JGTC S2 Round 4 Qualif + Results

eatsviper4lunch
Just ran in the RX-8...OMG that's just sick fast compare to my Motul! I think I'm getting raped like 10kph+ on the top end. :scared: No way I'm getting a decent result for this round.

Run it in race conditions. Same tyre wear problem as before, 10 laps maximum.

EDIT: Time submitted. Let's see how we go.

And that's why you're packing more hp than the rest of the field also, to gain those little sec and be in the game even by pitting once more. But I was talking just in pure speed here on a single lap, car is sooo neutral taking those curves is a real piece of cake! 👍 I don't see how you could loose the pole here. :)

Time submitted.

I tried running with wider gear ratio, but no appreciable difference with my Skyline, so I went back to my original setting. I think my time is respectable for this car, but we'll have to see how it all stacks up against the high-power monsters here.

For interests sake, would everyone mind posting their top speed (just before turn 2, not your setting, your actual speed reached on track)? Mine was 291kph

Good luck to everyone!

Once more?

Unfortunately, to account for one extra pitstop my car needs to be at least 1-2 seconds per lap faster than everyone else.

Even at the first round at Trial Mountain (when I had 501 hp rather than 490 hp) I could not make up the difference to the people who stopped fewer times.

Plus the pit lane here at HSR is so long, the person who pits least will win.

time submitted, pretty normal.

lets just wait for laguna...

i´ll try to save more tires in this race...

Gratz also VTR .. Team Poles 👍

Gratz to other podiums also. Bad part is, I will only get one day to run the race, if Eats waits till tomorrow to post. Going out of town my Wend evening to Sunday night. So Tuesday better be a good run for me. Always seem to end up a little short to a top 3 finish this series in the race.

I will check today on the case with the full-timer not submitting, if it's your second time a sanction will follow. Not only will it touch you but the entire team also. Sucks for me having to do stuff like that. :grumpy:

wow thats a pleasant suprise :dopey:

hopefully i can make my tires last a long time come race day, seems to be the way to go here.....too bad you cant use that cut in to actually pit :sly:

good luck to all!

yeah, i must find a way to score some points... championship is at stake, but boy is that skyline bad or what in fast tracks?

worst case scenario i´ll have a pretty light car for laguna...

Well, there is what I get for slacking off because of a boring track! Damn....... Maybe I'll get rid of this weight though, and be fast for Laguna. I don't think the Celica stood a chance at Tokyo or HSR, seeing that it has 278 HP, the lowest of all the cars. On more closed tracks though, it will be faster. Thank god for Laguna - I hope.

Yeah the worst part is I'm a rotary fan, I drive one IRL, and here I have to root against you guys :(

Then again I like Skylines too, just wish mine was a bit faster :D

There's a reason why rotaries have been banned in most professional racing categories :)

No joke, Teledriel looks to dominate way too much with the Amemiya...perhaps I should underpower his ride. 💡 Maybe let's say a good 10 hp. :sly:

Because their drivers are so talented, rich and handsome?

Actually, looking at the results. The rotaries are looking quite good.

Round 4 Qual: 1st and 2nd in GT500, 1st in GT300,
Round 3 Race: 2nd and 3rd in GT500,
Round 3 Qual: 1st and 2nd in GT500,
Round 2 Race: 3rd in GT500,
Round 2 Qual: 2nd and 4th in GT500, 4th in GT300
Round 1 Race: 3rd in GT500, 3rd in GT300
Round 1 Qual: 1st in GT500, 4th in GT300

So a rotary has finished on the podium in at least one division, In EVERY qualifying and race!

Now with a quick add up of manufacters points. (G500 and GT300, Up to round 3 Race)

Toyota: 135
Mazda (including RE): 99
Nissan: 84
Honda: 69

Yeah, and that's 10 Toyotas to 4 Mazdas! So I'd say the Mazdas have the lead by a large margin. The RE is good, but not so dominant in GT300, compared to this season's new entrants in GT500 (the RX-7 and RX-8). Interestingly, there are only 3 Nissans, although one is driven by hotboi so I guess that one counts as around 3 ;)

Ok, I will say this, and Eats, anyone from last series, and anyone browsing that sort of know me and driving, can sort of vouce for this. Last season in the Honda S2K, I struggled in the JGTC. But I not sure if it was the car or my driving. I seem to do ok on qualifing this season, but seem to end up short in the actual race. But so far this season, all but one race have I beat the AI's and so far, (knock on wood) I have not turned in a +1 Lap time, unlike last season where I did repeatly.

I have gotten alot better the past month or 2 cause been driving more and more. So maybe that where part of it is. I really didn't see me being this much of a contender, really.

10 less HP .. ?!?!?! :nervous: UGH. Just wait till the weight comes off. :sly:

I'm wondering if maybe less power would actually help you in the long run. I've heard lots of complains about the rear tire wear of the RE RX7. It would make sense that you would get good qualifying times, where there's no tire wear, but then get poor race results because of the exessive wear.

With less power (acceleration) you might be able to focus more on consistently smooth cornering to keep up momentum (rather than the "turn and burn" effect of cars with wicked acceleration). The combination of less power and smoother cornering should make the rear tires last longer.

If you end up being slower with less power, then you'll qualify for a weight reduction which, I think, will make for a more balanced car.

Actually the RE burns front tires a lot faster than rears. I drove it last season.

With RH / RM set up, they wear about even in every race I have done so far this season.

@Zera, is the HP same this season as last? I know I have had alot of weight taken off from first 3 races since I seem to just miss podiums, and that is a change from last season on how the weight was done. Not complaining, but just tossing suggestions out there of some reasons.

Then again, I could be alot better adapted to the RE than the S2K I had last season, as stated before.

Yeah the power is the same as last season, 306bhp. I never have time to run comparitive tests on the cars, so I don't know how the RE and S2000 stack up, but IIRC the S2000 is a bit squirrelly. The RE is on rails, very neutral handling, an awesome car to drive, but a bit underpowered. The trick to doing well in the RE I think is keeping a tight, consistent line throughout the race, learning where you can make up time in the corners over the more powerful cars that don't have the handling of the RE.

By comparison, my Skyline this season is still a bit underpowered compared to the rest of the GT500 field, but doesn't have the superior handling of the RE. A bit too much understeer that I'd love to dial out...if only we could setup the cars. So enjoy the RE, it nearly took the GT300 title last season (damn you DRIVEN -USA- ;) )!

This is probably a stupid question, but I honestly can't remember how Family Cup works (shows you how long since I've had time to play GT Mode). You can't set # of laps right? It would be great if we could run the JGTC in GT Mode with full car setup!

Sadly, it's true. Family Cup is always stuck at just 2 laps.

But I'm thinking maybe we could use the Formula GT series in the Extreme Hall. 60 laps at Tokyo 246! :)

No car or tire restrictions. Just get a Sport license and you can enter any old POS car!

Yeah, except you don't have an AI slider in the preset races. Then you end up the problem I have now, which is trying to find a car for GTWC that's competitive without being a cakewalk...Fairlady Z Race Car too slow...Zonda likes to do donuts, even if you don't want to...Minolta too easy...p**ses me off ;)
