JGTC S3 Round 3 Race + Results

Casio
Submitting my time. Was a pretty good race, except for the very last corner, on the very last lap where I had a spin on redish tyres and maybe lost 7-8 seconds. I don't think I'll have another chance to run so unfortunately it will have to do.

Had an AI car spin me into the entry of the first corner (named after some french guy 'Sainte Devote') by pushing onto the right-rear into the corner, and then backing off, causing me to spin to the left. BUGGER!

lost 5-7 seconds in that spin, so I know where you are coming from partner!
(BUT I RE-STARTED AND DIDN'T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN)

Given MY committment to the race, SUCK IT UP!

Race again, BE A MAN, my son!

That's 7-8 seconds that matter!

Had you going there, didn't I?

I'll carry you this week, you ain't heavy, you're my brother
Do what you have to do Brad! After all it's only a game!

Neil;)

ahhh the compassion Neil :sly:
I've run 2 so far, getting ready to move :grumpy:
knocked 40 seconds off the first run after changing pits, and still too slow :ouch:
Still running with the penalty - getting into first before the 1st lap - just having trouble finding the balance between tire wear and speed :indiff:
At least my lack of a p means that I won't upset him :dopey:
will try and get another one done before the deadline and pray it's quicker.

Just sent eats my time...not about to be late again...10 friggin seconds penalty, that really blows my chance this week. It's only a game, It's only a game...It's only a game...It's..................

That'll learn ya?! :)

Well, finally had one run last night. Strategy worked well, but I started the race off less than optimally...

I was running opening lap practices, and had a bad one, messed up my passing opportunities, but fell into a rhythm. First pit stop happens and I say "what the heck"!

Ran the distance and feel okay about it as a banker run, but I know I can probably trim 20 seconds if not more. I'll possibly try again tonight.

At least I have SOMETHING to submit...

-SHig

p.s. I was practicing Grand Valley qualifying... Now THAT'S fun! I could lap there all day...

just completed my race
1 race only, with the speed limiter "on"

i did 20 minutes of tire testing, i've found that just testing the Mediums should give you a good idea for the weekend

-2 Softs
0 Mediums
+2 Hards

with about a 2 second difference in lap times for each set

AI was on +10, but i got hella lucky with their pit sequences
~ had a really good battle with the Skyline GT-R for a good 2 laps

3 stopper worked perfectly for me

wonder if i can win this week 👍

I hate timezones. It's 45 minutes past 9pm, May 21st here. And I still have to wait a day for the deadline to pass for some of you guys.

On the plus, it's exactly 1 month to my 18th birthday. Just letting you guys know so you can start saving :sly:

Go to bed Neil :)

Nice :ouch: nothing like waking up and seeing that Scott - :grumpy:
Pong wasn't even out when I was that young.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :( :( :(

After all my efforts to compete round after round all over the world, I have at last been done in by a European hotel!

I have my PS2 and my wheel. I have a TV in my room with a SCART input. I have now bought a SCART adapter. Might help if the input worked though :( I've tried everything short of taking the set apart. The hotel's technical staff are all off for the weekend and I'm ready to toss this TV out the window. I'm getting another set on Tuesday with S/Video inputs, but that'll be too late to submit :(

So (and I can't believe I'm typing this) for the first time in my JGTC career, it is with great regret that I must announce I will be unable to submit a time this week. There goes any shot at the championship I suppose, but I also voted for this track! I was so looking forward to competing here!

*sigh*

Good luck to everyone. I'll be watching from the pitlane *sobs*

Mate, knock on the next-door room, ask em if they mind just swapping the tv's over. If they are just watching TV, why wouldn't they, if you ask nicely of course!

Think sideways my friend!

It's worth a try.....

OR find an open games store and buy an RF adaptor, the ones for the PS1 work too!

The problem is that the standard TVs they give out have SCART inputs but the "hotel remote" doesn't have a way to switch to the AV channel, and neither does the TV, so knocking next door won't help. I need the LCD with S/Video inputs they gave me last time, but I can't get one until Tuesday.

The RF adapter idea isn't bad, except for the fact that everything in Switzerland is closed on a Sunday :(

Thanks for the suggestions though

Hey! I'm nearly TWICE as old as Casio (Brad). Though I DID have a Pong game... And Atari 2600, Atari 5200, NES, SNES, PS1, etc...

