Yes, yes, Nuvo hates other types of racing where we actually talk about what we're doing... The thing I like about all of that though, is that we can USE the talking, and times discussion to narrow down where we're losing time, and LEARN how to drive the track better, thus improving our skills.

Here at JGTC, it's all on your own for strategy and skill. Generally speaking anyway. So, think of JGTC as more of a by yourself effort, compared to other series around GTP where it's more of a collaboration to make everyone faster, as well as still having fun. 👍

As for the competition, I think this is going to be a "bumpy" race...

Well, I think it is the right way to leave this racing serie so clean as it is NOW.Not discussing anything about the times untill the qualifying or the main race isn't over.
Isn't it exciting where you will finish?Everybody stay at the PC's at night to wait the results...
And naturally it will not become a "beat my time"-competition,as Nuvolari said.
I hope this this thing won't change in the future,here in JGTC.I raced some other competition in Hungary.Those were time trials and lasts for a week:one track,one car,same(?) settings.Until we saw each others time,the best times changed just before the deadline with a 0.050 sec or less...I can say it was a little bit suspicious.:confused:
I remember a race when I lost,I was 2nd,3rd and finally finished 7th place and this happened within 3 hours?!:odd:

While hotboi makes a point that in RL racing you would be able to see other drivers' sector times, AND final laptimes, I don't think it flies in an honor-system, online racing series like this one. This isn't the WRS, which is a no-commitment, fun, competitive driving school. This is competition (still fun of course :) ), and it has been known to get very serious in previous seasons. Not discussing times minimizes peoples' ability to cheat, and maximizes EV4Ls time toward administering the series AND racing rather than requiring and watching everyone's replays. I'm not accusing anyone, I think we're all honest racers here, but human nature and temptation get the better of all of us sometimes.

GTXDriver makes a good point too, the excitement wouldn't be as high before results posting if we already knew what to expect.

I would recommend everyone just follows the rules and regs around the JGTC for a bit before suggesting all these changes. So far it has proven to be an awesome series, and I have never heard a driver say otherwise...that says a lot. Its uniqueness is its strength (okay that sounded like a slogan for duct tape :lol: )

Ditto from me... Also, with all the different cars and variable weights and power, the splits and discussion wouldn't be as relevant as if we were all driving the same car prepared to the same level.

Speaking of which, I noticed that I had qualified this week on +7% with what I thought was a great lap (I was satisfied) when I realized that I only needed to be carrying +6%. Well, gave it another go and lo and behold I shaved off another 0.45!! AMAZING!! I don't know how much of it was the reduction of 11 kg and how much of it was learning the track in the extra hour of driving.

Oh well, hope it's goon enough for some points...

By the way Eats, you never told us what you got for your birthday.

Maybe a driving cockpit so you can heat up the new DFP?
 
Most of all I only got a little money and couple of MMA dvd's, plus I bought myself couple more MMA dvd's on top with the money. :) I've never been a gift receiving person, in fact I tell people not to give anything. To me friendship is worth much more than a little gift on your birthday. I prefer to give than receive. I just hate the double faced people sending or giving gifts but in reality you never saw them the entire year, then on that one day they act like you're the most important thing in their life....god go away and take your lame gift back. :lol:

Yeah eats, go to bobearlracing.com , he's a retired professional race car driver, won most the big races in his day. He makes a VRC (virtual reality cockpit) that he designed to have you sitting as you would in a formula car. It's very well made, easy to store and adjustable to fit anyone. I've got a second one on order with him now, the first one I bought 2 years ago and has held up perfectly, I just want two of them. Bob's in California and gives very personal attention to every sale, give his page a look.
 
you know, I've been looking at that website for awhile there Andy. I've got a playseat cockpit. One thing that I really like about the cockpit you have there bro is the pedal positons. The playseat has more of a right angle than I like. I may still buy your set-up, but it'll be down the road a bit.

I bought mine through eBay and it's some of the best money I've ever spent. It's well built, adjustable, easy to move/store. For me, it's perfect.

Here, you can see mine in the vertical storage position next to my TV...

Here's my setup. Disassembles in a minute and goes beside the entertainment center. Very adjustable and solid as a rock. Comfy for hours on end! :^)








Built it myself and don't plan on making more but I may make some (though out of steel tube stock welded and pinned or something instead of the channel alum) if there's enough interest...

I'm ready to go in that 300$ range, looking at the VRC and Playseat. Are there any other alternatives you guys know in that price range? The more to choose from the better. :)

I'd be glad to post a photo of my cockpit but I can't figure out how to get the .jpeg file small enough even using the crummiest resolution on my camera.

Anyway, it's similar to Shig's except it's a bit more upright and made of 3/4" plywood, screwed and glued. The floor plate is large enough that my folding lawn chair sits on it and holds it firmly on the floor. It has a vertical strut that's triangulated, with a plate on top where the wheel console clamps; basically a dedicated table with a very small top.

It probably took me an hour to make in the woodshop and there's really not much to it. I am a welder and I thought about gas welding it up out of square steel tube, but after I did a prototype and it worked so well, I just stuck with it. I now have two, one for the rare time when I get a guest who wants to drive.

Very simple really; of course I have a 28" set dedicated to GT4 so I don't have to store the thing. It just sits there, waiting..........

street circuits are my forte', as ive learned from the champ car pro's ( onboard footage )

i set an amazing lap, should be pOle
 
had quicker sectors in qualifying than on the lap i submitted but havent managed many clean laps...

Oh man, I think I used to have that thing! Or my cousin did and I played it one day! IT WAS SOOOOO FREAKING AWESOME!!! I'd love to have one of those even now. Seriously, that thing was the coolest thing out there back in the day.

And now, a picture from my current fastest qualifying lap for this week... I didn't even know there was a curb here! So, is it still clean if we hit the curb but not the wall? Lol, I didn't hit either, but it might come up in someone else's lap.


I hope to squeeze some more time out of it tomorrow before deadline... 👍
 
I think that curb is like Opera Paris. You hit it you lose speed, and therefore dirty. I came really close there on my fast lap as well! I had to watch a few times and triple check my analyzer to make sure nothing fishy went on there...

Oh man, time keeps falling off everywhere, this is INSANE! I need someone to confirm my cleanliness if possible... I'm 99.99% sure it's clean, but some extra reassurance would be good before submission. Thanks!

ok, time sent... it'll be interesting to see just how far back I am this week :nervous:

Ricardo, that's the cockpit that I have. I've since bought some foam padding to bolster the seat more to my liking. The adjustments may take a few attempts to find the right positions. Make sure you shake the frame while tightening the knobs, takes the slop out.... a small piece of rubbery stuff under the pedals to keep it from sliding around.

Could have taken .1 or .2 from my time, but I have no spare time to do it. Anyway, already gave it a lot of time. Around 100-150 laps trying to get clean laps.; unlucky, most of the times.

This is for sure going to be an interesting race, with those walls always looking to us and calling for our mistakes.

But I'm sure it will be fun. Monaco always is....

Total abortion for me, my usual crappy skills with the DS2 are worsened by this track's need for subtle and smooth throttle, brake, and steering control...oh well should be with my DFP by race day.
