JGTC S3 Round 2 Qualif + Results

But there is something really special about ANZAC day, and it's something that I think sums up Australia perfectly
[OT] What's that, drinking a lot and gambling?

*ducks for cover*

I never thought that a little more weight added to the standard can change the handling of the car so much. It's not so easy track and I don't really like it,there are some places where the surface is slippery, got some tricky corners,I can say there is a little piece from everything.Easy to miss something and then hard to correct the fail. Will be an interesting qualifying session.Keep on trying hard.

Hey dudes, just so you know I will be competing in the rest of the seaso as a part time driver :) Im about to submit my Qualy time now, im about 4 tenths off the lap I think I can ultimately achieve but this track is getting under my skin lol

So here I am at the end of the front straight on Thunderhill Raceway at about, oh, a buck-ten braking into the fast uphill sweeper that I usually take at 95...

My power steering belt snaps and I head straight off the far side into the dirt and weeds!!! No damage, burned off speed on the brakes, and kept the car straight and shiny side up but what a pucker moment! My student took it quite well, but I may need to shampoo the seat.

How come things like this don't happen in the game? :^)

Check out http://www.thunderhill.com for track info.

Beautiful day, temp in the 80s, nice breeze, plenty of sun... Needless to say I didn't spend any time on the qual. Maybe more tomorrow...

40,000 feet!! You need oxygen from that height, no? And how cold is it up that high? How long a free fall?

Too cool!

Hmph, my new car doesn't seem to like this track the way the Pennzoil Zexel did. She's a bit skittish on this surface in the heavy braking zones. Struggling to find my rhythm.

well, I've got a couple in the bank for the q run, but I'd like a bit quicker time. I know, who wouldn't :sly: Being a noob, I was starteled by how much a 1% change in weight changed things :nervous: During my testing I figured it would be a 30 lapper, and I'm having a huge problem getting under the hour :ouch: Seems like I'm chewing dust and sucking exhaust this week :grumpy:

and Scott....
yes on the O'2
Yes it's freezing, actualy colder than 32
est. freefall - 38 to 39k before popping chute
unless we are going for a long glide, then we pop around 20k

Submitted my time to Eats!

Managed to beat my very helpfull partner's replay ghost by 1.2 seconds. But seeing as neither of us likes the track and he only did a few laps to get it??????

Also it took my at least 30 laps to get my time, so pretty much all I feel i will get apart from a few thou's better.

Neil

Time submitted.

I think there was about 2 tenths to be found, but I just couldn't hook it all up. Round 1 provided no insight into my car's relative performance, only mild confusion, and I still have no idea where I'm stacking up. :nervous:

Good luck everyone!

Time submitted. Being ill this week is my excuse for my pityful performance. Like Casio says "I Hate This Track!!!

My Avatar is my next restore project, it's gonna tow my Chevelle to shows.

I think the "I hate this track" attitude is the norm here. I HATE THIS TRACK TOO!

This track's like a 50 yr old white guy, covered in KY jelly......

Slippery as hell, and has no rhythm! :D

No offense Drew!

Neil

no rhythm?
lol

this track is major rhythm momentum track
one of the best, next to Suzuka

jeeeze guys, learn to apreciate good tracks

anyways pOle has been shatter'd

Time submitted. Yeah, pOle somewhat broken, but maybe with some tweezers, magnifying glasses, and some glue, you just MIGHT be able to put it back together...

heh...

p.s. Why no love for the track!? Hardest corner(s) is the last chicane, which I can see as being tough with DS2. I lost about a half a tenth there on my best lap... Not too bad on the DFP and pedals. The first corner is a bit of a challenge to diamond off, but otherwise not offensive at all! Braking indicators are about as tough to find as on Fuji 2005 though. Good thing there's pavement markings to look for...

A track or car are like women, some ya love and some ya just don't care for. It would be pretty boring if we all liked the same track and car....we'd be doing the same race over and over:) ,again like a woman! Huumm, women references, it's obviously been too long for me, where's my wife, I've learned to appreciate her at least.

 tapping foot :irked: 50 yr. old white guy huh Neil ? :D and ky has it's uses  speaking of which, love the new avitar there Curtis :p
 as one of my favorite sayings goes "I'm old, not dead"

and yeah, the pole record is gone in 300... could've hit more if I'd learn to use an analyizer or get the right top speed setting before submitting :dunce: :banghead:

Don't you use the marker boards alongside the track (at every corner entry)?

I must admit, the track isn't as hard as I thought it was at first. Still can't get the 5th corner (just after T1) right 100% of the time, nor the last right B4 the final chicane.
But hell, a couple of hundred laps will hopefully cure that!

It has grown on me somewhat, still no Apricot Hill, Deep Forest or Seattle. Have to admit(also) that the track that I must work hard on is gonna be Grand Valley, PD changed it too much IMO.

Have broken last year's pole lap too, but maybe a more realistic description would be a greenstick-fracture! :indiff:

Spent too much time in the week running the WRS race (lots of fun) so will have to take my medicine in quali results.

Nah! Ky is a b;tch to get out of the sheets, and I only feel over 50 when my knees are playing up like they are at the minute.:ouch:

Bloody painkiller's the doc has prescribed don't do jack-sh;t! Limits my seat-time to about 20 mins a shot. Lucky the game can be paused at the pit-stops init?

Yeah, I know that they're there, but they're too far off the track I guess or maybe it's the lighting. I've never really used them here. Mostly the road markings (tire marks etc...).

But, now that you mention it, I'll probably go back and say "oh, yeah, those do work...".

:ouch: 💡

Time submitted... didn't have much time to qualify this week, but I shouldn't be too bad because of my car's recent weight loss. ;)

So how'd everyone do? I'll be gone when the results get posted, so I was just wondering in advance...

I didn't have nearly as much time this week as I'd have liked, and got quite pissed when I kept losing concentration in my half an hour stint before submission deadline. These past couple of weeks have been insane for me. Hopefully things will settle down this coming week, we'll see.

I managed a 1'48.277 in my weight reduced Altezza after about an hour, hour and a half. If I didn't keep losing concentration today with all the crap that's going on, I'd relatively easily be .3 faster. Quite pissed actually, but that's how it goes. *sigh*
