JGTC S3 Round 1 Qualif + Results

Unfortunately I've already used up my allotted time for this qualification, so I'll have to submit what I've got. Luckily, I was running RS tyres rather than anything harder, but I'm unlikely to see any points for this round.

And you know what, I don't really care. :)

I'm in love with my new car, it's so nice to drive something that has a bit of torque. Something you don't have to rev the nuts off to get it moving. Something that has more handling traits than just grip or understeer.

I'll warrant the RX-8 is faster, but I'm having a lot more fun now.

Time submitted very shortly. Good luck everyone. 👍

Well then... It took me a few laps to get used to the RSS tires and finally beat my RS tire'd ghost... But I've done it. There are still possibly a few hundreths/thousandths in it for me if I can do everything perfectly, maybe I can find another line somewhere... Having fun though!!!
How you liking the Altezza man? I drove it last season and loved it...sorta wish I'd have taken it again this year, but I'm loving my RX7 so far!! A bit of oversteer, but that suits my driving style. If I can just find the proper line and braking point for turn 1, It's always been my weak part of Midfield.

Hey, just a quick message to the new drivers in this series (especially those from the WRS).

Remember to include your split times with your lap submission. Times submitted without splits won't be accepted.

It's a Supra... always fun!!!!

I need a PAL driver to take care of the replays on that side. Someone who has some spare time in between Friday night and Saturday afternoon or so. Must be someone always on time with the verifications. If interested please contact me. Thanks.

submitted already:crazy:

easter coming up, and i´ll be out of town until monday, so that was it for me. only one session, but thank god it was an easy track like midfield. you don´t need a lot of time to get a good time in this one. i liked the lap. maybe a half second there, but hopefully will be good for a bonus point:tup:

I'm loving it! I bet I'd love some other cars too, but it's all good. It goes through front tires pretty fast, even with two stage harder tires on the front, it eats the fronts first!!! RH/RS... It's all good. One of the reasons I picked it was because I could get around the 'Ring two laps without having to slow down too much because my tires were worn out at the end. I couldn't say the same for the MRS, which wore down it's tires at the same speed. The MRS was more picky too, I bet it's faster in quite a few situations, but I wanted something that was relatively easy to get quick laps in, and fast, and consistent. Between the two, the 'tezza did a much better job, including because it doesn't have any turbo lag. To be as fast as I possibly can in the MRS, I'd have to get back on the gas before I take off the brake for almost every situation, and I don't want to deal with that right now. I don't know how much time I'll have to do these qualifications and races(currently it appears I have a lot of time though...), so I wanted something easy(er) to drive. Also, I didn't have the Wedsport unlocked yet, and I was saving the S2000 for HondaRacer, but he still didn't get to use it. Oh well!

Yeah, I know, I know, but I hate not having my entire replay!! That's basically the reason for the bargain I proposed...

Grr..

Yo Shiggy, whatcha mean about not having your entire replay? I did one race earlier and it saved the replay... I think it saved all the laps, but I'm not 100% sure. I think I got all of my 'Ring race saved too... Or are you just talking about uploading the replays to this site? We're emailing them, so that part doesn't matter I think.

Thanks for the heads up! I read that before, but who knows if I actually remembered it...

Thats it? :sly:
What? I thought that was pretty fast...

OMG it's back! Here we go guys the moment you've all been waiting for...

10 secs penalty on the race time for full-timers not submitting on qualification!

Hey, since there's no discussion of sector times in this thread, would it be appropriate for me to make another thread where we can discuss this? Or is it specifically not legal to talk about times before the conclusion of qualifying?

You could perhaps go on your own and open a thread to do so and see what happens next. For real, times discussions for JGTC are made outside of GTP. :)

Hehehehe, nah nah nah nah nah nah! All you full-timers better get to being full time racers!!!

Yep, watch out for that one full-timers. Had I not gotten my days mixed up due to public holidays back home...had I actually submitted my qualy time, ANY time, for the final round of the test season, I would've taken the championship. As it was, my deserving colleague DRIVEN -USA- took the overall win by 2 points, the result of an 8 second faster race time than me.

Just some advice, use it, don't use it :sly:

I thought we weren't allowed to discuss splits/times/etc. AT ALL? You mean we can PM/email this?

I mean I know some are talking about times on msn and stuff....I can't stop that. Here on GTP (in the qualif & race threads) it's banned until results are posted.

From your participation I see so far you could of been full-time, what holded you back?
It sounded like a big deal, and I didn't want to have ANY situation where I couldn't be all there for my teammate. I probably could be full-time, but I wanted the option to not HAVE to be here the whole time. Maybe S3 though... But by then, I might not have as much free time. I just lost one of my two jobs though, so recently I've had more time than usual.

I mean that even though it "saves", you only get about 40 minutes. On the 'Ring I think it's about 5 laps or so until it runs out of memory. You can't "verify" a clean race past the save stop. Neither can you verify a "fastest lap" after the save spot either, let alone know what it was unless you pause the race just before the finish and write it down.

A bummer, but I guess you could always run the PS2 through a VCR and record the race that way.

BTW, I'm pretty much close to the limit for qual. Took off 2.5" seconds from my RM/RH lap. Interesting to compare this lap to the fastest Woodone laps from the preseason challenge where it was down by 1% to what's eligible now. Should be interesting to see if Dan and Curtis were giving it their all for that challenge... :scared:

...which is exactly what I do. You actually have time to watch your entire race replay? Damn, I wish :(

1'09.620...geez that's slow with a CAPITAL S :sly:
I call your bluff, n00b!

Acutally, I'm not sure what is fast anymore. Guess I'll just have to wait and see. And that doesn't mean I'm giving up, cause I'm going to put about 1 or 2 hours in after school.

And yeah, that is pretty slow. But are we talking tenths slow or seconds slow? I hope not seconds, cause that would be a real kick in the nuts!
