RE AMEMIYA ASPARADRINK RX7 '04:tup: 👍 👍

Been waiting round all day, spend an hour testing both the RX7 and the ASL ARTa Gar...........

And all of a sudden it's my turn!:scared:

Neil

Know how you feel Neil
Not to hold up this stampede
Think anyone wants to get this season started ?
There went the last RX-7 :ouch:
Went with the Impressa 👍
Still working on a team name

BTW, EASY GUYS! :^) I didn't have all of last season to get a feel for the cars. Sorry it took A WHOLE EVENING after the final car list came out to choose! :^) On the flip, looks like the next few picks are going to fall in place quickly!

Okay, had a go last night... Tried a BUNCH of cars in B-Spec and A-Spec...

Casio, the RX-7 is a FUN car, and oversteer city, which I like. Would be a fun and challenging season ride, but out of respect for your request, I'll pass.

I've also been advised that the NSXs are a good choice, but too much understeer for my tastes even though tire management looks good and top speed on fast tracks rocks. Pass. Have at 'em Curtis and Dan!

RX-8: Too understeery and slow to shift. Good tire wear balance though.

350z LM: Very nice... In my top three or four...

Pitwork JGTC Z: Very nice total package. Didn't do tire wear testing, though. Would have strongly considered it if not for fasj's request (and fear of MURDER! ;^) )

Hiroto GT-R: Awesome brakes, stable and predictable. Would've been an alternate.

Also tried: M3 (slow but handled GREAT), C6 (no acceleration)... Supras are all nice, but didn't spend too much time there. I'm partial to the Nissans and turbos.

BUT, my final choice?

NISSAN XANAVI NISMO GT-R '03

I hope Francisco has been changing the oil regularly! :^)

A bit twitchy, but it has great balance with good throttle steer-ability. Decent brakes and good tire management. I ran all the above and then some on B-spec with heavy tire wear to see what the balance was and the NSX was the only one that wore the rears first (Race Soft at GVE). The RX-8 had odd behavior that it could do anywhere between 4 and 6 laps on a set whereas most always had the same number of laps before going orange/red. The M3 had about even wear, and the '03 GT-R was front biased, but not as much as the rest. The 'Vette absolutely trashed the fronts at an alarming rate. I think driving style will definitely affect tire wear in race mode, and considering my driving style, the '03 may balance out nicely with some rotational abuse.

Gonna be harder to keep up on fast tracks, but on the tight technical stuff it should be close.

Have at it jctraduz!

Ahh, the pace picked up pretty nicely today. Only the GT500 guy's need to step up to the plate a little ! If they are running the same pace in the race, they have to watch out that the GT300 class isn't passing them !
Good choice there "Filizola"
At the end of my testing run I had to decide between the APEX and the SUBBY. I went for the SUBBY b/c of it's handling and the awesome brakes.
I didn't know about any tire wear, doesn't matter now, choice made !

@EV4L, I choose #77 but my mate gave me #4 ! We'll get back to you later and let you know the team name and the car number !

*************Could we have a little pre-season challenge with the actual car we picked ???***********

Well, call me mad for it. (And you probably will)

But I'm getting to know my car better, while I wait for Casio to wake up, by setting myself a little individual challenge!

AI +10 (of course)
Tyres RH's
Hp as set for the car.
Weight= stock
Tyre wear=strong
Forced pitstop for bad contact
8 laps of the Nurburgring!

3 laps in, pulled into the pits in first place (just)

And the whole run, so far, is squeeky clean!
What better way is there to find out what your new season-long ride can do?

Neil

Hey dudes, I was concidering taking up one of the nissans but after winning both the Mazdas and testing them for a little bit i've decided to take the Mazda RX-8 Concept LM :)

^^^

You're up early mate!
6ish init?

Neil

Nope, 8ish (bloody timezones) Still way too early tho! :sly:

so, with that clear now, and knowing casio´s pick, i´ll make my pick official:

with the 6th pick in the 2006 JGTC draft, FASJ6418 selects... the Nissan Motul Pitwork Z ´04... using number 40 again if possible...

:dopey: :dopey: :dopey:

good thing we worked out a way to pressure other GM´s (er... drivers) to make this draft peaceful...

God this car feels good!

Just finished the 8 laps of the ring. Managed it in 58'41.8xx, 30+ secs in the lead.
Start RH's,Pits L3(RH's),L6(RM's)
No refuels, and finished on fumes!
Fastest lap a 7'08.xxx
2 very minor 'offs' with no time gained, no contact with the AI at all, no wall hits at all.
Lots of fun!

Neil

I had my eye on an RX-7 but three have already been picked. This was a tough choice. I'll go with the Honda S2000 LM.

I can't believe no one wants the Garaiya in GT300.

There should be 3 of them in there running!! Especially with the generous hp.

I tested them all last night and only the Subaru and the Apex where definitely the quickest.

I was on the fence about the ASL ARTA G.
It was (in my tests) faster on the same RM's as the rest of the GT300's, cos it is very grippy.

In the end I found that it wore out the rears too quickly in my testing, and putting a set of harder rears cured this.

BUT,

And it's a BIG BUT!

It also screws up the handling to the overall detriment of race times, because I had to back off over the bumpy corners too much.(I was testing @ Deep Forest forward)

Otherwise I would have picked it myself

And the S2000, ruined fronts for fun! At least 1.5 laps earlier than any of the other cars.

Am I delusional or was there a mysterious change to the horsepower setting of the Garaiya? Hmmm.......
