BTW, EASY GUYS! :^) I didn't have all of last season to get a feel for the cars. Sorry it took A WHOLE EVENING after the final car list came out to choose! :^) On the flip, looks like the next few picks are going to fall in place quickly!
Okay, had a go last night... Tried a BUNCH of cars in B-Spec and A-Spec...
Casio, the RX-7 is a FUN car, and oversteer city, which I like. Would be a fun and challenging season ride, but out of respect for your request, I'll pass.
I've also been advised that the NSXs are a good choice, but too much understeer for my tastes even though tire management looks good and top speed on fast tracks rocks. Pass. Have at 'em Curtis and Dan!
RX-8: Too understeery and slow to shift. Good tire wear balance though.
350z LM: Very nice... In my top three or four...
Pitwork JGTC Z: Very nice total package. Didn't do tire wear testing, though. Would have strongly considered it if not for fasj's request (and fear of MURDER! ;^) )
Hiroto GT-R: Awesome brakes, stable and predictable. Would've been an alternate.
Also tried: M3 (slow but handled GREAT), C6 (no acceleration)... Supras are all nice, but didn't spend too much time there. I'm partial to the Nissans and turbos.
BUT, my final choice?
NISSAN XANAVI NISMO GT-R '03
I hope Francisco has been changing the oil regularly! :^)
A bit twitchy, but it has great balance with good throttle steer-ability. Decent brakes and good tire management. I ran all the above and then some on B-spec with heavy tire wear to see what the balance was and the NSX was the only one that wore the rears first (Race Soft at GVE). The RX-8 had odd behavior that it could do anywhere between 4 and 6 laps on a set whereas most always had the same number of laps before going orange/red. The M3 had about even wear, and the '03 GT-R was front biased, but not as much as the rest. The 'Vette absolutely trashed the fronts at an alarming rate. I think driving style will definitely affect tire wear in race mode, and considering my driving style, the '03 may balance out nicely with some rotational abuse.
Gonna be harder to keep up on fast tracks, but on the tight technical stuff it should be close.
Have at it jctraduz!
