JGTC S2 Round 1 Race + Results

Results are up. Really strange because I'm not even excited since I can't even believe I finished 1st this round. I guess I just don't even realize it yet! The only thing I can say is that it was perhaps the hardest round in the JGTC series for me including last season. Not a walk in the park at all. :p

So congrats to all, podium finishers and the others also. If you're a little low in the standings don't worry because the real racetrack layouts are coming soon so things could change really fast. Hell I don't even expect to win another race this entire season again.

Thumbs up to fasj6418 and VTRacing for 2nd and 3rd place in GT500. 👍 Finish in GT300 is just retarded plain and simple...0.116 between the first two I've never seen that. :eek: Good job ejr_1 on the win, Doombreed soooo close to get that win 👍 and Red Cloud with a very solid showing as well. 👍 Good job also to me teammate Lewie getting the 4th spot. :sly:

If you guys don't mind I will put up the Round 2 Qualif thread only tomorrow when I get home from work so I get the time to revise the hp figures to make the final adjustments to some cars and even the field.

Gratz all. 3 Pit stop race for me, 11 on hards till 3rd pit (Lap 33) then went to Mediums.

Stupid FTO is a pain once again, hate that Mitso!! (Looks for the lead weighted tires to put in his car) Penalities killed me though:

1. Lap 7 ~ Car cutting me off, at hairpin after long stright. (Wish had shotguns in the headlights)
2. Misjudged the pit entrance once (Silly me hit the barrer as entering)
3. Just before starting last lap, exit of last turn was loose

Nice run VTRacing 👍 I hope to do better though.

On the plus I got the 2nd fastest lap. Which by my rules, allows me to retain my title as the best.

This round was hard for me in the Motul...I can only imagine the guys in violent and unpredictable cars like the RX-7 LM and the Takata!!!

My pitstop strategy was :

Start on RM-RM
Lap 7 : Pitstop RM-RM
Lap 14 : Pitstop RM-RM
Lap 21 : Pitstop RH-RM + Fuel
Lap 31 : Pitstop RH-RM

My tire wear situation was :

RM-RM : 7 laps going on the red side up front, slowing down to be safe
RM-RM : 8 tires done up front, driving very carefully for last lap
RH-RM : 9 laps going on the red side in the back
RH-RM : 10 laps turning red in the back, careful driving on last lap

So that's why I decided to only push it once when I did from Lap 21 until 31 on my RH-RM tire set.
 
this race was a good one,

i put myself into a race mode feeling, and drove the race like i was actually in it

made for some scary moments coming to the final chicane, and the first 3 corner complex :crazy:

but very nice win Eats, and the gt300 winner

Interesting, the RX-8 is very easy to drive. The only problem is that it understeers like a dog.

I know that a number of guys (eatsviper included) run harder tyres on the front, but I find that makes the understeer worse. If I had the option I would have run RH/RSH to improve the balance and turn-in.

My strategy:
Start on RH/RH
Pit end of lap 7: RH/RH (Right front tyre orange)
Pit end lap 14: RH/RH
Pit end lap 21: RM/RH (Did this for balance, 2 sec/lap faster)
Pit end lap 26: RH/RH (But can only run 5 laps on mediums :( ) + fuel to 22
Pit end lap 33: RH/RH + fuel to 19-20

In the end, my strategy was fairly limited. There was no way I could run more than 7-8 laps with hards on the front. About 5 laps was the maximum for mediums on the front. So 5 x 7 laps + 1 x 5 laps = 40

I know I've been whingeing quite a bit, but this cars CHEWS tyres!! :)

I was only driving at about 80% the whole race because I wanted to conserve my tyres, and the RX-7 is just scary racing at ten-tenths.

Start: RH/RH
Lap 9: RH/RH
Lap 18: RH/RH
Lap 27: RH/RH
Lap 36: RS/RS

In hindsight I probably should of pitted every 10-12 laps, my tyres wern't even orange at the end of the nine laps. But I didn't have enough time to run another run. Next race I'm just going to go as long as possible on RH/RH if the pit lane is quite large.

The only place this car really had trouble was the bump after T1, where it got air, got tons of wheelspin and tried to dart off into the wall. But I love this RX-7, I slid it almost everytime around that cambered left hander.

I figured I could make it 8 laps on RM/RM tires. I just hit the pits after every 8th lap (which totalled 4 stops). The front-right tire was orange, but grip was still pretty good.

I might have saved some time using RH/RH and only making 3 stops, but I feel more comfortable with the extra grip of RM/RM.

I did have one penalty when I got distracted for a second and hit the wall. But the rest of the race was amazingly smooth. I had very little AI interaction. I managed my pit stops to avoid them as best as I could. I really don't see how I could've done much better than my submitted time.

Very enjoyable race. Trial Mountain is a nice track. What I learned is to stay off the yellow strip areas. I found I was faster when I took those turns wide.

i loved this race right from the start... after 3 bad starts last year, i think i know how to race now, i just have to remember that it isn´t 40 hotlaps, i can´t push too much otherwise i will make mistakes in most laps... first time i ran the car i felt a bit ackward, because i couldn´t run the the same set of tires front and back, so, i knew i had 4 laps with RS/RS and 6 laps with RM/RS (the car eats tires in the front)

so, my pit stategy was like this:

Lap 7 RM/RS - i push another lap just to get the right number of pits
Lap 13 RM/RS
Lap 19 RM/RS
Lap 25 RM/RS
Lap 31 RS/RS - i saw i had a open field, no AI, so time to push more! recorded fast lap on the 34
Lap 35 RM/RS

i like to race the full race pushing, but that hurts me sometimes... 6 pits is a lot, and i also make some mistakes... this time i had 1 penalty, after t1, in a very low speed section, but that´s ok... in my previous race, i had 3 penalties and 2 runoffs, and still my time was only 15 seconds slower... i push less in my second race, and that paid off, had no time for a 3rd race.

