligent AI!

I'm off to the Motor Show for the day, I might give this another shot tomorrow when I've cooled down further :indiff:
 
Ashiya, Japan (AP) ~ The headquarters for Blind Sweatshop Kittens moved here during the offseason, but an exciting change has devolved. BSK has allowed Teledriel to become a driver for a new team, Team Rotarz, for this season of JGTC.

This surprizing move took place not more than a week ago. With a new car this season, the Asparadrink RX-7, Teledriel hopes to be able to improve the season from last one.

"The car feels alot better than the S2K we ran the first season. Handles alot better to my driving, and she can fly. Didn't do to well in the first Qual, but that is sort of expected as my driving skills are still being sharpened, and still getting somewhat use to the new car.

I am proud to be a part of Team Rotarz, with VTRacing. There is a driver. Taking the pole in the 500 series. I know he was shocked, but he deserves it. He has a good car, and knows how to run it. Hopefully I can not drag down the team to much, but this is all about the fun and getting out here and supporting our fans.

And to the new drivers this season, welcome to the intensity of JGTC, nothing quite like it. Hope your shops have extra cash to take care of all the side panels from the other drivers."
 
When you PM me your race result I need to know not only the number of pitstops you did but also on which lap it was. That and the tire type you used each time also.
 
Finished my first full run. I've done about 3 half runs this getting tyre life, fuel burn, AI pit statergys etc. Turns out good research as I only had to pass 2 cars on the track for the whole race, except for the start of course.

But I did find something interesting, when the AI go into the pits they turn invisible, I never noticed this before. I went in directly behind a car, looked around, couldn't see it, and I exited infront of it and when I looked back it appeared for no where.

For the past JGTC drivers what do you think about the difference between the AI starting on RH like last season and on RM for this one?

Managed to get a second race distance in tonight on the softer tyres and I ended up beating my first time by 1 second :crazy:
A lot more overtaking this time but I found it reasonably easy as I could carry more speed through the corners.

Reasonably happy with my time but I doubt I will equal my qualifying performance.

just had one try...and kinda messed up :crazy:
some slight rock-touches and 2 offs included plus 3 penalties :yuck:
however overtaking was no problem 👍 ...just one time i almost spun out trying to overtake the falcon in the long left after the 2nd tunnel...

had some good times in the end when my fuel-lamp got red. i can swear the car's handling was better.

hope i can get some wheight reduction for the next race :sick:

Haven't had the time yet to run the actual race but it should be done friday for the first time. Testing & Pitting strategy on friday plus a first try, and maybe 1-2 more tries each day on saturday and sunday.

For round 2 the race thread will go up on the first friday of qualification week, given people two complete weekends to run the race. (friday, saturday, sunday plus the normal race week). 👍

Round 2 qualif will be from the 17th (Monday) until 23rd (Sunday) and the race will be from the 24th (Monday) until 30th (Sunday).

But I'll put the race thread for round 2 up on the 21st (Friday) to give 2 full weekends for the ones who want to start earlier the actual race. 👍

There are approximately 5.5 hours until deadline.

Interesting concept with the one run only decision hotboi. We might have a chance now!! :sly:

I know that I took a full minute off my second attempt.

@ev4l: I quite like the AI being on RM. It makes them difficult to pass but this is more realistic since their pace is closer to our own. And the added bonus is that they pit more often giving us more chances of passing in the pits.
 
There's a link in the first post of this thread that you can check the time at my place, when it reaches 11:59PM it's the race deadline.
 
Just submitted my time. No offs and only limited trouble with the AI. I was concentrating on getting as many laps out of my first set of tires so the AI pulled out to a nice lead on me, and thus left me alone most of the race. Made the race a 3 stop race, and finished 4th versus the AI.

I do have one question that someone here may know the answer to. Is there any way to adjust the length of the replay that's recorded? I was scanning thru mine and it stopped at lap 24.

haha 2 spins on the final chicane ( no wall contacts )
and 2 offs just b4 the entrance into the tunnel b4 t1, ( no walls )

due to my bad strategy from the start... i overpushed just after t1 and tag'd a rock ( 10 sec ) happen'd on lap 37...

4 stopper, mediums, then hards

Nah, I'm getting the hang of the old DS2 again, but consistency is tricky this way. Ran a solid race with only 1 penalty courtesy of that damn rocky outcropping before turn 6/7. Also had a scary off-track excursion at turn 3 but managed take off enough speed on the grass to recover, losing only 3 seconds.

I like the AI on RM, a bit more challenging on track, and they don't SEEM to pit too often. Finished 2 laps up on the 2nd place Zonda LM Race Car. Nice thing about GT500, I actually have to put gas in the car at some point, woohoo :D

BTW, you Melbourne lot, I know you're out there, I can hear you breathing. Anyone with any tips on where to go in the city for good prices on DFPs? Please guys, best price I've found so far is $299, can anyone beat it?

On a personal note, I had an awesome motorsports-themed weekend. Went to see Albert Park where they host the Australian F1 GP, walked the length of the track (I think, it's just a road during the year) and got some pics of F1 tire tracks in the pit boxes. Then yesterday went to the Moto GP at Phillip Island, absolutely awesome! Some tight racing, with 250cc being decided on the line!

Just sent my time in. I used a bit more aggressive pit strategy, and had to pit 5 times. I think I ran off the track/spun 3-4 times and had one penalty. However, I did have good luck w/ the AI, and ended up lapping every single one of them (actually passed 2nd on the last lap)
 
Time Submitted. Only had one go at the race due to a busy week. It was a very inconsistent race i had 4 penalties and a couple of spins so i'm not really looking forward to the results.

I had one last go a this race but ended up 8 seconds slower than my previous attempt due to a penalty.

I couldn't complete the race with fewer than 5 pitstops, which makes me a bit nervous about the results. I ran RH/RH, with one short stint of RM/RH to fill in the gaps and try for a fast lap.

I only made 4 stops. 3 to get RH/RH and my last with RS/RS. You could make this a 3 stop if you really wanted to.

Any idea how long until the times are up?

They'll be up within 24hrs (and probably much sooner). Our veteran race host is usually quick about it.
 
Should be up in like 30 mins I guess.

I just can't believe my eyes at those results. :eek:

Oh and already one full-time driver not sending a time in...not good news.

That's me. Sorry, I had absolutely no time this week to run anything. If I remember the rules correctly, I'm allowed to miss one event whether it be qualifying/race all season? I guess that's this week. It won't happen again, just this week has been ridiculously busy. I'll be back next week.
