JGTC S2 Round 3 Race + Results

I ran my first run tonight, and probably my last. Almost as perfect as can be.. except on lap 30, when my brother comes into my room, says "Nice Graphics, I'm guanna go play Zelda", and leaves. That was enough to throw off my concentration, and I ran into the wall in the long right double apex in the top right portion of the track(too lazy to look up turn #'s). A wonderful 10 seconds penalaty. I got lapped once, but accepted it, seeing as I had nothing for those stupid NSX's. Maybe this week I'll be able to drop a bit of weight. Also, has anyone else managed to make this race on a 2 stop strategy? I did, and I think it worked. :)

I've finished one race and it was quite dodgy with a few 10 second penalties. I'm going to attempt another race and hopefully it will be cleaner. This track is definitely not one of my favourites and i struggle to drive with anything other than RSS around it. Ah well i'll still give it another go.

Time Submitted. I had 2 penalties, one on lap 25 and the other on lap 33. They cost me about 7 seconds off my average time, so I figure I only lost 14 seconds in total. I should be alright. I finished 5th. I was up against:
Chevrolet Corvette C5R (6th)
Dodge Viper GTS-R Team Oreca (4th)
Pagani Zonda LM Race Car (3rd)
Nissan GT-R Concept LM Race Car (2nd)
BMW McLaren F1 GTR Race Car (1st)

I used the same pit strategy as Casio, 7, 14, 21 and 28. I was able to go with RM's up front and RS's in the back the whole way. It must be some kind of total time if you were able to beat that McLaren Casio. :nervous:

Any other GT500 drivers been able to win this race?

i was 5th also in my last run...

with almost the same lineup, just with a ford gt in 6th...

1 pemalty, i´ll give another go trying to get 4th or 3rd... same strategy, 7,14,21,28
and RM/RS

3rd run, result worst. can´t run with 3 pits, too slow with the combo of RH and RM...

i could be a 20 seconds better, but no time for that, submitted

don´t understand exactly why i got so far behind curtis last year´s time, i think he did one pit stop less, don´t know... i know he is great and he had -2% of weight, but still, i was very slow compared to that...

well, please guys, submit times so i can take some weight off!!!

I like this track so i submited my time :D
3 pits, 0 penalties, 2 possition - 1 guy was fast as hell...
I just diferent tyres during race but difference in lap time was small so i think that it wasnt to good decsion.. i could be probably about 15sek faster with different tyre combo ...
But in overal im satisfied with my time.

Time submitted.

I am really annoyed with the RX-8. Its tyre wear means that I have to run a harder tyre than everyone else while still running the same strategy.

For example: Casio says he pitted on laps 7, 14, 21 and 28 and used RM/RM for the whole race.

I started on RM/RM (to try and get ahead of the pack) and pitted with very red tyres on lap 6. After that, I could just get 7 laps from a set of hards (with them being very orange coming into the last corner).

So, I pitted on lap 6, 13, 20 and 27. That means for the majority of the race the RX-7 was on RM and getting 7 lap stints. And I was on RH but still only getting 7 lap stints.

The same probably applies to every other car in GT500. It seems that RM for every other car gets the same mileage as RH for my car.

Can everyone see my problem?

driving style determines tire wear as well... meaning you might need to stop pushing so hard

i got my Hard tires to last me 11-12 laps ~ by not squelin the tires and all

but guess what i just did~?~?~?~

RAN MY ****EN CAR OUTTA GAS B4 t2 on the final lap, 10 seconds ahead of first

I just gave your car a run. I thought that your tyre wear might have something to do with the fact that you are using a DFP, which I've heard gives greater tyre wear. But I don't think that's the problem.

I can't give more than 6 out of these using a DS2 either. Those front tyres have an awful wear rate, but the backs are actually quite good. Which throws away my other idea which is you had 20 more HP than my RX-7, and that could of contributed to it.

Your RX-8 is really nice for the first 5 laps though! It has a nice slight understeer to it, which I think is good 👍, just not for tyre wear 👎...

I have thought of that, and I was driving very carefully.

All I can suggest is that you try it and see if you can get more than 7 decent laps out of Hard front tyres.

By the way, that's a bummer about running out of fuel (and not for the first time, eh? ;) )

Sorry for the double post.

Yes, the RX-8 is the fastest car for any given set of tyres. So, if everyone was running on the same tyre it would be fastest (as you can see from qualifying).

But when it comes to the race, I need to be a lot faster than everyone else to counter the fact that I have to make more pitstops. That's not possible in this series because the cars have been made fairly equal in performance.

To make the RX-8 fast enough to be truly competitive in the races would mean that I would easily take pole at every round, which would be unfair too.