good, very happy with the result, now looking foward to my favorite track of all time in GT!!!! :dopey: :crazy: :drool: 👍 its autumn ring baby!!!

hope to get a few HP though, my skyline is a bit weak... lets see what we have this week...

but i have to say it was a lot of fun racing this weekend, really looked like an actual race 👍

Congratulations to everyone on the podium. That was a close GT300 race, and I sure as hell didn't expect the win. :)

I was very happy w/ my time for the first week, since I only ran two full race distances. I was very consistent w/ my fast laps, and actually ran my fastest on yellow tires. I would say about 34 out of 40 laps were w/in 1 second of each other, b/tw 1:24.0xx to 1:25.1xx. (excluding pit in and pit out laps)


I did, however, have 4 runoffs and one penalty. The penalty was right before T3, I got back onto the gas a split second early and clipped the mtn!!! All 4 runoffs were in the first 3 highspeed turns. I would get air or try to brake and turn on orange tires, but I never hit a wall.


My car chews up front tires, so I had to run RM-RS, and the front tires were still orange before the rear. I tried RH-RM, but I was losing 4-5 seconds a lap, and I was only able to run 11-12 laps compared to the 6-7 laps I was running on RM-RS.

My pit stops went like this. Never had to get gas, used RM-RS the entire time!!!
Lap 7, 13, 20, 27, 34

I did have 1 or 2 laps where the AI slowed me down by a second or two, but nothing major. I actually pitted on Lap 13, instead of running an extra lap, because I was coming up on traffic and didn't want to pass on yellow-orange tires.
 
@EV4L….are we going to have a thread or somewhere where you post team points and breakdown of points per race/qual? Also, congrats on your GT500 win!!!! Now that I have a feel for the race format, I expect to be on quite a few podiums!!!

I had a crappy week and did not get to run this race but a couple of times. I can see some improvement but no where near enough to catch the leaders.
Hopefully this next race will be better and hopefully i'll get a little horsepower increase to boot.

My line-up was Lister Storm, Falcon, Camaro, Jag, and Ford GT (the Gulf one).
I think it was good for 190 A-Spec Point starting on RH and pitting 4 times (Laps 7, 15, 23 and 31; RH all the time), but refueling just 1 time.

It was my first long race in OLR, so I guess I have to be more consistent.

If i had 2 more tries I maybe could have reached place 5. 3 penalties suck :crazy:

Looking forward to the next race. I hope Autumn Ring is not as bumpy as Trial Mountain.

While it can be frustrating during the race, I love situations like that b/c it really brings pit strategy into the game.

Yeah, it makes me feel like an F1 team boss watching the telemetry and gps positioning figures and trying to figure out when to pit!!! 👍 👍

It's a shame gas levels don't affect your time like they do in real life! :indiff: :crazy:

I did my time in 3 runs, which amazes me! My first two runs were to get a feel for the car on RM's and figure out how long my tires would last and try different combonations. RM's worked best for me, giving me 8 laps. Do the math and it was perfect!:)
 
Just call me MR consistancy, here are the two races I did:

First off I just assumed that the rear tyres would wear out faster so I started on RM/RH and of course the fronts went off first.
Pits: end lap 8, put on RH/RH; end lap 19, RH/RH; end lap 30, RH/RH and didnt refuel at all.
Time: 59'26.162
BL: 1'24.871

Switched to RM's all round for my second attempt in the hope that I would be fast enough to offset the extra pitstop.
Pits: end laps 8, 16, 24, 32 and didn't take any fuel
Time: 59'25.120
BL: 1'23.698

Had one spin in each run without penalty, both times just before the 1st tunnel, pushing too hard and getting a wheel on the grass. Pushed pretty hard on the second run just to make up all the time I needed.
Literally cost myself the race on the last corner. For the first time in either race I turned into the chicane too late, hit the ripple too hard and got thrown across the start finish straight, clipping the wall in the process. The whole incident cost me a couple tenths easy :nervous:
Oh well, nevermind.

Oh viper doesnt the starting grid count for anything in the race times? Starting from pole would surely net me .117 over the rest of the field right :rolleyes: J/K J/K

Once again grats to both winners and I hope I go close again :dopey:

Actually it does, but only marginally. If your driving is consistent, you'll notice that you always put down your fastest lap toward the end of the race when your tank is low.

My strategy was pretty simple, I ran RH/RH the whole race, pitting on laps 10, 20, and 30, with a splash of fuel at the last stop. All in all, this car seems to burn tires fairly evenly at Trial Mountain. I think my right-front may have lasted a bit longer if I had my pedals and could brake a bit more fluidly, but the ol' DS2 skills are returning slowly.

Yup, I am in Melbourne and what a lovely week it's been. It depends what side of town you are I suppose. I really doubt you would get one for less than 250$ though in a store from what I've seen. But I use a DS2. If I go to the shops this week I'll have a look around.

Do you have a local eBay here? The point of this exercise is to save the cost and hassle of shipping mine over from South Africa. $250 would be okay, but the best I've found is $299, that was at Harvey Norman's (I think) somewhere in Melbourne Central. I'm living downtown if that helps. It seems that in general all PlayStation stuff is more expensive here than back home.

I can survive using my DS2 while I'm here, but in GT4 it's a pain! I just don't have the fine control of the DFP and end up just hacking my way around the track (or that's how it feels). GT3 with the DS2 was much more playable IMO.

Anyway, thanks for replying, and please let me know what you find out at the shops this week 👍
 
Yep we have a local ebay its just ebay.com.au and I'm pretty sure it would be your best bet.
