Sorry all... I play this game everyday and I like it a lot for numerous reasons... The visuals are stunning. Some of the tracks are very well done. The premium cars are beautiful... Other then that, this game is a huge failure. I'm sick of being on the "support PD" bandwagon.

We play GT Academy just so that we can receive our prize cars spread out over a month??? WHAT A JOKE!!! Drop all the prizes in our inboxes and be done with it. It's not like those cars are so great anyway. Just give us what we won and stop stringing us along.

PD drags their feet making new content. Things that should've been in the game at release, still aren't. Lots of new cars (2010 -2012 models) IRL that would be perfect for this game will never be in this game. We still race on awful, out of date models of Cote D'Azur, Daytona (The bus stop chicane that PD has on the Daytona Road Course is not correct. It never has been) and Indy Road Course come to mind. The tire model is flat out AWFUL. The paint chip system is stupid. The sounds of the cars are mediocre, at best. The AI SUCKS!

Online racing in GT5 brings about another set of issues. The online culture of "you suck if you use aids" is annoying. Sorry folks, if I'm in an online room and we're racing modern cars on comfort soft tires, I'm wanting some traction control and ABS, Oh wait... Just like 99% of all modern cars sold IRL have. Dealing with rooms of idiots who think they're "fast" because they do unrealistic mods to their cars, cut every corner possible and wreck anyone in their way is getting old. Then there's stupid me that goes in a 505PP or 525PP room with a light or moderately tuned car matching the PP and I get smoked because dudes show up in their RX8's that are super light and every tuning option is on the car, they knock down the power limiter to the PP for the room and away they go. That's my issue. People aren't *racing*, they're *playing the game*. They're doing that because that STUPID PP system sucks and PD has put no real merit system in for online *racing* that rewards clean, skillful driving in honestly even matched cars. The only way you can get good races online is if you A) get lucky and find a room in the open lobby that has some good, fair and clean racers in it or B) make a private room and invite other good, fair and clean racers to it. It sucks that there is no real way to just jump online, get in a room and know that your with other racers that are at your skill level and will race you clean. Other games have implemented rewards and penalty systems that keeps everyone in check. Why can't PD? Silly me... PD is probably busy drooling over a GTR somewhere...

And while I'm on the subject of modifying cars.... Sorry, but putting a "stage 3" everything and "racing" everything on a street car and have it remain a street car is unrealistic to me. You mean to tell me that I can take over 200 kilos (440lbs) of weight off my car but I can still have an interior? If I do all of the mods like stage 3 weight reduction, stage 3 engine tuning and and put all the parts labeled "racing" on a car, it should automatically get a number sticker on the side, a full roll cage, front/rear aero and be labeled RM.

Or PD could give us LOTS more RM/TC cars. Ferrari 430 and 458 RM? McLaren MP4-12C TC? Lamborghini Gallardo RM? Is that too much to ask?

Meanwhile, I get emails from Simraceway every week about new cars being added to their game. EVERY WEEK!!! Last week was an Audi R18 Ultra. This week was a Mustang Boss 302. The only thing stopping me from completely abandoning GT5 is the fact that I don't have a PC that would run a racing sim in the best possible way. Maybe instead of buying a PS4, I'll get a nice desktop PC and go racing with Simraceway and iRacing so I can race some awsome new street and race cars on some awesome real tracks that PD will probably never put in their game.

I know this is a huge rant but reading about how PD is screwing us and stringing us along with the GT Academy cars sent me over the edge...

Sorry to all the people that believe the hype but this game isn't that great and it's been surpassed by leaps and bounds on the PC side. Time to jump ship folks!

Yeah, like we're all supposed to read this and say "hey, this guy who I wouldn't know from a hole in the wall is right! Why we've all been thinking for ourselves all this time, when all we needed was someone on the internet to tell us what to do. Thank you anonymous stranger! You've shown me the error of my ways!".

Really? You have nothing better to do?

I know this thread won't last forever, but here's my two cents.

Been playing GT since I was a boy, waaaay back on that thing Sony introduced called the Sony PlayStation. Hooked to GT. Hooked up to and including GT4.

Then GT5 came and punched its own teeth out. We look across the street to our Microsoft neighbors and they are now experiencing what I envisioned GT would have become already: a game with a huge, varied carlist, fan to developer interaction, great customization and good physics (good enough for a console). I literally see in Forza what I desire to see in GT.

So, it's a bitter feeling. We can always buy an Xbox 360 (which I likely will in time) or a super PC, but we still want to see GT succeed, but we've been given little reason to smile. That kills us long-time fans.

Harsh criticism is out of best intentions. If you don't voice yourself, nothing is changed.

You're ranting about issues which mean very little in comparison to other more important stuff (Although I agree with you about the A.I, it does suck ass  ). Don't be surprised if you get a bunch of replies with a similar sentiment to Harlock's, we've read a complaint for just about every imaginable reason on this forum. While I appreciate that it's fine to discuss these issues, just about every one has been brought up and discussed/argued to death time and time again. So just a word of advice, if you feel like complaining, add to the many threads that already exist and save us the time of reading what we've already read 👍

*Insert rant here*

1. If you aren't in the "support PD bandwagon" as you call it, don't play the game anymore or buy DLC. You can do whatever you want.

