*NEW RULES* : Deadline is now at 9:00PM EST to ensure the results will go up on the very same day.

*NEW RULES* : For S2 RSH and RSS tires are banned for both Qualification & Race. The tire set you decide to qualify with will be the same you'll start the race with. A combination of harder and softer compound can be made (RM-RH, RM-RS etc). Doing this you'll not only have to worry about your qualification time but also to prepare a race/pit strategy for the race. Qualification is still worth 3-2-1pt for the top 3 with no weight penalty like S1.

Hmm. Interesting new rules. This is deffinility going to stir things up a bit., I almost wish I still had the Celica, since I have that thing down to an art.

Looks fun though. I guess I'll start tonight. Good luck everyone, cause judging from the entry list, this season really is going to be WAR JGTC!!!!

When will we know how many laps in the race? Could make a difference in the tire compound selection...

Sorry if it's been discussed before...

# of laps posted on friday in the race thread

Hint hint, check the previous season's thread.
Hint hint, based on the qualif time you can calculate the # of laps in the race pretty close.

The smarter ones will often know the amount of laps before friday.

This is the list of people I'm expecting a replay file from for each qualif. And yes I will bug you and PM you if I don't receive it.

Also, it would be great if you could include in your signature your racing class, the car you drive, your team name etc... just so we can situate ourselves easily. Thanks. :)

almost perfect schedule... where´s autumn ring???

i know, i´m the only one that likes...

about round one, its a great round for curtis and dan (if he enters) judging by their challenge times in this track... lets see what happens... WAR JGTC!!!

Sweet. I'll get right down to it! Well, after I check S1's thread to try and figure out how many laps will be run... :) I haven't been on Midfield for a loooooong time, so we'll see how that works out. Can't wait! Thanks for doing all this EV4L!

Awww, no Apricot Hill... :( And I guess it's time I learn Fuji, eh?

Yeah in the final tracks I had also Apricot Hill and Seattle but those two went out. Since we ran Apricot last season and I really wanted to enter Deep Forest, and with the return of Grand Valley I had no choice. :guilty: Thrust me I love Apricot, hell I won there last season!

Hmm interesting, should shake things up a bit, makes qualifying a bit more interesting, though no longer a benchmark for pace. Still, I like it :)

When you say, "...with no weight penalty like S1", I assume you mean no penalty will be given for poor qualy performance, and not that our current weight penalty does not apply during qualy? If the latter, then I've missed something :odd:

Umm, I possess a replay device, but it very seldom works (I think I got a bad one or something). Can I be removed from this list? I really don't want to have to battle with this crappy thing every week to try and get my replay to you.

Yeah I mean you won't get any weight penalty for getting top 3 or anything, even finishing last. Only the race results get's you performance penalty just like before.

Well try to battle 5 mins, if it doesn't work just throw it out. Anyway in the first place this AR Max/Max drive thing must have the worst file system I have ever seen in a console device!!!

Yeah, tell me about it. I think the hardware is shocking too, they must use really cheap memory sticks.

Cool, well I'll try to get it to you each week, we may get lucky once in a while :) Just wanted to make sure I won't get penalized if I don't submit it.

No penalty at all, it's just that each round I'll make a compilation video of all the qualification replays I received. :) I'll join all the runs in one video file starting from the slowest one and moving up until the pole. That way you can exactly see while moving up where the mistakes were made before, where the driver improved to save some time. 👍 To learn that's really a great thing to watch.

Even the PAL replays?

I like the new tyre rules. 👍

Not so sure about the fact that, according to your schedule in the official thread, there is no weekend-time set aside for qualifying. Given that tyre choice in qualifying may have a big influence on initial speed in the race, shouldn't we give people the opportunity to know their weights for the next round's qualifying when they are able to do some testing ie, the weekend?

Two weekends for the race and none for qualifying seems a little strange.

But we'll see how it works out.

Me. :)

MAKE YOUR CALENDAR FOR THE SEASON :

1. MOST LIKED, 10- LEAST LIKED)

1- Côte d'Azur (3)

2- Twin Ring Motegi Super Speedway (4)

3- Grand Valley Speedway (2)

4- Laguna Seca Raceway (9)

5- Suzuka Circuit (5)

6- Suzuka Circuit West Course (1)

7- Fuji Speedway 2005 (6)

8- Twin Ring Motegi Road Course (7)

9- Apricot Hill Raceway (8)

10- Tokyo Route 246 (perhaps a backup location)

The number in parentheses is the order I'd want them to appear. Though, I've since discovered why no one ever runs on Suzuka West (the pitlane is closed! wtf?!).

I don't totally catch this : shouldn't we give people the opportunity to know their weights for the next round's qualifying

Yeah, who voted for that??

Come on, own up. :D

It's hard, it's in. :D

But Apricot is soooooo much better! Screw hard! If you want that, let's do the 'ring... I'd much prefer that over Fuji... :sly:

Anywho, I've my strategy allllllll figgerd out... Now I get to whittle down the thousandths on my qualifier lap! I'm having tons of fun doing this. It's complex enough to keep my mind working and NOT just concentrating on getting the perfect laps! I love it!!! 👍

like the tire rule

in a way it seems like the Champ car Tires, as they have the Optional Softer "red walled" tires

Ack! Damn I didn't notice the lack of a weekend for qualy! Umm...I hate to be a pain, but any chance we can revert to last season's format on this (Monday-Sunday for both qualy and race)? The problem is, with work and that annoying RL thing I often only get time to play on the weekends :(

Basically I mean what Zeratul is saying. There are some drivers who only have the chance to play on the weekend. Having qualifying running from Monday to Friday and then the race running from Saturday through to Sunday the following week means that some folks will have very limited qualifying time. In a way that's good, but with the new tyre rule requiring some testing at each track to come up with a good strategy it makes it hard for people to do it properly.

I foresee a number of drivers saying, "I don't have time to test tyres and set a qualifying time by Friday. Screw it, I won't submit my qual lap and I'll just start on hards or mediums for the race. No loss, I wouldn't get pole anyway."

That creates a lot more heartache for you, because you then have to get angry at people for not submitting (assuming they're full-time, of course).

The best I can do is Saturday 9:00PM EST deadline for qualif.

If you want to know why, here's why. I want to have the time to capture the videos from the replays before we're too deep into the race week so people can visualize the replays of the faster drivers and improve on their driving in the race by getting couple of tips from the videos. For me Sunday (first day of the race week) would be perfect to work on that.

what is the time frame for this race? because i won't be home this saturday, sunday or monday...

and if qualifying stops on saturday, i hope we have more than just sunday to do the race, otherwise i will be unable to compete this week

eatsviper4lunch
The best I can do is Saturday 9:00PM EST deadline for qualif.

So if you go with Saturday nine pm for qualifying deadline, will you be sticking with posting the race thread on Friday? Seems that would solve the unknown of pit/tire strategy being a function of race length.