Anyway, let's see what the results bring. I know that I could maybe take 10 seconds off my time, but certainly no more than that.

Didn't get a chance to run this week and its looking unlikely that I will be able to compete in the rest of the series :(
Aww. Dang. I was looking foreward to duking it out with you for the rest of the season. Too bad.

First, let me apologize to my team mate Casio. I was doing some field training for the military all last week, so I didn't get a chance to give this race my full attention. I did get one run in, but I'm sure it wasn't great. I'll be able to devote all my attention to next weeks race and make it up to you.

My time is in.

It's all good mate. We all have more important things to do then play video games. Training for the military, is a pretty good thing to do, I'll be thanking you when the next world war breaks out! (Unless you're not on my team, in which case, you should play more games and exercise less :sly: )

I actually don't know when I'm going to get time to qualify this week, got my exams, then work all weekend (7am start :yuck: )

Finally! I've been out in an horse fair for the weekend and wasn't sure if I would be back on time for one more try. In the end, managed to take 11 secs from my last best time.

Had 2 out of fuel episodes. Laps 33 and 34.

Pit stops on laps 9, 18 and 26, always on RH/RM (Front/Rear). Managed to finish 2nd, 26 secs behind first.

Regularity payed for a reasonable result, but I think not a fast one.

Time sent.

Woohoo I have my DFP!

After an hour or so learning how to drive with a wheel again, I managed a couple of good runs. It's somewhat easier to avoid penalties with the DFP I find, I guess I just don't like mashing the car around the track.

The Nissan GT-R Concept is a bugger. Luckily he wasn't in the lineup for my final (and submitted) run. I was going along happily, penalty-free, until on lap 31 coming into the final turn, I see the Ford GT40 running wide, so I cut to the inside to lap him, except he lost the back-end at the last moment and slammed into my front-left quarter trying to correct, giving ME a freakin' penalty! I have a special stick reserved for the guy who wrote the AI scripts in GT4... ;)

I managed to run a 4-stop strategy on RM/RS, winning by about half a lap over the Fairlady Z. Time submitted, and I hope it's decent. Now that I've actually driven my car with the DFP she's pretty nice. Looking forward to the next round.

Good luck everyone!

 Whew, my time doest look so bad now that i read some of the other post first
Time sumitted - 2 freekin penalties to ruin a very good race, still hope its good enough for a podium - only time will tell :yuck:

Time submitted....had an awesome, steady race. However, I did have one penalty on lap 6 :(

I did it in 5 pit stops, on laps 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, and on lap 30 I put on RS/RS instead of RM/RS and was able to knock off 1-2 seconds a lap the last 4 laps!!! And no gas needed in my GT300 car!

For your your sake Lewie I hope you submitted 17 minutes ago.... :nervous:

I can only imagine what viper would do if his team-mate didn't submit by the deadline!

I would like to dedicate my race this week to the loss of Eddie Guerrero.
RIP LATINO HEAT

Congrats to all who submitted a time this week. :)

hOt6o4bOi takes the win in GT500 by 2 secs and villainpl in GT300 by a close to nothing 0.5 sec lead.
Casio & VTRacing are closing the podium in GT500 and Andge08 & Soyfu in GT300. 👍

Good job Lewie on the 4th place finish. 👍

I would like to dedicate my race to the Logitech Driving Force Pro :D Long live my ability to drive better with it!

Congrats to all the podium finishers...missed it by 8 seconds! Damn that GT40 and the penalty he gave me :( VTRacing, I dunno what you're complaining about, poor tire wear and all you still took a solid 3rd place!

I give up....

We are in the presence of the master, nice job hOtbOi. 👍 , and including running out of fuel

Amazingly close in GT300 again. 👍

And well done to Teledriel for taking the battle of the Asparadrinks!! :)

what happend to Eddie???

Found dead in his hotel room saturday morning 11/12. No words on the actual cause for the moment but no doubt all of his life abused catched up to him. Drugs + Alcohol + Roids + Pills = not long to live.

Christ this is so unfair to loose an athlete of this caliber. :guilty:

Yeah, can I join your 'I give up' club. I tried so hard this week, and I still couldn't win. He rubs it in by having more wieght than most of us as well.

Remember that Simpsons episode, where Homer becomes a stonecutter, but everyone is sick of looking up to him, so they make a 'No Homers' club.....

But seriously, how do you do it H.B? Is there some kind of mediation we should be doing or something?

Yeah this is one of the reasons I wanted to compete in GT300 again this season. No one can compete with hotboi. Respect, but it does get annoying :) And you play with the DS2 don't you? Just to rub it further in my face ;)