Try channel 0 (zero) and below. It worked for me once in an hotel....

Or if you travel and tote around a notebook computer, you could get a video input card for it and always have an emergency monitor if needed.

I'll be in Japan next week so I'm doing some qualifying practice in NOW so I can get a whirlwind DFP session in before leaving. Proabably take my PS2 so I can figure out race strategy in my spare time, but I'm too coordinationally challenged to do quals or races without my trusty Logitec. I'll be back in time to race on the DFP though!

Later,

Regarding travel and other limitations during the season...

Has there ever been discussion of having one "guest driver" race during the season? This would allow somebody the opportunity to still score points if they run into a situation that prohibits them from running a race.

Say Curtis can't do a race during his whirlwind adventure in France upholding the honor of GTP, can he let Jerome run his race that week (with all penalty weights and power reductions in place of course...)?

Just wondering...

Scott, don't worry about it. When you get to J.R.'s age, confusion is common.;)

He even thinks that Drew and I are youngsters!

Neil

p.s.
Oh and nice idea, may be worth a PM to Eats.

'Tis a sad thing :guilty: but Neil and Andy are young
Had to grab a calculator to do the math to see how many times I'm older than Brad :yuck: ... sucks getting old
Speaking of sucking  time sent to eat's ... don't see any points this week ... figure I'm almost 2 min. down from where the podium is going to be... and about 3 sec's off fast lap ... sigh

I'll make the next race, but the one after I'll be in the moving mode and don't know if I'll get in any racing :(

Heh...

I'm two SECONDS (less actually) behind hOt. Enough for a podium remains to be seen...

I won't have time for another go so my first race will have to stand this week.

Submitted.

Good luck all!

I restart the race over and over to make SURE that the Alfa doesn't get into the line-up! What a pain-in-the-ass that car is! It's fast in a straight line and sh;tty round the corners, brakes too early when you are behind him, and then runs into the back of you whan you are infront!

Neil
Hmm, I could definitely make use of that tip. That just might be the ticket! Ok, 4.5 hours to get at least ONE clean enough race in. Here I go!

Well guys, I ran one race today, but may have time for another. I got one drive through penatly because... well.. I don't remeber now. I ran it with the AI set to 10 and Pit-in penatly. I managed to pass the first place FTO in 1 and a half laps. I think you guys need to learn how to pass cars :p.

Join the club, mate:p

The 1st by 1.5 laps club that is! :)

Mind you the 'forced pit' club might be a little empty :D :D :D

well, i had the AI at +10 - with the time penalty on - ran clean :)
got in first place before the last corner ... and I'm still slow ! :ouch:
this week was a rx and toyo week - time for some parity - will be way behind Neil and Andy this week :scared:
maybe I can drop some weight this week ?
Neil, you are a sly bastd' :sly: :)
Never gave a thought to which cars to race against. I just waste an hour or two learning the opening. What I need to get into first on the opening lap, yet still have a bit of rubber left.

got the amercian La Mans - and Cart races recorded - hey- it's NBA playoffs :)

Well, I did some toying, and am currently in the middle of a AI 8, 3 rally car, 2 super touring car race. I'm going so slow it's not even funny. There's just something about this track, that when doing an actual race, it bores me and puts me to sleep. I'm going to go take a nap. I've had one 10 second penalty, and more than a few nod off incidents. What a disgrace. Hopefully quick nap will bring me up to speed a little more, but I know that I'm no where near the Pace that you're at Neil, it's just NOT possible for my driving with my car's settings compared to yours. *sigh*

Hopefully I can finish this race off with a better final third of the race than the first two thirds, and then hopefully I can maintain that for another full race before deadline. :(

You'd have one of those calculators that print out your imputs on that roll of paper wouldn't you? Or do you still use the abacus you got for your 18th birthday. :sly:

Time was running out for me and I was able to get only one run done ! Not the best effort, oh well. Looking forward to get my HP back and may loose some weight.

My time is in.

I was half way through another run, but it wasn't going anywhere, and my thumb is sore. Remeber children:

DON'T PLAY WITH KNIVES!!!!!!!!!!