2. Are you seriously complaining about FREE CARS? Some that are from a DLC pack that you need to buy if you want those cars?

3. That's how a game is supposed to be. It's not perfect. No game is perfect no matter how good it is.

4. You can't go and complain to PD about the community that the game has. They can't do nothing about it. No matter how much restrictions you put in a game, every game with a online component will always have these "idiots" as you call them. Plus, most of the lobbies I go in always have all the aids options available. I don't into which online lobbies you are getting into so you run into these "problems". And the PP system? It's not perfect, it's not realistic, but it's something.

5. You can't expect PD to do everything you want. The modifying in this game is fine as it is. You don't like it, deal with it. It hasn't been changed from the past iterations of the GT franchise, so you were really expecting a change?

6. And whatever's left of this rant, if you got $1000 to give me so I can buy a better PC than my current economic 2007 compaq one, feel free and I'll jump the ship with you. But money doesn't appear out of thin air just like that.

💡 Here is a thought. Sell your PS3, buy some high end PC. And be happy.

Thank you interpunct for bothering to say what I wanted to, but lack the necessary amount of arsed to do so

Considering the former is PD's personal (read: Lawsuit avoiding) interpretation of Monaco (as awful as it is from a modelling standpoint), there are no arguments to be made regarding the accuracy. And there is nothing wrong with the latter. It's just an older version of the track.

Furthermore, as said about, over a year and a half after the game came out and you think you are enlightening anyone about any of this?

Damn,she's good!

Actually, since you purchased the game, the joke is on you.

You are correct in one area though... I imagine PD has a big smile right now due to the excellent sales of GT5.

It's one that other racing game makers are sure to be jealous over.

As I posted in another topic

October 2009 - Forza 3
24 months
October 2011 - Forza 4

November 2010 - Gran Turismo 5
20 months
July 2012

20 months since GT5's launch and no word on what's coming next.

I'm sure PD is losing support with every passing minute to Forza and PC Sims

The problem is, I theorize, that Kaz doesn't have any new fresh ideas for the series. We're still racing the Grand Valley 300km from 1998. We're still racing the same old Sunday Cup, the same old tired Gran Turismo World Championship. The course editor was something new, but like alot of GT5 it was rushed and unfinished, a shadow of what it appeared to be while in development.

At this point in his career I believe Kaz is 100% focused on improving graphics and physics and not much else. PD really needs to bring in somebody that will add something fresh to the old rotten and stale Gran Turismo formula that has been recycled over and over for 10+ years

You should post those other posts that corrected, or filled out your timeline to give a more accurate story.

Agreed.

Remember this from a recent news post?

“[...] we are close on issues of aerodynamics. No simulation can achieve 100% because even the great Formula 1 teams use models to refine their models , but we are close. We could not achieve a perfect simulator or even if we had machines that were ten thousand or a hundred thousand times more powerful than today.”

It's not a bad thing that he wishes to perfect his simulation but when you're eccentric, you tend to forget a lot of other important things. Exactly what we see in GT5.

And then: “[...] we were interested to create a game with the Formula 1 license but had to withdraw. That industry is a monster, so big that any agreement you want to get forces you to make a financial outlay that we can not afford.”

Another title.....are you kidding me? GT Vita + GT6 + Formula game? KY, didn't you see how GT5 flopped?

Kaz's eccentricity worries me.

i love the "but they're free" counter-arguments, oh because they're free releasing one item per week suddenly makes sense? the only people standing up for PD at this point are the hardcore fanboys, i used to be one but GT5 and the "support' that followed was just embarrassing.

Stop with the Brown nosing of PD - You all know he is correct!

edit: Same here Royalefatale

GT5 is a great game, it's not Kaz's fault that there are a bunch of whiney brats that post about their delusions of grandeur

These posts do nothing for the future of the series.

Just as you defend the series, there are those that'll criticize it. And I can guarantee you the GT series deserves both praise and criticism.....but it's recently deserved a lot more criticism.

Criticism gets you new features and more diversity.

Your "stop hating, you brats" comments go ignored by big developers. They want to know what's wrong and what users like/dislike. They don't care much for your defense posts.

It doesn't matter what PD do, this bunch will still find something to whine about.
It is commonly referred to as entitlement syndrome, and mainly effects the younger generation

Yeah, things like unfinished games and some of the worse decision making I have ever witnessed.....yeah, these young un's!

There is still a difference between constructive criticism and just complaining. What people seemed to do most of the time is complain, not criticize constructively. That's my only issue here.

The line is so fine, though. But yes, there is a difference.

You cannot sit around twiddling your thumbs. As KY mentioned in the recent interview, "if the public demands it, it can be implemented." "Demand" is a tricky word, too haha. You do not want to sound too demanding and yet not too complacent.

That's the magic of Kaz. <3

Also apparently OP left the building cause he hasn't even replied once after trying to cause a heated discussion just because he was trying to blow off steam. I'm guessing of course...

exactly.

There are many that complain, criticize that it is such a failure, yet they still log in everyday to receive their 200%.

Fact is, GT5 is the best console driving game available on this generation of consoles. Forza is ok, perhaps it can be considered the best- if you enjoy painting cars

I enjoy liveries and I still go back to GT5.

Seriously Corvette? -.-'
